Now they had unexpectedly arrived at the same place at the same time.

When Lu Yi saw Shen Heyu, he took the initiative to greet her, smiling as he said, "Heyu, I didn’t expect to meet you here."

"I’m traveling with Yansi," Shen Heyu felt the low pressure emanating from the man beside her and considering the seven-day agreement she had promised him, decided to comply with what he wanted, engaging in conversation with Lu Yi.

This response evidently pleased the man.

She could tell that he was definitely feeling distressed.

Their relationship could only be that of friends.

There was no need to keep fishing for who and those impossible feelings that consistently hooked him.

Lu Yi asked, "Do you mind if we share a table?"

Pei Yansi wanted to refuse; they had already had Shen Jiangli come to share their table last time.

The three of them had dined together in the restaurant, and he didn’t even want to think about that meal now.

But Shen Heyu had already agreed.

His expression immediately darkened again.

Feeling his mood shift, Shen Heyu hastened to explain, "It’s peak dining time, and there are no more seats available here."

Upon hearing this, Pei Yansi scanned the restaurant and indeed, there were none.

He couldn’t help but frown, wondering what kind of hotel Zhao Jin had arranged, one where even the restaurant was packed to capacity.

The three of them had no choice but to share a table.

When the waiter brought the menu, before Pei Yansi could make a move, her boyfriend had already pushed the menu to Shen Heyu’s side, saying, "Take a look at what you’d like to eat first."

Shen Heyu gave him a slight smile, thanked him, and took the menu seriously to order.

Pei Yansi clenched his teeth and silently watched everything.

He suddenly realized that he wasn’t feeling as dark and terrible as when he faced Shen Jiangli, nor was he speculating about Shen Heyu’s relationship with them.

He had changed his perspective to see how she interacted with others.

Perhaps, Lu Yi’s direct approach was more acceptable to her. Their forthrightness in treating her well was very clear, needing no guesswork.

In contrast, as Zhao Jin said, he was too reserved, having already hurt her six years ago. It was hard for his current kindness to be convincing, so he had to put in millions of times more effort for Shen Heyu to see it.

Pei Yansi suddenly realized this.

Previously, when faced with her being with other men, he always irrationally doubted and speculated about her, even getting angry with her.

But upon closer thought, all these were beyond his control.

He was always jealous of her interactions with others, yet he never considered why she was unwilling to interact with him.

Pei Yansi realized her subtle action.

She was afraid of herself.

It wasn’t out of instinct, like how she treated Lu Yi, where she subconsciously handed him the menu.

The emotions were different.

Lu Yi also handed it directly to the waiter.

Pei Yansi quietly observed him, wanting to see how they truly understood each other.

Only then could Shen Heyu accept it.

In a short while, the waiter had served all the dishes.

As soon as the dishes were placed on the table, Lu Yi picked up some seafood for Shen Heyu, saying, "This is your favorite seafood."

Shen Heyu smiled slightly, thanked him, and didn’t refuse.

Pei Yansi watched this scene and seemed to understand.

Then he also picked some food for Shen Heyu and casually said, "I remember you also love this. Try it and see how it tastes."

After speaking, he felt that merely copying Lu Yi’s gesture was insincere and appeared rigid.

He then picked up a different bowl and prepared a bowl of soup for Shen Heyu.

He also picked up a spoon and said to her, "I’ll feed you."

Shen Heyu paused, looked at him with a strange expression, unsure of what he was up to.

But under his intense gaze, she couldn’t refuse and obediently drank the soup he offered.

Pei Yansi watched her lips part and close as they sipped the soup he fed her, a satisfied smile curling at the corners of his mouth. He seemingly casually asked Lu Yi,

"Doctor Lu, what brings you here today?"

Lu Yi replied, "There’s an academic research at the hospital, they sent me abroad. Perhaps the timing just happened to coincide with yours."

A deep, unfathomable smile spread across Pei Yansi’s eyes, "Is that so."

He clearly didn’t believe it.

Lu Yi didn’t seem to want to prove his innocence, as he had no obligation to report his whereabouts to Pei Yansi.

So, he didn’t say anything more.

The dinner progressed with each person harboring their own thoughts.

Afterward, Shen Heyu was the first to head back to her room. Pei Yansi followed closely behind her, bidding farewell to Lu Yi.

Back in the room, Yuexue was still asleep.

Pei Yansi lowered his voice and said, "He must have followed you here."

Shen Heyu knew who he meant by "he".

She frowned and said, "Stop talking nonsense; he’s already said it was for the hospital’s academic research."

"The timing is the same as ours, and it’s confirmed to be on the same flight. Do you think such coincidences exist in the world? Just this afternoon, he was still at the hospital talking to you, with a bunch of interns following him."

Pei Yansi left it at that.

But in doing so, it was as if he had said everything.

A doctor who was supervising interns couldn’t possibly have left to participate in an academic research.

Moreover, the timelines matched exactly.

He clearly came following her.

But Shen Heyu found it hard to believe.

Why would Lu Yi have any need to follow her? He wasn’t that kind of person.
