She Asks for a Divorce Again
Chapter 224 Concerning

Chapter 224: Chapter 224 Concerning

And he knew that the cause of tying himself down was himself.

So-called self-inflicted suffering cannot live.

Shen Jiangli lowered his head and watched as the nurses pushed Han Manyin into the adjacent ward.

It was a VIP ward, which he had reserved for her from the start.

After the nurses had pushed her in, he followed.

Shen Heyu, seeing this, followed suit.

In the ward, after the nurses made initial records of Han Manyin’s various vital signs, they gave Shen Jiangli multiple cautions before leaving.

The ward quieted down.

Shen Jiangli pulled up a chair and sat by the bed, looking down at Han Manyin’s face. He had to admit, she indeed was very beautiful, bearing a resemblance to Shen Heyu’s face.

But now, her face was pale, her eyes tightly closed, and she appeared utterly lifeless.

Shen Heyu walked over to him and whispered comfortingly, "I hope you get well soon."

She said nothing to absolve him of guilt, as after all, it was indeed his fault.

No matter what Han Manyin was like, since he was a man, Shen Heyu believed that it was wrong for him to have laid hands on her.

More than that, she hoped that he would heal quickly, curing his psychological ailments.

It was terrifying that he had hidden it so well; Shen Heyu had never noticed it all these years.

Pei Yansi, seeing her caring about another man, felt uneasy. He stepped forward, pulled her into his arms, and said, "Don’t care too much about others."

Especially other men.

He felt irritated.

Shen Heyu knew he was being unreasonably jealous again and frowned without speaking.

Shen Jiangli then said, "I’m fine, you can go ahead, I’ve got this handled here."

Moreover, she and Han Manyin had always been at odds; her staying would naturally make her uncomfortable, too.

One should bear their own mistakes.

He was supposed to stay by Han Manyin’s side.

Shen Heyu did not wish to stay any longer either, knowing that psychological illnesses, unless provoked, wouldn’t cause problems. The source of provocation now lay on the hospital bed.

Nothing would likely happen to Shen Jiangli now.

She nodded and said, "If anything happens, contact me."

He said nothing, just lowered his head to look at Han Manyin, and his silence was as good as an agreement.

Seeing him like this, Shen Heyu didn’t say much more and turned to leave.

Pei Yansi followed her.

"Grandma wants to see you," he said.

Shen Heyu turned to look at him, willing to show a good attitude towards Grandma.

"Is she feeling better?"

Pei Yansi nodded, "She’s being discharged today. I came to pick her up."

Shen Heyu thought about the old lady’s hospitalization over the past few days, and how she really hadn’t visited much as Pei Yansi had recommended.

She felt a bit guilty.

After all, the lady had really treated her well over the past few years.

Thinking this, Shen Heyu didn’t hesitate much and walked into the old lady’s ward.

With Zhao Jing’s help, the old lady was packing up for discharge. Suddenly seeing Shen Heyu arrive, she was startled at first but then smiled widely and said:

"Heyu is here, I thought you wouldn’t visit this old lady today."

She said with a smile, caressing Heyu’s hand while looking at her with loving eyes.

Heyu met her doting gaze and felt a warmth in her heart.

She explained, "I’ve been busy these past few days, so I couldn’t visit grandma. You’re not mad at me, are you?"

The old lady laughed, "How could I be mad at you? You’re young, you’ve got your own things to attend to. How could you stay by this old lady’s side all the time?"

"But," she paused and then continued, "I’m getting old, and I fear loneliness. If you really want to keep me company, why not have another child with Yansi..."

"Grandma," Heyu quickly interrupted before she could finish.

She knew very well that the older generation could shift any conversation towards the topic of having children in no time.

The old lady, realizing she had unsettled Heyu, didn’t continue but simply followed Zhao Jing out with a smile.

Heyu took the opportunity to escort her out of the hospital.

She and Pei Yansi walked side by side behind the old lady.

Pei Yansi whispered in a voice only audible to them, "I think what grandma said is something you could consider."

"What are you talking about?"

Heyu regretted her question the moment she asked it. In the hospital room, the old lady had only talked about one thing.

Her face suddenly turned cold. "Impossible."

Pei Yansi merely acknowledged with an "Oh," and said no more.

They both escorted the old lady back to the Pei family’s old house.

Upon returning home, the old lady went straight to her room to rest, without asking them to accompany her.

When people get old, though they fear loneliness, they actually enjoy some time alone even more.

Heyu didn’t disturb her and sat alone in the bedroom, pondering what to do if Pei Yansi didn’t keep his promise to let her go after seven days.

Pei Yansi was in the study working, unaware that Heyu was still thinking about how to leave him after seven days.

The study door was opened by Zhao Jing while Zhao Jin held a stack of documents, addressing Pei Yansi, "President Pei, we’ve found some new leads regarding Miss Shen’s death."

Pei Yansi paused in his work.

Since he learned that Heyu was not involved in his sister’s death, he had Zhao Jing continuously search for the truth in secret.

But after so many years, nearly a decade, any clues had likely been thoroughly eradicated by the others.

Yet Pei Yansi had never thought about giving up.

Not to reminisce about his sister, but to prove to Heyu and use this matter to clear her of her prior accusations.

Those who truly saw her as a murderer should apologize to her when the truth is unveiled. And he was admittedly one of those people.

"Our people have found that the person who took Miss Shen from the bar that night was one of Shen Jiangli’s right-hand men."

"Shen Jiangli?"

Pei Yansi couldn’t believe it could be linked to him.

But how could it be?

Zhao Jing confidently said, "We haven’t made a mistake. That bar is one of the rare businesses owned by Shen Jiangli’s family in the country, and on the night Miss Shen met her tragedy, he had just returned to the country with his right-hand men."

Pei Yansi frowned slightly.

If Heyu finds out about this, she would be heartbroken, but she wouldn’t let it go.

But why would Shen Jiangli do this?

And why keep it hidden all these years?

Worried it might just be a misunderstanding, Pei Yansi added, "Do you have solid evidence that the mishap involving Miss Shen is related to his right-hand man?"

Zhao Jing nodded, "Yes, these documents are their confessions, and there’s also a video. The video is enough to prove that he, erroneously, caused Miss Shen’s death."
