Seoul Object Story -
Chapter 336: Epilogue of the World at the End (5)
The newly created isolation room in the corner of Sehee Research Institute was filled with an unexpected sight.
The room had transformed into a playground for Mini Reapers.
On the bed, Golden Reapers were bouncing on the soft blanket, inflating it like a balloon to use as a trampoline.
Across from the bed, the table was covered with all kinds of snacks.
Black Reapers had gathered around it, nibbling on the snacks with bright expressions.
In the center of the room stood the Lead Doll, surrounded by Mini Reapers and White Hungry Ghosts waiting their turn.
On the Lead Doll’s lap, a small Golden Reaper was bouncing up and down, looking up at the doll.
‘Pat me!’
The Lead Doll responded with a gentle smile, slowly patting the Golden Reaper as it had wished.
Watching this scene from outside the isolation room, Seo-ah was reviewing a report.
The report was titled.
It contained the results of tests on the types of wishes the Lead Doll responded to and the risks associated with their realization.
After finishing the report, Seo-ah closed it and spoke.
“It certainly doesn’t seem dangerous.”
“Then!” Yerin exclaimed, cutting off Seo-ah’s words with excitement, but Seo-ah shook her head.
“Still, we can’t keep it outside the institute as Researcher Oh Yerin suggested.”
“Aww.”
Behind them, James and the tattooed alchemist were engaged in conversation.
“So the doll’s words meant ‘That wish has been granted’? No matter how I look at it, this ‘Kingdom Language’ is quite complex.”
“Well, this language is more about realization than learning. It’s rather surprising that you were able to interpret even a little.”
James slowly walked forward, peering through the glass window into the isolation room, and spoke.
“Its appearance is similar to the Gray Reaper, but its behavior is completely different. An Object that grants all requests, how benevolent…”
The tattooed woman approached James and muttered as if truly regretful.
“If only the Gray Reaper were such an Object… It’s really a shame. We might even be able to remove all Objects from the world through alchemy.”
The alchemist seemed very interested in experiments and research involving the Gray Reaper, perhaps because she had sensed limitless potential in its energy when crafting the sword previously.
“Well…”
James stroked his chin slowly after hearing the alchemist’s words and murmured.
“No matter how I think about it, I don’t see a particularly good future coming.”
James was watching the Lead Doll with a serious expression as it performed ‘Daejji’ on a Golden Reaper at the request of a White Hungry Ghost.
On the shallow Marshmallow Plains connected to the courtyard in the Mini Reaper Garden.
I was lying there, peering into a small TV connected by a line to the courtyard.
[Concerns are growing over the unidentified ‘Cognitive Ability Loss’ incidents occurring recently, centered around Seoul.]
[According to police, over 20 similar cases have been reported in the past 3 months.]
[Victims reportedly suddenly lose cognitive abilities and become unable to recognize their surroundings.]
[Particularly shocking are reports of victims’ eyes losing their luster, appearing to stare into space.]
[So far, no particular commonalities have been identified among victims in terms of age, gender, or occupation.]
While the news hadn’t definitively linked it to Objects yet, my intuition told me it was likely related to an Object.
Well, I’m not 100% certain, so it could be something else.
To confirm this, I exuded my will towards the Golden Reaper clinging tightly to my cheek.
‘They say an evil Object did that.’
But the Golden Reaper, perhaps because it was only looking at my face and not watching the TV at all, just tilted its head in confusion, not understanding.
Come to think of it, Golden Reapers have never been interested in TV, but they’ve always gathered around me when I watch it…
Are they trying to steal my snacks?
When I explained in detail what had happened, the Golden Reaper clenched its fists with an extremely angry expression.
‘Bad Object!’
Then it ran off somewhere.
Now I just have to wait, and the Golden Reapers will take care of everything, right?
Hehe.
As I was watching the Golden Reaper set off somewhere with a grin, I began to hear a faint will from somewhere.
[No! I will never give up!]
When I turned my head, I saw the play that had recently become popular among the Mini Reapers was being performed.
It was already quite popular, but this newly revised version was receiving even more praise from the Mini Reapers.
‘Amazing!’
Looking around the performance area, Mini Reapers were densely gathered, watching as if cheering them on.
Especially the Blue Reapers, huddled together in a corner among the Mini Reapers, were watching with sparkling eyes.
