She Asks for a Divorce Again
Chapter 242 True Separation

Chapter 242: Chapter 242 True Separation

Shen Heyu sighed with relief.

She almost thought he was going to break his promise and not let her go.

Pei Yansi gently embraced her, "Come see the snow again tomorrow."

Shen Heyu nodded lightly.

As long as he kept his promise and let her leave after the agreed time, she was willing to agree to all his requests during these days.

When they returned from watching the sunrise, it was already noon.

Yuexue was already up, sitting at the dining table. Zhao Jing was on the side arranging food for her.

Seeing them, Yuexue was overjoyed.

"Daddy, Mommy, where did you go?" She ran over to Shen Heyu and grabbed her hand coquettishly.

Shen Heyu indulgently ruffled her daughter’s hair, "We went to see the sunrise."

Yuexue uttered an "oh," "Will we go to see the snow tomorrow?"

Pei Yansi said, "Of course we will."

"Then you have to take me with you tomorrow," Yuexue said with a giggly smile.

Pei Yansi nodded.

The only reason she hadn’t been taken to see the sunrise this time was because it was too early, and she needed her sleep.

Pei Yansi kept his promise, and the next day he took Yuexue and Shen Heyu to see the snow.

The snow in this city was bigger than back home.

The snow piled up thickly on the ground, and the sky continued to drop snowflakes. As the New Year approached, there was an air of festivity everywhere.

Yuexue was very excited.

It was her first time going out with her parents, and everything she saw was fascinating. Especially with both hands, the left holding her father’s and the right holding her mother’s, she had never felt this happy before.

Shen Heyu looked down and could see her daughter’s happy face, her eyes shining with radiance, those phoenix eyes incredibly similar to Pei Yansi’s.

She rarely saw light in Pei Yansi’s eyes.

Now seeing it in her daughter’s was like seeing his. Sometimes, the younger generation truly does reflect the previous one, and that adage was indeed true.

Shen Heyu’s heart trembled with emotion.

If she really left Pei Yansi, would her daughter still be this happy?

She thought there might be no answer to this question.

Because, before becoming Yuexue’s mother, she had to be herself.

She couldn’t give up anything for Yuexue.

Pei Yansi sensed her distraction.

He moved imperceptibly to lift his daughter into his arms, freeing his other hand to take hold of Shen Heyu.

Yuexue sat in Pei Yansi’s arms, still beaming with uncontrollable happiness, her laughter bright and adorable.

Pei Yansi turned to Shen Heyu, "Not in high spirits?"

She shook her head, her deep and lingering gaze falling on her daughter, full of indescribable affection and reluctance.

Pei Yansi easily saw through her.

The tightness with which he held her hand increased, "If you can’t bear to leave, then don’t."

This was undoubtedly a plea for her to stay.

Shen Heyu heard it, and though it was unexpected that he would ask her to stay, and even more so with such sincerity, her mind was made up.

"I won’t forget what you did to me before. Until I can let go of those things, I won’t stay by your side."

She spoke firmly, her eyes revealing an unwavering resolve as she looked at him.

Pei Yansi felt a pain in his heart as he met her steadfast gaze; he knew he had wronged her in the past.

He hummed a faint acknowledgment, "In the future, if you want to come back, you can do so at any time."

He had lowered his stance a lot; his words no doubt put himself in the position of being her backup.

But now he didn’t care about anything else.

He couldn’t bother with so much.

He just wanted to keep a chance for himself and her.

Shen Heyu likewise didn’t respond to his words.

She walked along, holding his hand, seemingly together with him, yet her thoughts were far away.

Pei Yansi noticed Shen Heyu’s distraction and lack of enthusiasm. Continuing the stroll would only have been torture, so he ended their trip earlier than planned and returned to the hotel.

After dinner, Yuexue went to rest in the guest room by herself, not asking Pei Yansi to tuck her in.

This left Pei Yansi with a lot of time.

He returned to the master bedroom, where Shen Heyu had just finished bathing and was coming out of the bathroom.

"Is our daughter asleep?" she asked.

Pei Yansi nodded, walked up to her, and naturally enveloped her in his arms.

He was tall and broad, completely enfolding Shen Heyu, who did not struggle as she nestled against his chest.

The scent of her filled his breath.

When had the smell of her body wash become so intoxicating? Pei Yansi didn’t know.

All he knew was that her scent made him feel alive.

"We only have two more days left." Today had already ended.

Pei Yansi spoke with a tone of despair.

Feeling some loss. His heart felt empty.

It seemed like he had never felt this way before, yet perhaps he had—it was six years ago when she left, but the specifics were unclear to him.

He just felt a deep reluctance to let go.

Heyu hummed softly in his embrace.

"I’ll leave in two days," she stated resolutely.

Hearing these words, Pei Yansi’s breath became uneven.

He hugged her tighter, shifting to the side and pushing her onto the soft bed.

Shen Heyu silently endured.

She would honor the agreement for these two days, fulfilling the duty of a wife.

And Pei Yansi was gentler than he had ever been.

This gentleness was something he had never shown during their marriage. For Shen Heyu in the past, these acts were a form of punishment from him, until tonight when she realized that at some point, she had begun to feel something different.

He started caring about her feelings.

It was no longer punishment but rather a tender love.

Shen Heyu dared not think too much.

Afraid that thinking too much, probing too deeply, she might become lost in Pei Yan’s fascination.

She chose silence.

Afterward, as usual, Pei Yansi held her and took her to the bathroom to clean up.

For the next two days, Shen Heyu devoted herself to spending time with him, making an effort to interact, suppressing the unwilling emotions within her.

She also reduced contact with the outside world.

Not wanting to provoke Pei Yansi and have her departure once again be indefinitely delayed.

Two days could indeed fly by in a blink of an eye.

Until the eighth day arrived.

It was also the time for their return home.

Shen Heyu woke up very early, packing her bags in the bedroom.

Pei Yansi had been sleepless all night.

Now, listening to her packing, he wished she could take him too, to leave with her.

He now sat on the couch with a cigarette between his fingers, unlit.

"Are you in such a hurry?" It was not even eight in the morning, and she was eager to leave.

Shen Heyu nodded and said, "For freedom, it’s always too late. Now is the best time, naturally, I’ll be anxious."

Pei Yansi didn’t speak anymore.

He kept watching her until she had finally packed up and was about to leave. That’s when he abruptly grabbed her wrist.

"I’ll drive you," he said with difficulty, his voice tinged with hoarseness.
