Seoul Object Story -
Chapter 323: The World at the End (4)
On a field that rustled like sand.
The pink girl was looking around with an extremely tense expression.
“There’s nowhere to escape…”
As time passed and the sky grew darker, the shadow realm obscured by the sky curtain began to stretch towards where the pink girl and the Blue Reaper were.
No matter where they looked, front, back, left, or right, there was no visible escape route that didn’t touch the shadows.
The monsters, writhing as if melting in the shadows, slowly, slowly approached along the shadow realm.
The monsters in the shadows were staring intently at the Attachment Human’s shadow, which had been torn so much that little remained.
As if staring at delicious food.
Some monsters prowled around the pink girl, while others furiously clawed at the ground.
Boom. Boom.
The Blue Reaper felt like it was drifting on a tiny boat in the middle of a sea filled with harmful evolution fluid.
Meanwhile, some monsters, unable to wait for the darkness to spread, poked their heads out of the shadows, but the monsters’ bodies that touched the faint light realm instantly melted away.
Seeing this, the Blue Reaper began to embroider text strings in the air.
<Please repel the shadows with light!>
As those text strings scattered like water mist, dozens of light spheres the size of the Blue Reaper’s head floated up towards the sky.
They gathered in a circle as if to protect the Blue Reaper and the Mom Golem, bobbing gently.
The spheres lined up like that emitted an intense light from their positions, erasing all the surrounding shadows cleanly like flash grenades.
At the same time, the monsters that had taken root in the shadows disappeared without a trace.
“Amazing!”
The pink girl, who shouted excitedly, picked up the Blue Reaper and rubbed it vigorously against her cheek.
“Those monsters could be defeated by exposing them to light. I’ve encountered them many times before, but I never knew.”
“The weak flames made by alchemy weren’t enough to drive away the shadows.”
The pink girl said this while rummaging through her bag as if she had remembered something.
“When I checked my bag last time, there were lots of torches, but as expected, there’s not a single one now.”
“I should have kept at least one instead of throwing them all away because they were heavy.”
As she searched through her bag like that, the girl tilted her head with a slightly puzzled expression.
“Huh? But why was I carrying so many torches in the first place?”
“It’s strange, since torches aren’t even edible.”
The pink girl closed the bag’s opening and laughed awkwardly.
The Blue Reaper looked at that awkward smile with a worried expression.
The Attachment Human’s shadow, which had almost disappeared, kept flashing in the Blue Reaper’s mind.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The heavy footsteps of the Mom Golem echoed.
The area that had been full of barren fields had ended at some point, and a realm made of metal continued on.
On top of that Mom Golem, the pink girl and the Blue Reaper were having a quarrel.
“It’s really delicious, I’m telling you. Just try one bite. Even a fingernail-sized piece is fine!”
<Liar!>
The pink girl trying to feed candy.
And the Blue Reaper running away.
That game of tag, which seemed like it would never end, finally ended in the pink girl’s victory.
After all, the Blue Reaper loved its Attachment Human too much to keep refusing her requests.
The pink girl broke the candy into small pieces with a beaming expression.
“Now, say ah~“
As the Blue Reaper closed its eyes tightly and opened its mouth slightly, the pink girl pushed a piece of candy into it.
Chomp.
As soon as the Blue Reaper took the candy into its small mouth, its expression began to contract.
“How is it? Delicious, right?”
‘You tricked me!’
It was an extremely sour candy that the Blue Reaper had never even touched when all the other Mini Reapers were eating it.
The Blue Reaper looked up at the pink girl with a resentful expression, tears welling up in the corners of its eyes, before collapsing with a thud.
“Huh?”
The pink girl was startled and picked up the Blue Reaper, but no matter how much she shook it, the Blue Reaper wouldn’t regain consciousness.
Bonk. Bonk. Bonk.
Quite some time had passed since the Blue Reaper regained consciousness, but it was still hitting the pink girl’s head with a water hammer.
“I’m sorry. I said I’m sorry.”
While the pink girl apologized and the Blue Reaper kept hammering, the Mom Golem continued walking and was able to reach the end of the earth.
“We’ve arrived!”
As the pink girl’s voice sounded excited, the Blue Reaper also stopped hammering and turned its head.