<Brave!>
<Cool!>
They were so passionate that they occasionally floated small phrases in water-made text strings.
Originally, it was a one-person play performed by the Yellow Reaper controlling multiple doll costumes, but in the revised version, other reapers sometimes appeared as actors too.
[It reached. My magic….]
Turning my gaze, I saw the Blue Idol Reaper performing with a serious expression.
It seemed that while other Blue Reapers would never be able to do this, this one actually enjoyed acting.
[Please burn all the legs!]
Kyuhinghing.
As the Blue Idol Reaper performing created a Word Spirit, all the limbs of its counterpart, the White Hungry Ghost, burned away and disappeared.
That White Hungry Ghost was actually the revived version of the one that had fought with the Blue Idol Reaper before.
A White Hungry Ghost walking on two legs and wearing a white necktie like the Butler Hungry Ghost.
It was burning, tearing, and freezing every time there was a performance, but that was its karma, so it couldn’t be helped.
I watched the White Hungry Ghost flailing about with its whole body on fire while slowly eating the popcorn laid out abundantly in the performance area.
Hehe.
The pink girl, who had left the Mini Reaper Garden and entered Sehee Research Institute, was turning her gaze here and there as if dizzy, unable to collect herself.
‘So many people!’
No matter how much she searched her memories, the girl who had never met anyone but her grandfather found Sehee Research Institute overwhelmingly crowded.
It was truly chaotic!
The girl was so nervous that her body stiffened, and her eyes kept scanning her surroundings restlessly.
This was despite the fact that only a minimum number of people were guiding her for security reasons.
Seeing this, the Blue Idol Reaper patted the pink girl’s cheek and conveyed its will.
[It’ll be okay. Don’t worry.]
Touched by the Blue Idol Reaper’s will, the pink girl felt her heart calm a little.
“Thank you.”
The pink girl smiled softly and stroked the Blue Idol Reaper’s head.
Click.
The room the pink girl arrived at was a small conference room set up in a corner of Sehee Research Institute.
“Hello.”
Inside the conference room was a tattooed woman with a somewhat fierce expression, grinning and waving her hand.
A familiar language.
For the pink girl, surrounded by unfamiliar sounds in this Sehee Research Institute, suddenly hearing the ‘Kingdom Language’ made her feel incredibly relieved.
Phew.
A sigh escaped from the pink girl’s mouth as if she had been holding her breath.
Then the tattooed woman spoke, looking at the pink girl.
“Well then, let’s start with the basics.”
The tattooed woman and the pink girl talked about various things.
What happened in the Tower of the End and its conclusion.
And everything that happened afterwards.
The alchemist entered the room, placing a thick report on the desk.
James raised his head at the sound.
“Were there any notable findings?”
“A few things.”
The alchemist replied, sitting down with a slightly confused expression.
“It seems more time has passed than I expected. There might be a gap of several hundred years between that girl and me.”
But James only made a small ‘hmm’ sound upon hearing this.
“You anticipated this, I see?”
“I thought as much. I’ve been thinking that since you said you’d never seen the blue-haired girl. If you look at the excavated artifacts, it seems that blue girl was quite a famous figure.”
The alchemist stood up after hearing James’s words.
“And there’s no problem with the girl’s shadow. The loss was due to losing memories and recollections, so it should recover as she builds new memories.”
“The Shadow-Eating Grimoire is quite famous. Alchemists who left regrets in life sometimes become such grimoires.”
After discussing the report with James like that, the alchemist said it was time to return to her sister and left.
Once the alchemist had gone, James began to skim through the report she had left behind.
[The black planet that appeared in the sky still hasn’t disappeared and is slowly approaching.]
[Although the black planet has no physical form, many people on Earth are feeling anxious.]
[In response, the Object Council has….]
[….]
As the sound of turning pages occasionally broke the silence of the room, the TV sound flowed like background music.
In the sky of the Republic of Korea, where Cloud Fish were lazily flying about.
A golden comet was streaking between the Cloud Fish.
It was the Golden Armored Reaper, flying all over Korea and turning harmful Objects to dust.
‘!’
At that moment, the Golden Armored Reaper received some kind of message and began looking up at the sky with a serious expression.
Information about a harmful Object had been uploaded to the Golden Reaper Network.
‘Harmful Object!’
‘It’s making people dazed!’
Upon hearing this news, the Golden Armored Reaper began flying towards Seoul.
