She Asks for a Divorce Again -
Chapter 240: Sunrise
Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Sunrise
Shen Heyu didn’t take his words to heart.
She thought he couldn’t possibly do such a thing.
Pei Yansi didn’t hurry to prove himself and only held her tightly without saying more.
Both were incredibly silent that night,
as if in anticipation of that impending farewell.
The next morning, Shen Heyu woke up early.
Outside, the sky wasn’t fully bright yet, only layered with a dim blue glow—the color of the sky just before dawn.
Sounds were already coming from the living room.
Shen Heyu turned her head and saw that Pei Yansi was no longer by her side.
She got out of bed.
It was actually still very early, but she wanted to see what Pei Yansi was doing.
Dressed only in her winter pajamas, she opened the bedroom door and saw the male lead busy in the kitchen of the presidential suite.
He seemed to have heard her stirring as well.
He turned his head towards Shen Heyu, a faint smile hanging on his lips, "Up this early?"
He was making breakfast for her.
Shen Heyu saw through it immediately, "Why make it yourself?" The hotel served breakfast, and it wasn’t bad quality.
"I always want to do something for you."
Pei Yansi spoke just as he finished preparing the breakfast.
He had made two bowls of pasta.
Every bowl was made with extreme effort.
He brought the pasta to the table, "Eat up, then I’ll take you to see the sunrise."
Heyu frowned, her good mood just beginning seemed already disrupted by his words.
She was reluctant.
Pei Yansi noticed immediately. He slightly squinted, took a seat at the dining table first, and while pulling out chopsticks for her, said, "Come over."
He didn’t mention the thing she wanted to refuse.
He had always been like this, treating the things he was refused as if they never happened.
Shen Heyu slowly walked over to the dining table.
At this time, their daughter was still sleeping. Both tacitly agreed not to wake her.
Shen Heyu took a bite.
His cooking was beyond reproach.
The mood that had been slightly affected just now lifted a bit again.
Pei Yansi ate little, mostly just watching her eat. She was still like she had been six years ago, liking to stuff her mouth full of food, puffing her cheeks high on both sides.
Very much like a hamster storing food.
Extremely cute.
Shen Heyu was enjoying her meal when she looked up and saw him staring deeply at her, his eyes as intense as fire.
It was as if she wasn’t eating breakfast, but undressing...
She paused, put down her chopsticks, "I’m done."
Actually, she didn’t want to be watched by those intense eyes any longer.
Pei Yansi stared at her quietly for two seconds, as if trying to see through her. He didn’t seem to make out anything but didn’t insist she continue eating.
He simply said, "Change clothes, let’s go see the sunrise."
He did not mention her expression of refusal just now.
Shen Heyu knew she couldn’t refuse this man.
She obediently went into the bedroom and changed into warmer clothes.
Outside, the sky was still lit with the light of dawn.
The faint sound of laughter drifted up from downstairs, and the streets gradually filled with pedestrians and vehicles, casting a somewhat solitary mood over the city.
Shen Heyu changed clothes and went downstairs with Pei Yansi.
Pei Yansi was worried that going out might result in another encounter with the male supporting role. Luckily, they managed not to bump into that ever-intrusive person.
Here, the winter was always sunny, yet that didn’t prevent the temperature from dropping or the snow from falling.
It was quite like the northern parts of our country.
Even though they were setting out to watch the sunrise, a thick layer of snow still piled up on the road.
Shen Heyu’s footsteps pressed down, and the crunching sound of the snow could be heard.
Pei Yansi held her hand throughout, just as before, stuffing her hand into his pocket to warm her up.
"After we watch the sunrise, let’s go see the snow tomorrow," said Pei Yansi. "We’ll take in all the scenery here together, with our daughter."
His words were very gentle, even wistful.
That bit of anticipation was even evident to himself.
Shen Heyu could certainly not miss it.
Her heart fluttered.
Since when had Pei Yansi started looking forward to a future with her?
She dared not think about it, didn’t want to think about it, and didn’t believe that he loved her. She considered their current togetherness as the final moments together before their separation in three days.
Thus, she didn’t say much.
After all, at a time like this, there was no need to spoil the mood.
"If you don’t reject me, I’ll take it as you’ve agreed," said Pei Yansi.
Shen Heyu looked up at him, puzzled. Shouldn’t he know that she had no grounds to refuse him in his presence?
But Pei Yansi was looking at her with a smile.
It was a genuine smile, coming from deep within. Even his usually cold eyes carried a deep joy.
What Shen Heyu didn’t know was that for Pei Yansi, this was the first time she had agreed to something without him having to force her.
Of course, it was significant.
The sky was gradually lighting up.
More and more pedestrians appeared on the roads.
Watching the sunrise required going up into the mountains.
Climbing to the highest part not only provided a feeling of transcendence but also allowed one to take in the most beautiful sunrise vista.
However, the road was slippery with snow, making it very difficult to move. Shen Heyu stood at the foot of the mountain and looked up. Seeing the lofty mountain, she already felt like backing out.
Pei Yansi watched her and couldn’t help but chuckle softly, seeing that she was still fragile.
"If you can’t climb, I’ll carry you," he said beside her.
"Who says I can’t climb?" Shen Heyu certainly didn’t want to admit defeat. It was only the beginning, and there was no way she’d concede in front of him.
She glanced at Pei Yansi and took the lead in climbing.
Watching her defiant back, Pei Yansi couldn’t help but chuckle, finding her behavior unexpectedly cute.
Why hadn’t he noticed this before?
He took strides to catch up with her.
"The snow is slippery, be careful," he said, following alongside her. "I suggest you hold on to me. That way, if you almost fall, I can cushion your fall."
"I don’t need that,"
Shen Heyu declined his offer.
There were many people around. Even at this time, the mountain trail was crowded with groups of people, laughing and jesting. The early morning light gradually broke through, and the smell of human presence rose all around.
Pei Yansi watched all this, and watched Shen Heyu among the crowd with a slight smile on her lips, faint but heartfelt.
That moment gave him the illusion that he and Shen Heyu also had a simple, ordinary happiness. It felt like they would never part, just an ordinary couple.
He walked behind Shen Heyu.
Initially, beside her, but worried that if she fell, he wouldn’t be able to react in time. After some thought, it seemed safest to stay behind her.
Shen Heyu continued earnestly climbing when suddenly her foot slipped, and she fell backwards.
