She Asks for a Divorce Again -
Chapter 250: Focus
Chapter 250: Chapter 250: Focus
"I will take you to see Shen Jiangli," he initially planned to have the driver take her, but Pei Yansi, after much thought, decided to take her himself. After all, he wanted to know what she would say and do when meeting Shen Jiangli.
It was his jealousy acting up.
Unable to bear it, to change it, or to control it, whenever he faced Shen Heyu, he was always filled with jealousy, envy, and resentment.
Originally mentioning having the driver take her was merely a way to temporarily dispel her doubts about him. Seeing that she had let down her guard a lot, of course, he wanted to make a move himself.
Shen Heyu didn’t overthink it.
She nodded and said, "Either way is fine. If it’s convenient for you, thank you."
Her demeanor was still habitually aloof and polite.
Pei Yansi gently curved into a light smile, found that although it was tiring, she really had become much more obedient.
She was very obedient, in a way that was unprecedented.
Even though Pei Yansi didn’t know, how long this obedience would last, whether it always required his eternal pretense for her to behave this way.
Pei Yansi chose to seize the moment.
To have even a single day was enough.
He also thought about how to come clean with Shen Heyu regarding the affair of Shen Jiangli killing Shen Fanshuang; she had once told him a well-intentioned lie, so perhaps she too needed this kindness.
Regarding Shen Fanshuang, Pei Yansi thought that maybe Shen Heyu didn’t need kindness. After all, it was about a relative’s death, and she deserved to know the truth.
A truth that shouldn’t be buried by any lies, even if those lies had their justifications.
"What would you do if one day you find out Shen Jiangli lied to you?" Pei Yansi asked Shen Heyu, probing.
She didn’t understand why he would suddenly ask this but still honestly answered, "He wouldn’t lie to me."
Her tone was very certain.
Pei Yansi sneered inwardly.
His face did not show it, but his heart was already full of spite. She could trust Shen Jiangli so much, yet toward him, it was all aversion and doubt.
The difference was so stark.
"What if, hypothetically, could you really be so sure?" Pei Yansi’s eyes stared unwaveringly at her.
"Maybe it depends on the extent," Shen Heyu said honestly. She was no longer a child and believed that everyone has their human nature. Maybe one day, Shen Jiangli would indeed deceive her. And if he did, what then?
They had been friends for so many years. As long as it wasn’t a matter of principle, she thought she would ultimately forgive him.
With just this simple sentence, Pei Yansi seemed to have seen through her, knowing what she was thinking inside. So perhaps she should know the truth about this matter concerning Shen Jiangli.
It was just a matter of finding the right time.
Pei Yansi thought to himself.
Shen Heyu quickly finished breakfast. She put down her bowl and chopsticks and tidied up herself for a while before saying, "Let’s go now."
She had already packed upstairs.
Dressed in a long, thick winter coat, her tall figure and the black wavy hair cascading down, the fragrance from her body wafting slightly, just walking up to him, he could smell the scent emanating from her.
His gaze dimmed.
Thinking that she had dressed up this way to meet Shen Jiangli, he felt rather displeased.
Although it wasn’t a meticulous getup, such preparation still made Pei Yansi jealous.
Previously, he didn’t realize how prone he was to jealousy.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing him sitting on the couch and not responding to her, Shen Heyu asked, somewhat puzzled.
Pei Yansi got up from the couch and said, "It’s nothing."
He turned and walked outside. He had initially wanted to hold her hand but feared she might reject him and be frightened by his advances, so he deeply suppressed that desire.
Outside it was winter, and it had snowed. From a distance, they could see the city clad in silvery white. The snow-covered city had a different charm when seen with the eyes, perhaps because of the snowy road surface, Pei Yansi didn’t dare to drive too fast.
The car moved very slowly.
Both of them sat in the car, the atmosphere was somewhat eerie, neither spoke, the heating and air conditioning were on.
Finally, it was Pei Yansi who broke the silence and said, "What do you want for a New Year’s gift?"
Heyu was stunned.
She had never thought about receiving a New Year’s gift from Pei Yansi.
Nor did she want to accept any of his kindness.
So she shook her head and said, "I don’t want anything for now."
"Then I’ll decide for myself."
Pei Yansi didn’t give her a chance to refuse.
Since she didn’t say anything herself, he would take full responsibility to prepare it for her, in any case, a New Year’s gift was definitely going to be given to her.
Shen Heyu didn’t say anything.
Just because she knew that she couldn’t stop Pei Yansi from doing such things.
But on second thought, would he also demand a New Year’s gift from her? After all, like their previous wedding anniversary, hadn’t he forced her to give him one?
Shen Heyu’s mind wandered with wild thoughts.
If that were the case, what should she give him?
"Did you contact Shen Jiangli beforehand?" Pei Yansi suddenly changed the subject.
Shen Heyu shook her head.
"I’ve been unable to reach his phone," which is why she was worried about him.
"Maybe he’s being lovey-dovey with Han Manyin, aren’t you afraid of disturbing their intimate moment by showing up so suddenly?"
Pei Yansi said meaningfully. Shen Heyu glanced at him a few times to gauge if there was any malice in his words. Unable to discern any, she said, "It’s broad daylight, not everyone is like you."
"Oh?" Pei Yansi replied meaningfully, "Like me how?"
He didn’t know he still had such an impression in Shen Heyu’s mind. Whether the impression was good or bad, having one was a good thing.
He was just afraid that she had completely forgotten about him.
"Nothing," Shen Heyu denied and ended the topic.
What she actually thought was about the past him, who always wanted to be intimate with her regardless of the time and place.
Shen Jiangli was not that kind of person, how could he possibly be lovey-dovey with Han Manyin in broad daylight and let her find out?
Pei Yansi didn’t know what she was thinking.
But he could vaguely sense it was probably about him, or at least related to him. Satisfied, a gentle smile appeared on his lips.
Shen Heyu didn’t see what was so funny.
She didn’t speak again.
Half an hour later, their car arrived downstairs at Shen Jiangli’s building.
Shen Jiangli lived in a high-end residential area in the city.
The security was good.
Outside vehicles couldn’t get in.
Pei Yansi had to park the car by the roadside and enter the area on foot with Heyu.
Shen Heyu knew Shen Jiangli’s apartment number and went directly there, raising her hand to knock on the door.
Soon after, the sound of slippers dragging was heard, followed by the door being opened.
Shen Heyu looked up and saw it was Han Manyin.
"Who are you?" Han Manyin looked utterly confused.