Then the pink girl placed the Blue Reaper on her shoulder and walked towards the edge of the disc.
As they approached the edge of the disc, the wind blowing from below grew stronger and the smell of evolution fluid became more pungent.
When they poked their heads over the edge of the disc and looked down, the girl’s hair fluttered wildly as if she had put her face in front of a fan.
As the Blue Reaper looked down with its Attachment Human, they could see evolution fluid bubbling and continuously swallowing up matter.
The level of the evolution fluid was slowly but surely rising.
“The floor I used to live on is already submerged.”
The pink girl had a slightly melancholic expression.
The place of memories where the girl had lived with her grandfather was already gone.
The Blue Reaper, seeing that expression, patted the Attachment Human’s cheek with a worried look.
“Well, it’s okay. I’m used to constantly going up and the floors we’ve passed being submerged in evolution fluid.”
The pink girl erased her expression and turned her head to look up at the tower rising at the edge of the disc.
At the end of the disc-shaped layer, a massive tower that allowed ascent to the next disc.
Following the tower with her gaze, she could see the underside of the disc, tangled with metal and pipes.
“Now, let’s go up to the next floor. Towards the sun!”
With that, the pink girl set off towards the tower with a determined expression.
Deep within the Sehee Research Institute, in the Gray Reaper’s isolation room.
I was deeply sunken into the large isolation room bed, enjoying a nap.
Perhaps because I had been moving around a lot lately, I was savoring an even cozier and warmer feeling than usual, pleasantly asleep.
Poke poke.
Someone started to wake me up like that.
At first, they lightly hit my cheek, but after a while, they were poking my eyelids.
Judging by the intensity and frequency of the pokes, it seemed like a single Golden Reaper was trying to wake me up.
In terms of emergency alert levels, this was a one Golden Reaper situation.
It wasn’t a particularly urgent situation.
It was about as urgent as a Mini Reaper suddenly wanting to eat pudding together or wanting to play with Mom.
So I forcibly suppressed my consciousness again, calling back the sweet sleepiness.
Hehe.
‘I’m happy that even Objects can sleep.’
Thinking that, I drifted back to sleep.
After dozing off and waking up like that, the intensity of the poking had increased.
Poke poke poke poke poke poke poke.
It was hard to count how many Golden Reapers had multiplied in that short time.
In terms of emergency alert levels, this was a five or more Golden Reapers situation!
It meant either a Mini Reaper had been kidnapped or someone from the institute like Sehee, Yerin, or Seo-ah was in danger.
‘Mom, it’s a big problem!’
When I opened my eyes, the Golden Reapers gathered near my face and started exuding their will.
‘Our weak sibling has disappeared!’
‘Blue sibling is missing!’
‘We need to save them quickly!’
‘They’ll die soon!’
The news coming to me was about the disappearance of the Blue Reaper, whose limbs would break if you just tapped them.
This is really serious.
The Golden Reapers, making such a fuss, handed me a blue fragment.
On that water fragment was written <Blue Reaper Missing!>
It was like a flyer for finding a lost child.
Inside that water fragment were a full-body image of the Blue Reaper and the estimated time of disappearance.
However, all the Blue Reapers looked the same to me, so I couldn’t tell who was who.
Moreover, the estimated time of disappearance was written as when the Seven Moons looked like a Hungry Ghost with a protruding belly.
I have no idea when that is.
Anyway, I need to go to Seoul Forest quickly.
I hurriedly got up from the bed and teleported near Seoul Forest.
A tower rising so high it seemed to touch the sky.
At its top, a giant spider was endlessly building a spider web by spinning out spider silk.
Creeeeak. Creeeeak.
However, the spider silk that this spider was spewing out was pipes made of steel.
Clank. Clank.
And the spider web that this spider was creating was a tower piled up as if to reach the sky.
As the spider was building the tower like that, it suddenly stopped its construction and looked up at the sun that was shining down.
<The sun’s gaze does not reach this land.>
As the spider that had swallowed the sun spoke those words in a small voice towards the sky, the sun disappeared again.
Creeeeak. Creeeeak. Creeeeak.
Above the head of the giant spider building its spider web made of steel, a white halo was emitting light.
