Seoul Object Story
Chapter 84: The Kkachisan Conference (10)

Plop-!

The researcher from Trinity flung a corpse into the lake. Contaminating the only drinkable water source didn’t seem to faze him in the slightest. After all, staying in this cave was never part of his long-term plan.

He chuckled darkly at his own musings.

When someone comes, I’ll show them this lake and tell them it’s drinking water. Hehehe!! It would be so cathartic to see how their eyes will widen when they see the bodies at the bottom!!!

And when they turn back, booo!! I will have transformed into an evolved being! Their horrified expressions will be priceless!! Kekekeekeke!!

He laughed maniacally, canning the area to ensure no corpses had been overlooked.

Why was he being so vigilant?

It was because of a strange incident! The corpse of the girl on the altar and the man in the black suit, both of them were gone! Only blood stains and pieces of internal organs were left behind!

He clearly had no memories of disposing of them but they were somehow gone!

It was really baffling.

Thinking he must’ve forgotten about the corpses after disposing them absentmindedly, from that moment on, he worked meticulously being careful not to make the same mistake again.

Thanks to his efforts, what had once been a cave overflowing with dismembered corpses was now completely empty, marked only by dark stains and the lingering stench of blood.

The metallic stench of blood should eventually dissipate, but the stains were beyond removal.

“Huh? Why isn’t the smell of blood going away??! If it stays like this, I’ll be in trouble,” he muttered, slumping against the cave wall. His eyes gleamed with a deranged anticipation as he awaited the arrival of the living sacrifice.

*******

Even when I looked everywhere while inside the sand, I couldn’t see any traces of people.

Yay!! Hehe, Operation ‘Shark in the Sand™’ had successfully chased away all the pesky people loitering around the red skull! Now, I just needed to check if anyone was hiding in the cave.

As I got closer, the thick stench of blood tickled my nose. Moreover, it was human blood, eww.

“Huh? Why isn’t the smell of blood going away??! If it stays like this, I’ll be in trouble,” came an irritated voice from inside the cave.

Intrigued, I followed the voice into the cave, only to find it covered in blood. The floor, the walls, and even the ceiling were all painted red. It was like someone had gone wild with a very gross paintbrush.

The blood hadn’t even solidified yet, as a result, it made these weird, drippy patterns on the walls. Oh! As a bonus, the floor was littered with bits and pieces of human flesh. So yucky!

And in the middle of it all, a man sat calmly. No, wait, not a man—a monster.

The “thing” looked human, but it wasn’t. It was a hideous mix of human and Object, filled with terrible malice towards humans.

When he heard my footsteps, his face lit up with a creepy grin.

“Oh~ Hello there… Nice to…”

But as soon as he saw me, he got all pale, backing away fast. “G-Gray Reaper! Why is the Gray Reaper here all of a sudden?”

He was far more scared than I expected. Why tho?

“A…ah! Wait…you don’t attack humans, right? I’m a human! Hahahaha!”

Kek! A monster who called itself a human! So funny! Well, to me, he looked more dangerous than any Object.

I ignored his babbling and walked forward.

“D-did you really notice? But how?! N-No! They promised me! Those bastards from the research institute promised I would never be discovered!”

The man, backed into a corner(Keke! Both literally and metaphorically) looked even more desperate.

“No! I don’t want to die!! Please! Please spare me! Please! I beg you!!”

As I got closer, he panicked, his clothes exploding off him as he turned into a monster. The smell coming from his body became even more horrid, so I scrunched my face and took a few steps back.

“T-that’s right! I am strong enough. Even if it’s the Gray Reaper, there’s no need for me to be afraid!” he muttered to himself, thinking he had a chance now.

Hah! Did seeing me take a few steps back make him think I was scared? What an idiot… In reality, he was an insect, no, a water flea if compared to me.

“I can win. I can win!” he chanted, twirling his whip-like hand. He kicked the ground so hard that the rocks shattered, and lashed out at me.

I just slipped into my phantom form, letting his ugly hand pass through me before I materialized once again.

“Kriiiiieeeek!”

His arm was instantly cut off.

The ugly monster rolled around on the floor clutching his arm, well what was once his hand.

After a while, the blood vessels throughout his body began to run amok.

His blood vessels went berserk, it was as if his blood was trying to escape his body.

“No! The balance! Argggggggh!”

The monster writhed violently, his limbs twisting and turning with crunching sounds. Then, all of a sudden, everything was silent.

Was it dea—

Before I could finish that thought, it exploded with a loud ‘pop’.

What remained was some tar-black blood along with a terrible odor.

Ew, what was this? Toxic waste? Definitely harmful to humans. It smelled so gross that I didn’t even want to touch it.

For fun, I summoned a Golden Reaper making sure it came from within the black blood.

Yop! A Golden Reaper popped out while striking a cute pose.

But then it saw the black blood all over its body and freaked out, falling to the floor in tears. Aw, poor reaper~!

It lay down in the middle of the puddle, it had an expression of pure despair on its face, it was as if the world had ended and there was no hope for a better future.

I laughed at it, slipping in and out of my phantom form. The Golden Reaper saw that and did the same, shaking off the black blood and perking up.

