"He had a lot he wanted to say to Lu Yunlan alone, and knowing she wanted to set him up, he wouldn’t have been able to act freely if you were there."

To create an opportunity for them to be alone.

Shen Heyu then said, "How did he know Yun Lan was planning to set him up?"

"No refusal allowed," he grabbed her hand and clasped it tightly in his palm. Without a word, he just caressed the back of her hand, her palms, and her fingers, every movement radiating immense indulgence.
