Chapter 330: The World at the End (11)

The Tower of the End, the topmost floor.

A giant spider with black carapace was endlessly spewing out pipes.

‘Building the tower.’

‘Continuously, eternally.’

‘Until the tower fulfills its purpose.’

The spider, having long surpassed its designed operational lifespan, was falling apart.

Its eyes, shattered long ago, no longer reflected reality but showed a very distant past.

They were all nostalgic dreams related to the spider’s master.

[Well done. You’ve made a lot today too.]

[This is bad. We’re out of materials. We need to find more somehow.]

[How about today? Bearing the ‘eye’ must be difficult, but please endure a little longer. I’ll find a solution soon.]

[I’ve found a way. It’s from the records of ancient alchemists who worked with jade.]

[I’m sorry.]

[I’m truly sorry.]

But the dreams were fragmented, no longer able to be properly remembered.

Creak. Screech.

The spider, which had been endlessly producing pipes, suddenly stopped with a sound like grinding metal.

The halo resting atop the spider’s head flickered like a broken fluorescent light.

And it began to lose its light, growing darker.

‘Plunderer….’

Like Icarus flying towards the sun, the spider that had been endlessly building a tower towards the sky turned its gaze downward.

---

An unidentified resort filled with Black Reapers.

I was holding a Black Reaper that seemed to have devoured the Golden-Mecha-Tyranno Armor, vigorously rubbing its chubby cheeks.

‘Waaah!’

Perhaps because I had been rubbing for so long, the cheeks of the Black Reapers who had eaten the dinosaur armor were starting to swell up plumply.

These kids are nearly physically immune, yet this is happening.

Hehe.

After venting my frustrations sufficiently, I released the Black Reapers, and other Black Reapers swarmed in.

‘Cheeks are puffy!’

‘Squishy squishy!’

The gathered Black Reapers began poking the swollen-cheeked Black Reapers or suddenly biting them.

Looking down like this, the Black Reapers certainly resemble the Golden Reapers.

They just seemed a bit more passive and slightly less energetic.

The Black Reapers were happily rolling around together when suddenly, as if remembering something, they all swarmed around my ankles.

‘Mom!’

‘We protected the temple!’

‘We cleaned!’

‘We gathered faith!’

‘Even when no one was there, we kept waiting and waiting!’

Then they started tugging on my toes vigorously.

‘Did we do well?’

The Black Reapers clinging to my feet looked innocent yet somehow anxious.

‘Yes, you did well.’

Though I wasn’t sure what the significance of the Black Reapers’ actions was, I hugged each one and praised them.

The Black Reapers then melted as if rewarded, shedding a tear or two.

‘Hehe.’

‘It’s Mom.’

‘Gentle Mom.’

Well, they may have crushed and eaten the dinosaur armor, but it’s not really these kids’ fault.

As I gathered the Black Reapers and rolled around with them, I felt a bit more at ease.

I could just have James make another one, so why had I been so impatient?

As I was floating leisurely on the rippling water surface like that, a loud sound rang out.

Beeeep-!

A massive sound like the clear cry of a Black Reaper amplified 100 times.

Simultaneously, a peculiarly shaped Hungry Ghost began to reveal itself urgently.

A black Hungry Ghost with long legs that somehow looked sad.

At a glance, it was clearly made up of many Black Reapers clustered together.

---

The Tower of the End, amid the ruins of collapsed buildings.

The Blue Reaper was looking down at the Tooth Ghoul, which was crumbling into powder bit by bit.

[Haa. Haa.]

Perhaps from using Word Spirit, the Blue Reaper’s chest was heaving up and down as if out of breath.

‘I won!’

To have defeated the Tooth Ghoul, an Object as powerful as the White Hungry Ghost!

It was an incredible achievement against an opponent that the usual Blue Reaper wouldn’t have been able to properly withstand.

Hehe.

The Blue Reaper was so delighted by this fact that it smiled slightly.

‘And I protected my Attachment Human!’

At that moment, a terrible noise began to reach the Blue Reaper’s ears.

‘!!!’

Creak. Screech.

A sound like a poorly oiled machine being forced to move.

Simultaneously, a massive shadow began to slowly cover the ground.

Though not that close, it was the shadow of a spider so enormous it obscured most of the sky.

‘The Sun-Eating Spider!’

A spider as vast as the giant discs that formed each layer was revealing itself.

An Object incomparably more powerful than the Tooth Ghoul.

That spider was looking down directly at the Blue Reaper.

‘It’s hostile towards me….’

The Blue Reaper tightly gripped its microphone staff, looking up at the sky with a tense expression.

The spider that appeared on the disc like that was somehow broken.

Black carapace cracked and tattered all over.

Flesh glowing red like magma visible through the cracks.

