She Asks for a Divorce Again
Chapter 249: Jealousy

Chapter 249: Chapter 249: Jealousy

"Don’t move," Pei Yansi saw that she wanted to struggle and spoke first to stop her.

Shen Heyu immediately froze at his words.

It was the long-standing fear of him that instead formed a kind of conditioned reflex; her movements became stiff as she looked at Pei Yansi’s excessively handsome face and said, "What exactly do you want to do? You clearly said that you wouldn’t force me."

"I’m not going to do anything to you, no need to be nervous," Pei Yansi assured her.

Even though he said this, Shen Heyu still watched him cautiously.

"I want to hug you," Pei Yansi said, as he lay down beside her and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his embrace.

It was the first time Shen Heyu heard him use such a pleading tone, and for a moment, she forgot to speak. By the time she reacted, she was already sincerely held in his embrace.

"How have you been this month?" Pei Yansi knowingly asked, actually, he just wanted to find a topic to talk about with her but was afraid of her rejection, so he could only steer the conversation towards her.

And he acted calm.

He did not show any sign of wanting to keep her there forever.

Hearing Pei Yansi’s normal tone, Shen Heyu let down her guard quite a bit, and she earnestly said, "I’ve been quite fine without you."

Even in giving an answer, she aimed to sting Pei Yansi’s heart.

Sure enough, she heard Pei Yansi’s breath grow heavier for a moment, then he pressed his thin lips against her ear and gently said, "You will be even better in the future."

Shen Heyu didn’t understand what he meant by that.

The next second, he took the initiative to explain, "For the New Year, I’ll join Yuexue and you; being with you both. I’ll let you see my change, stay by my side, and you will be better."

He finally couldn’t resist expressing his desire for her to stay.

Shen Heyu remained silent and didn’t say much.

She simply let him hold her tightly.

In truth, she knew that no one could change his decision, and she could not break free from his arms; since she couldn’t refuse, she might as well enjoy it.

A month later, returning to the familiarity of this room, this embrace, Shen Heyu thought she would be very uncomfortable, yet she found that she slept better than usual.

The next day, Shen Heyu woke up when the sun was already high.

She lay in the room, staring at the crystal chandelier overhead, wondering how she ended up lying with Pei Yansi again, though there was no one beside her now.

She stretched her hand over; there was still a hint of warmth under the quilt, suggesting Pei Yansi hadn’t left long ago.

Just as this thought crossed her mind, she heard the door to the room being pushed open. Pei Yansi came in from outside, standing by the bed with his head bowed, gently looking at her and asking, "Are you hungry?"

"I’ve made your favorite breakfast, come and have some."

Shen Heyu uttered an "Oh" and got out of bed.

After washing up and coming downstairs, she sat at the dining table and saw that everything on it was to her taste, and just smelling it, she knew it was Pei Yansi who had made it by hand.

"Have you been cooking by hand this entire month?" Shen Heyu asked curiously.

"I make food for our daughter every day," Pei Yansi indifferently said, "Why?" Is that so surprising?

That’s what he thought as he looked at Shen Heyu, but from her expression, he read that she indeed thought so.

She really found it odd that he cooked.

But Shen Heyu didn’t say a word.

Pei Yansi quietly looked at her and asked, "What are your plans later?"

"Going to see a friend."

Shen Heyu had thought that Pei Yansi would still try to forcibly keep her here, as she had dared not show herself for a month. However, unexpectedly, it seemed that Pei Yansi had let go of much of his obsession, so naturally, this time she had returned, she would want to meet with Shen Jiangli and Lu Yunlan.

Especially Shen Jiangli.

Ever since the incident with Han Manyin, his mental state had been abnormal, and she had advised him to seek a psychiatrist. But after she followed Pei Yansi abroad, she had never inquired about it, and now she was still completely unaware of Shen Jiangli’s condition.

It would be a lie to say she wasn’t worried about him.

Over the past month, she had thought about trying to contact Shen Jiangli, but for fear that Pei Yansi would find out, she always held back, and now was her best opportunity.

"Seeing whom?" Pei Yansi gently set down his chopsticks, slightly turned his gaze, and stared at her as he asked, "Lu Yi? Or Shen Jiangli? Or Lu Yunlan?

Or some other man?

She had just come back, and she couldn’t wait to meet other men. Was it concern or something else?

Pei Yansi’s uncontrollable jealousy.

He thought he could suppress these emotions well by now, but he had to admit, when he heard other men’s names from Shen Heyu’s mouth, he couldn’t help but feel jealous.

Shen Heyu had always wanted to test how much he had truly reformed, so she deliberately said, "I’ll see all of them, especially Shen Jiangli. His condition has been very abnormal since the Han Manyin incident. I’m really worried about him."

She bluntly expressed her concerns.

Then, she looked at Pei Yansi sitting beside her, observing whether his expression changed inappropriately.

However, Pei Yansi remained calm and composed, seemingly indifferent to whom she was going to meet.

This relieved Shen Heyu immensely.

He really seemed to have changed quite a bit.

"You two have been friends for so many years," not only had Pei Yansi changed, but he had also become more forgiving, and he gently said, "It’s natural to be worried about him; you should go see him."

While talking, he bowed his head and earnestly ate the breakfast in front of him, his long eyelashes cast down, shielding his dim eyes.

Shen Heyu did not notice the tumultuous storm hidden in the depths of his eyes, and thought that he had indeed changed a lot.

She was thinking this when she heard Pei Yansi say, "I’ll have the driver take you later."

Shen Heyu nodded without objection.

She suddenly remembered that she hadn’t seen Grandma Pei since yesterday, and curiously asked, "Where is Grandma Pei?"

"She’s been traveling out of the province these past two days with a few friends, probably playing cards," Pei Yansi answered indifferently.

Grandma Pei knew how to enjoy life; even in her old age, she maintained her social relationships and was rarely at home.

"She won’t be coming back for the New Year?" Shen Heyu asked curiously. Since she had decided to stay here for the Spring Festival and was preparing New Year’s goods, she would naturally need to consider Grandma Pei.

"Yes," Pei Yansi said, looking at her, "Why?"

"I need to consider Grandma for the New Year’s preparation," Shen Heyu blurted out, forgetting to add the surname, and after saying this, she indeed saw a deep look in Pei Yansi’s eyes.

"It seems you still have this family in your heart."

Pei Yansi slightly curved his lips, his eyes twinkling with starlight, gazing at her.

Shen Heyu felt embarrassed by his assertion.

After all, if it were not for their past, and if he hadn’t mistreated her before, she would surely be a home-loving Heyu.