Oh~ I figured it out sooner than I thought.

After it was done with its little celebration, it came toward me and started hitting me with its little hands.

Huff-! Hmph-!

Oh, you are sooo angry~ Aw~

Still seething with anger, the little reaper’s attack didn’t seem to stop.

I put the Golden Reaper on top of my head as it kept hitting me and explored deeper into the cave. Even though the cave was full of bloodstains, there were no corpses inside. I soon figured out why—the lake inside was full of corpses.

Ugh, guess I can’t drink the water from this lake.

*******

I sat on top of the red skull’s head and looked up at the red moon for a long time.

Even though quite a bit of time had passed since I arrived, there was no hint that the night would end anytime soon. The red moon still hung high in the sky, shining brightly.

When I looked down, all I could see was the horizon. Even though the skull I was sitting on was fairly high, the desert stretched out as far as the eye could see.

The ground below was littered with fragments of a shattered statue. It had tried to kick me as I was leaving the cave. So rude!

So, I just gave it a little “pow” and that was the result… It’s not my fault! It hit me first, well at least it tried to.

Above my head, one of the Golden Reapers was sleeping peacefully. Every now and then, the little bugger would even punch me in its sleep! Just how angry it must be, to keep doing something like that?

Anyway, the reason I was staring at the red moon was that I was trying to figure out the ‘center of the desert’.

The Golden Reapers were already spread evenly throughout the desert, but I still didn’t know where exactly the center of the desert was.

This whole place was a neat spherical dome, but my position within it kept changing. At first, I thought the desert was flowing like a river or something, but then it hit me… The whole dome was moving!

No matter how I looked at it, the center of the desert seemed to always be beneath that moving moon.

Hmm… All the humans in this dome had a Golden Reaper with them now, so they were safe. Hehe! Everyone in the desert was safe!!

There was also no one around the red skull anymore, which meant it was time to wake the red skull up.

I jumped down from the red skull and gathered the Golden Reapers.

Let’s get this show on the road!

*******

I stood on top of the sand dune, looking at the red skull, which was as big as a mountain. It kind of looked impressive from here…

Behind me, there was a long line of unemployed Reapers who couldn’t find humans to attach to. Tch, Tch, poor things, just waiting for their turn.

Khhm! Finally, I used my ‘Eyes’ to check the killing conditions for the skull.

[ Destruction of the heart. ]

As soon as I looked at the red skull’s killing condition, the desert began to pulsate. Oh, here we go!

Blaze-!

A pillar of fire shot up from the sand, and sparks poured down like a fiery waterfall on the red skull.

The stone pieces attached to it melted away, revealing an old, powerful, red skull. Its fiery eyes shone brightly as it raised its gigantic body, and the cave-like trail disappeared, leaving only a lake of underground water welling up.

Even though only its upper body had emerged from the sand, it was already as big as a building. Inside its ribs, a burning heart could be seen sticking to the bone.

Hmm, maybe that’s its weakness!

Thud-!

Thud-! Thud-!

The sound of heavy footsteps echoed as the skeleton, with only its top half showing, walked toward us. It cut through the sand as if it were water, glaring at me with its fiercely burning eyes.

Before long, it opened its empty, fleshless mouth wide and spouted fire.

Its size alone was terrifying, yet it could even spit out flames hot enough to melt the sand into glass?

If an ordinary person faced it, they would be sooooo scared, right? Poor person…

Well, to me, it just looked like a cheap knock-off of Ghostrider. So cute, Mr. Skeleton~

Standing in the middle of the fierce fire, I smiled confidently. Hehehe! The Golden Reapers and I are completely fine! Kekeke!

Hehe, so I pointed at the skull and declared, That skull is dangerous! It’s a major threat to humans!

As soon as they heard me, the Golden Reapers charged toward the skeleton from behind me, swarming over it like termites gnawing on wood, the high-temperature fire protecting the skeleton was useless against them.

Even though the skeleton tried to swat them away with its large hand, it was a futile effort. Even more, Golden Reapers just took the place of the ones flung away.

Despite the red skull’s fierce resistance, a Golden Reaper was finally able to pierce through its heart. Almost immediately, like a water balloon with a hole in it, the heart poured out sparks.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-!

All of a sudden a strange rumble echoed through the desert from the skeleton’s entire body only to stop when the red skeleton supported its falling body with both of its arms.

The Golden Reaper also stopped whatever it was they were doing and looked up at the skeleton.

For some reason, the faintly flickering flames in the skull’s eye sockets seemed to be staring at me.

However, unlike before, its eyes were strangely calm and filled with emotion.

As sparks spewed out from its wounds, the heart slowly stopped beating completely.

Soon after, the red skull crumbled into powder and scattered in the wind.

Hehe! Mission accomplished!!

*******

A huge cloud of dust flew into the air as the gigantic red skull fell. It was so massive that it took forever for the dust to settle down. The heart of the red skeleton as well as all of its bones had turned into powder and scattered with the wind.

All that remained now was its still-glowing skull.

Hmm…. Now, someone just needs to dance on top of it, right?

I turned around to see if the Golden Reaper would dance for me, but they just smiled innocently.

Ugh… Is this revenge for earlier? How annoying!
