She Asks for a Divorce Again -
Chapter 283: Younger Brother and Sister
Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Younger Brother and Sister
Pei Yansi looked at her pouty action and couldn’t help but laugh, for tonight she had made him laugh too many times.
He rolled over and climbed into bed, wrapping his arms around Shen Heyu’s waist from behind and whispered in her ear, "Don’t ignore me."
His tone was one of appeasement.
Shen Heyu didn’t respond to him, knowing that this was his pitiful act, a tactic he had become too accustomed to using. However, this tactic had been employed quite frequently of late.
She didn’t understand how he could have changed so suddenly, with no trace of the transition.
So, she just kept quiet, curling up in his embrace, in truth also having no escape. She had spent too much energy during the daylight hours, and she was already very tired. Not long after, she fell fast asleep.
Pei Yansi was initially keen on engaging her in some physical exercise but, when he turned his head to look at her, he found she had already fallen into a deep sleep.
Not wanting to disturb her slumber, he just held her close and fell asleep alongside her.

Meanwhile, on the other side at the same time, Shen Jiangli had returned to the hotel with Han Manyin.
It was already very late. Seeing him return, Han Manyin asked in a surprised tone, "You’re injured?"
There were wounds on his body caused by Zhao Jin’s blade.
A ghastly scar stretched across his arm, oozing blood, darkening the fabric of his black suit sleeve even further.
Exhausted, Shen Jiangli sat down on the sofa and said, "Bring the medical kit."
Han Manyin nodded and swiftly located the kit, coming to his side with a face full of concern, her eyes red and tears shimmering, though it was unclear how much of this worry was genuine.
She said anxiously, "Let me help you."
Shen Jiangli looked at the tears in her eyes and, instead of attending to the wound on his arm, he lifted her chin with his uninjured hand.
His gaze was icy as he stared into her eyes and asked, one word at a time, "Pei Yansi found my location so quickly; does it have anything to do with you?"
Han Manyin blinked her innocent eyes.
She put on a harmless appearance, inciting pity at a glance, and said, "What are you talking about?"
Pretending to be clueless, she asked, "What do you mean he found your place? Didn’t you go to the restaurant to meet Shen Heyu?"
Shen Jiangli stared into her eyes for a long while, last time trying to discern if she was lying, but after a long observation, he noticed nothing unusual.
He sighed inwardly, let go of her, took off his suit jacket, and extended his arm out in front of her, allowing her to tend to his wound.
With the jacket and shirt removed, his robust chest was exposed. Han Manyin looked at him and couldn’t help but blush.
Even though their bodies had seen each other countless times, she still couldn’t help but feel shy at times like this.
Shen Jiangli kept watching her, noting her adept hands carefully treating his wound.
As the disinfectant alcohol swabbed over the cut, a searing pain followed.
He let out a soft hiss.
Han Manyin quickly loosened her grip, looking at him with those innocent eyes and said, "Sorry, I hurt you. It wasn’t intentional."
Shen Jiangli looked at her trying to please him, feeling inexplicably comfortable inside. He most enjoyed this feeling of effortlessly controlling someone, being feared by them.
He shook his head, "Continue."
Han Manyin pretended to be scared and outdid herself in treating his wound, performing a convincing act of bravery for his sake.
Once everything was treated, the bloodied disinfectant cotton balls were thrown into the trash, and Han Manyin had just closed the medical kit when Shen Jiangli grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his embrace.
"Are you lying to me?" he suddenly asked.
Shen Jiangli’s piercing gaze fixed on her, as if he wanted to see right through her.
He had suspected before that she hadn’t actually lost her memory. However, he hadn’t managed to elicit any information, nor did he have direct evidence.
But that didn’t mean his suspicion had been dispelled.
He thought about the villa in the suburbs he had dealt with for Shen Heyu. Besides Han Manyin, no second person knew about it.
Even if Pei Yansi mobilized resources to find this address, it would take time. But today, when he rushed over, he was too quick.
He couldn’t help but suspect that it was Han Manyin who leaked the information.
But she didn’t admit it.
He stared at her face, his eyes sharp, "Just like last time, three chances. Explain yourself."
As he spoke, he lit a cigarette, holding it in his hand without taking a puff.
Instead, he just quietly gazed at Han Manyin.
Being under such a gaze, she felt an inexplicable chill, knowing all along that he was not to be trifled with, not any less so than Pei Yansi.
There was even a moment when she thought the cigarette in his hand would burn her in the next second.
At this moment, Han Manyin was only wearing a strappy nightdress. The heating was on in the living room, so it wasn’t cold despite the winter.
She tried to act spoiled, her hands on either side of the sofa, bending over towards him. She buried her face in the crook of his neck, choking up, "This is the second time you’ve doubted me,"
"Before, no matter what you asked of me, I agreed and did my best to do it for you. Whether it was getting close to Lu Yi or inviting Shen Heyu to apologize to her on your behalf, I tried to do it flawlessly,"
"But why do you still not trust me? I understand your suspicions, but I’m scared. Every time you look at me with those eyes, I always think that you are about to leave me."
Han Manyin’s acting was superb, and as she reached the last sentence, tears she had been holding back trickled from the corner of her eyes.
They landed on Shen Jiangli’s neck.
He felt a warm wetness on his neck, and he was taken aback for a moment. Those were Han Manyin’s tears.
For some reason, he felt a sudden, sharp pain in his chest, in a place he hadn’t even noticed himself.
He didn’t know his feelings for her.
He still thought the person in his heart was Shen Heyu.
He reached out his hand and wrapped it around her waist, "Are you so afraid of me leaving you?"
He didn’t know whether he was asking casually or to satisfy that inexplicable desire in his heart,
A desire he couldn’t quite define.
It was as if... he didn’t want to part with her and, of course, didn’t want her to leave him either.
"Afraid,"
Han Manyin said seriously, without any artifice; she truly feared his departure. Right now, he was her only fallback.
To cling to a powerful family, Shen Jiangli was her last card to play.
Shen Jiangli’s heart skipped a beat at her simple response.
Intense, like a deer running wild, a sensation he hadn’t felt in a long time.
He fell silent, watching Han Manyin, his gaze gradually becoming profound, "What to do, suddenly I don’t feel like sending you off to Lu Yi."
Han Manyin paused for a moment.
She had already noticed a shift in his feelings towards her, but she hadn’t expected it to come so soon, that he would change his mind.
Han Manyin seized the opportunity, hugging him tightly, "I also don’t want to go to someone else."
