She Asks for a Divorce Again -
Chapter 263: Join Forces
Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Join Forces
Upon hearing this name, Lu Yi was taken aback.
He hadn’t expected it to be Shen Jiangli, but what puzzled him even more was, what did he want?
He asked, "What did he send you here for?"
Han Manyin said, "He asked me to sleep with you."
"..."
It was the first time Lu Yi had ever heard someone speak so directly about such a matter, and with Han Manyin’s naive and bewildered expression, he found it especially distracting.
Fortunately, Lu Yi had always been a man of integrity, and such comments from her elicited no reaction in him.
If he had to say, it would be only disgust.
A flicker of annoyance passed quickly through his eyes. "Explain yourself more clearly."
Han Manyin continued, "He wants me to sleep with you, so that Shen Heyu witnesses it tomorrow, and then undermine your image in her heart to completely lose your competitive edge."
She spoke candidly, and now she was outright direct.
If Lu Yi couldn’t understand now, there was a problem.
He looked at Han Manyin, but couldn’t fully trust her; after all, her character before the amnesia was truly questionable.
He said, "Do you have any evidence?"
Han Manyin was somewhat speechless; with things having reached this point, he still doubted her.
She looked at him and said, "Otherwise, why do you think I would lie to you? What benefit would it bring me?"
She couldn’t yet reveal that she hadn’t actually lost her memory; otherwise, she could have straightforwardly explained her intentions and Shen Jiangli’s grudges.
Lu Yi looked at her, sensing perhaps she hadn’t deceived him.
However, he thought of many things. Was Shen Jiangli’s actions merely aimed at pushing him out of the ring? Not allowing him to compete for Shen Heyu on an equal footing.
But even so, what benefit would this bring to the province? Shen Heyu and Pei Yansi were already married by law, as they had officially registered their marriage; whatever the case, they’ve lost their right to compete.
Nevertheless, Shen Jiangli had still done it.
Why?
Lu Yi was profoundly perplexed, concerned about what Shen Jiangli might do to Shen Heyu. He asked Han Manyin, "Besides this, what else do you know?"
"He didn’t tell me much, only that I should come sleep with you and then let Shen Heyu see," Han Manyin repeated Shen Jiangli’s purpose.
Lu Yi remained silent for a long while. He reached into the bedside table, took out a cigarette, and lit it wearily, his thoughts unclear.
Han Manyin didn’t rush him, sitting by his bed, quietly waiting for him to speak.
She knew that, given his frenzy for Shen Heyu over these many years with feelings that hadn’t diminished at all, he would definitely not tolerate Shen Jiangli scheming against her.
Only Lu Yi was smarter than she had anticipated.
He looked at her and asked, "So, he wants you to be by my side, for me to find a doctor for you—these were all pretexts. His true aim was to have you seduce me, to make me fall for you, right?"
Han Manyin shook her head, feigning innocence. "I wouldn’t know about that."
In fact, she could figure it out; if she were by Lu Yi’s side, and if Lu Yi truly developed feelings for her, then what place would there be for Shen Heyu?
Shen Jiangli’s goal would be achieved.
But to mask the truth of her memory loss, Han Manyin didn’t tell Lu Yi.
Lu Yi was able to figure it out himself, he said, "So why are you telling me all this, what are you after?"
He certainly didn’t believe that Han Manyin was doing this out of the goodness of her heart. Even if she really had lost her memory, the inherently bad traits within her wouldn’t be erased. They weren’t acquaintances, and she had no reason to help him.
Unless, of course, there was something in it for her.
Han Manyin hadn’t expected him to be so clever, to figure out her intentions so quickly. Since she wasn’t present, she said, "I can’t bear to part with Shen Jiangli, and I want to collaborate with you. I’ll help you pursue Shen Heyu, and you’ll play along with me in public to keep Shen Jiangli from suspecting me, allowing me the chance to stay close to him."
Lu Yi scoffed.
He didn’t believe her.
He blew a ring of smoke toward Han Manyin and said in a deep voice, "What difference does it make whether I play along with you or if you’re by Shen Jiangli’s side?"
The women around Shen Jiangli changed more frequently than they changed clothes; it wasn’t something Han Manyin could manipulate to permanently stay by his side.
Han Manyin said, "I have my own methods. Just tell me if you agree or not."
Lu Yi pondered for a moment. Anyway, Shen Jiangli had already schemed against him, and he was determined not to be ousted from Shen Heyu’s situation.
He wouldn’t allow it.
Even if Shen Heyu married someone else, he wanted to stay by her side forever.
So he said, "I agree. But I am curious how you plan to help me pursue Shen Heyu."
Before Han Manyin had lost her memory, she was foolish and couldn’t outwit Shen Heyu. Now with her memory gone, she hardly had any intelligence left, let alone the capability to contend with Shen Heyu.
Lu Yi didn’t believe her.
She didn’t seem to mind at all, just saying, "You just need to wait for my signal and then follow my instructions."
She seemed to sense his distrust and added, "Look, even though the women around Shen Jiangli are numerous as clothes, at least I’ve made it to his side, haven’t I?"
This was proof enough that she had a knack for seduction. And no matter the gender, she could always find the right approach.
Lu Yi didn’t say much else and agreed to her plan.
That night, Lu Yi walked Han Manyin back to her room, deliberately being considerate as he closed the door, ensuring the corridor’s surveillance captured it all clearly.
The next morning, Shen Heyu woke up early. As soon as she opened her eyes, she felt a thick, hard arm wrapped tightly around her waist.
It was hot, the man behind her was also hot, he held her tightly in his arms, giving her no chance to breathe.
It was as if he was worried she would run away.
Shen Heyu uneasily shifted in his embrace, waking Pei Yansi in the process. He reached out, pulling her even tighter and whispered in her ear, "It’s early, stop fussing."
His voice was slightly hoarse with desire, Shen Heyu knew that men were particularly irritable in the morning, so she stayed still and said, "It’s not early anymore, I need to return to Jiang City today. I can’t sleep any longer."
Pei Yansi, hearing her words, slowly opened his eyes, looked at her quizzically, "Is it such a rush?"
So eager to return to Jiang City so early.
Was it really about going back, or was it about wanting to leave his side as quickly as possible? Pei Yansi’s expression darkened as he thought, guessing the true answer in his heart.
But he didn’t voice it.
Shen Heyu said, "I’ve been away too long; I want to go back."
She was clearly trying to cover her real intent.
Pei Yansi quietly watched her for a few seconds, trying to discern the truth in her words. Ultimately, he couldn’t determine anything, so he rolled out of bed, "Alright, I’ll see you off."
Shen Heyu didn’t refuse.
She had already agreed to it before.