Glassy, unfocused eyes.

Joints that made terrible noises with every movement.

Its appearance resembled Mom experiencing the side effects of the Halo.

Creak. Screech.

It breaks down more with every movement.

As it slowly approached the Blue Reaper, fragments were crumbling and falling off.

Thud. Thud.

And those fragments fell onto the disc with heavy thuds.

The Blue Reaper stood near its Attachment Human, looking up at the spider while preparing a Word Spirit.

‘It’s incredibly strong. And looks somehow dangerous.’

The spider looked down at the Blue Reaper like that for a while, then suddenly, without any warning, brought its massive leg down towards the Blue Reaper.

‘!’

[Protect us all!]

[An invincible waterdrop shield!]

The Blue Reaper put its mouth to the microphone as if singing, creating a Word Spirit.

Boom.

The waterdrop that appeared with that Word Spirit easily blocked even the attack of such a massive spider.

‘I’ve gotten stronger.’

‘At this rate, I might be able to win.’

I can protect my Attachment Human!

Just as the Blue Reaper was wearing a confident expression like that, the Halo atop the spider’s head began to emit an intense white light.

Rip.

At that moment, the sound of something tearing could be heard.

‘Huh?’

Simultaneously, the Blue Reaper’s eyes lost their light, and all sound vanished from the world.

‘It’s dark. I can’t see. I can’t hear.’

And a beat later, terrible pain arrived.

The pain of both eyes being torn apart.

[It hurts. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts.]

The Blue Reaper clutched both eyes and collapsed on the spot.

[Mom…. It hurts so much.]

In the darkness where nothing could be seen or felt, the Blue Reaper searched for Mom with a small will.

---

A truly massive tower of steel pipes.

Or should I even call this a tower?

A giant staircase made for giants? A structure?

Anyway, I was climbing such a massive structure at high speed, riding on the back of the Black Hungry Ghost Demon.

Perhaps because it was made of ‘Black Reapers’, the Black Hungry Ghost Demon was incredibly fast and strong despite its flabby, octopus-like movements.

Maybe one step of the Black Hungry Ghost Demon is similar to a whole day’s worth of my steps?

‘The blue child is in danger.’

The Black Hungry Ghost Demon didn’t even think about eating my fuel, just urgently transporting me.

It probably means the Blue Reaper is in danger.

But no matter how far I extended my senses, I couldn’t feel the Blue Reaper’s location.

I could clearly sense it before, so when did it become undetectable?

Feeling slightly anxious, I stood on top of the Black Hungry Ghost Demon’s head.

Looking down from atop the Hungry Ghost’s head like that, this tower seemed to have a structure that spiraled endlessly upward towards the sky like a spiral staircase.

‘The fuel is warm.’

‘Eat it quickly.’

The Black Reapers riding on top of the Black Hungry Ghost Demon were urging the Black Reapers that made up the Hungry Ghost to eat the fuel.

How many layers had we jumped past riding the Black Hungry Ghost Demon like that?

A spider as massive as those layers began to come into view.

On a layer that had become complete ruins, a giant spider Object wearing a Halo and the Blue Reaper collapsed while clutching both eyes could be seen.

‘!’

I looked at that scene using my ‘Eye’, wearing a fierce smile.

In my eyes, the spider’s destruction condition, was visible.

It’s the same destruction condition as the Hungry Ghost Demon.

---

The Tower of the End, on a ruined layer.

On that layer, there was an underground space plunged into endless darkness without a single light.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Large vibrations began to echo several times in the underground filled with darkness deeply asleep in nostalgia.

But even such violent shockwaves couldn’t break the underground’s silence.

At that moment, a single point of golden light fell into that place, as still as a sea of darkness.

It was an extremely small fragment of the fuel emitted by the Gray Reaper.

‘It’s warm.’

But that single light, that single warmth, shattered the endless silence.

‘Mom has come!’

A short fragment of will.

The moment that fragment of will spread, hundreds and thousands of golden eyes simultaneously opened in the underground space filled with darkness.

‘Mom!’

And a black torrent surged up from the underground space.

It was a torrent of Black Reapers that had been buried deep under the layer like oil.

‘Mom is here!’

‘It’s the real Mom!’

The Black Reapers, awakened from their long slumber, ignored the spider, the Halo, humans, and all surrounding circumstances.

They saw only one thing.

Mom!

The Black Reapers surrounded the Gray Reaper, which they sensed as Mom, in a familiar form.

‘Mom has gotten smaller.’

‘Is Mom still sick?’

‘Why are you so small?’

‘We need to help Mom!’

And so, the Gray Reaper ended up wearing a Black Giant Doll Suit.

That appearance looked as if it had donned a night sky full of stars.
