She Asks for a Divorce Again -
Chapter 305: Anger
Chapter 305: Chapter 305: Anger
Pei Yansi sneered coldly, just watching her with that icy gaze. This time, he didn’t even want to offer any explanation.
Without saying a word, he turned around and left.
Chen Lingmeng tried to catch up, but it seemed he heard her footsteps. Without turning his head, he warned, "If you harass me further, I will definitely make your Chen Family pay the price. If you don’t believe me, feel free to try."
Chen Lingmeng’s footsteps abruptly stopped.
She knew Pei Yansi’s methods well, having been aware of them since childhood; he was always a man of his word. Dominant and loyal, yet even with those traits, she was still fascinated by him.
At that moment, watching his resolute departing figure, Chen Lingmeng felt a mountain of hatred building inside her, particularly jealousy towards Shen Heyu.
To her, she and Pei Yansi were naturally a couple. Even when she went abroad to study, she always remained single, believing that she and Pei Yansi were in a romantic relationship.
And now, upon her return, seeing Pei Yansi with Shen Heyu, from her perspective, Shen Heyu naturally seemed like an interloper.
She couldn’t accept it.
She aimed not only to win back Pei Yansi but also to make Shen Heyu pay the price.
Pei Yansi was unaware of her internal machinations; he just wanted to leave this place as quickly as possible, not wanting his already precarious relationship with Shen Heyu to suffer any further setbacks here.
However, just as he stepped out, he bumped into Shen Heyu standing outside in a shocked state, listening to the conversation he had with Chen Lingmeng in the study.
Seeing her, Pei Yansi frowned deeply, "How long have you been here?"
The underlying meaning of his question was asking how much she had heard.
Hearing his voice, Shen Heyu looked up at him and honestly said, "I heard everything. You really are as I perceived you to be, cold-hearted and unfaithful."
Her expression was serious, as if the words were the product of serious contemplation.
This made Pei Yansi deeply uncomfortable.
He stopped in his tracks, reaching out to pull Shen Heyu into his arms, "I am loyal only to you, I have not been cold-hearted towards you. You know that, so why say such things to provoke me?"
Seeing his hand reaching out, Shen Heyu instinctively stepped back.
Even now, she wanted no contact with him. Especially not at the Chen residence.
Her slight step backward felt to Pei Yansi like a sharp needle piercing deeply into his heart.
It pained him enough to momentarily confuse his thoughts.
He looked deeply at her, "You don’t believe me on this?"
Shen Heyu didn’t respond but turned around and left.
To her, she did not wish to involve herself with his affairs with other women, much less manage them.
Let alone argue about it.
Such trivial matters, she felt disdainful to waste any time on Pei Yansi for them. If he truly had been loyal to her, there wouldn’t have been any scene like today with Chen Lingmeng.
No, perhaps Chen Lingmeng wouldn’t even have appeared.
Watching Shen Heyu’s resolute departing figure, Pei Yansi only felt a headache. But then he thought, could she be jealous?
At this thought, his mood inexplicably brightened, and he quickly caught up to Shen Heyu. "Are you jealous, aren’t you?"
His tone carried a slight smugness.
This slight smugness, upon reaching Shen Heyu’s ears, made her scoff. As she walked briskly forward, she replied flatly, "Even if I ate two bowls of rice, I wouldn’t be jealous. President Pei, your face is a bit too thick."
Pei Yansi was amused by her remarks.
He took two steps forward, tall and long-legged, and easily caught up with Shen Heyu.
He firmly grasped her hand, walking towards the outside of the Chen Family estate step by step with an abalone, saying, "Why are you angry if you’re not jealous? Since you heard it all, you should know that there’s nothing between Chen Lingmeng and me, I have always been refusing."
Shen Heyu didn’t respond because she was reminded of her own university days, of her fondness for Pei Yansi.
Back then, she was also continuously rejected by him, even though she wanted to thank him for saving her life once, he persistently refused to meet.
Throughout the years she secretly adored him, she had never actually met him face-to-face.
It was always from a distance, or at school events, on stage, or on the student council’s podium — he was always up high.
He was forever lofty and spirited, an aspiration she couldn’t reach.
Now, what difference is there between Chen Lingmeng and her former self?
If we really talked about it, Chen Lingmeng, being his childhood friend, probably feels a thousand times more miserable than she felt back then.
Thinking of these things, Shen Heyu uncontrollably felt sad.
She thought, after all these years, Pei Yansi’s cold aloofness had never changed.
She just didn’t understand why he suddenly treated her this way.
As she was lost in her thoughts, they had already gotten into the car.
The car’s heater was on, and it wasn’t cold; as soon as she sat down, Pei Yansi took her hand, carefully caressing it in his palm.
It was like indulgent affection or a peculiar type of protection.
Pei Yansi whispered in her ear, "Why are you suddenly unhappy?"
Zhao Jing slowly started the car.
The car left the suburbs, leaving the sprawling Cheng Family far behind. From the rearview mirror, Shen Heyu watched the Chen Family’s large villa slowly recede until it turned into a tiny dot and disappeared, then she turned her gaze to Pei Yansi beside her,
"Thinking of some old times."
"What old times?"
Shen Heyu shook her head, "I don’t want to tell you."
Those youthful periods when she secretly admired him due to her inferiority— if she told Pei Yansi, it would probably only provoke his ridicule.
After all, such a cold and remote person, how could he understand the sourness of her youthful infatuation?
Isn’t he showing the same attitude towards Chen Lingmeng now?
Thinking this, she then heard Pei Yansi beside her say, "You thought of me, did you?"
Shen Heyu looked at him in surprise.
She didn’t know he could see through her so clearly.
Pei Yansi’s face was expressionless, even the faint smile he initially had was retracted. Since she thought of her unhappy old times, he could of course guess what she was thinking.
He hugged Shen Heyu in his arms and said earnestly, "Let the past pass. Alright? I am sincere about you and our daughter now, and I want to redo our wedding. Will you agree?"
"Do you think I will agree?"
Shen Heyu countered his question without responding, but such a response was in itself a rejection. Pei Yansi then knew she wouldn’t easily agree to his request.
He rubbed his eyelid, hiding the real emotions in his dark eyes, and didn’t continue on that topic but instead said, "I know what you’re thinking, but I hope you understand, during your youth, I actually did notice you."
