Seoul Object Story -
Chapter 314: The Ash-gray Girl (6)
On the street where a soft blue light spreads, visible only at dawn.
The Ash-gray Girl was walking endlessly towards her destination, giving a gentle smile to the Yellow Reaper.
Inside the Ash-gray Girl’s heart, complex emotions were swirling.
‘Perhaps today might be the last day we talk to each other.’
Somehow, she had a sad premonition that today would be the last day with the Yellow Reaper.
Surely, they were going to return everything to ‘how it was originally’…
But as if trying to shake off such sad thoughts, the girl started bringing up cheerful and light-hearted topics.
If she were to have a serious conversation here, it would really feel like the end.
While talking about family, school, and the enjoyable times spent with the Yellow Reaper, a bittersweet emotion was evident in the girl’s will.
‘Come to think of it, I feel like I can understand the will that the Yellow Reaper expresses now.’
Was she getting closer to becoming an Object?
The thought of becoming increasingly closer to an Object also made the girl anxious.
‘It’s okay.’
As if sensing the Ash-gray Girl’s anxiety, the Yellow Reaper patted her cheek and conveyed its will.
The Yellow Reaper conveying such will had its usual wrinkled, timid expression.
But the Ash-gray Girl, who had seen the Yellow Reaper often, could tell.
That expression was the result of trying its best to look as confident as possible.
As they approached the apartment complex, the Ash-gray Girl’s heart grew heavier.
Holding tightly to the ‘doll’ that the Yellow Reaper had insisted she must never lose, the girl struggled to suppress the sadness welling up inside her.
Though it was just an ordinary doll, that gift from the Yellow Reaper was incredibly precious to the girl.
‘Never. I’ll never let go of it.’
The Ash-gray Girl still felt that this was her last moment with the Yellow Reaper.
And paradoxically, it also felt like the moment when everything would return to ‘how it was originally’.
Walking down the street tinged blue by the dawn light, the Ash-gray Girl etched her last moments with the Yellow Reaper deep in her heart.
An ancient being was dreaming a dream as old as the time he had endured.
An era when humans died, swept away by bizarre phenomena they knew nothing about.
An era when there were ‘alchemists’ who, fascinated by these strange phenomena, sought to become one with them through jade.
And finally, an era when a black giant descended from the sky and ended it all.
At that time, one man began to harbor an earnest wish.
It was the great desire of a man who had neither become an ‘alchemist’, all of whom had vanished with the flow of time, nor worshipped the black giant as a god.
‘I want to resemble the black giant, the god.’
Feeding on human wishes.
Crushing space with a mere gesture.
Freely kneading the fate of the world.
Manifesting everything desired into reality.
The man was researching ways to become such a god.
Even if the world were to be destroyed, he continued.
In the man’s eyes, he could still see it as if it were there.
The shadow of the black giant’s enormous hand reaching out towards him.
[….]
And the ancient man opened his eyes in endless darkness,
[A dream….]
He thought he had lost the ability to dream long ago….
At that moment, he sensed a Yellow Reaper and a plaster doll entering his domain.
The man could vividly feel everything happening in the apartment complex, after all.
The plaster doll was describing in detail the scene it had seen in its dream to the Yellow Reaper, heading towards the center of the apartment complex.
‘Just a little further from here, and we’ll be at the place I saw in my dream.’
Thus, the plaster doll was guiding the Yellow Reaper to the man’s side, just as he had intended.
Before long, the Yellow Reaper and the plaster doll arrived at their final destination, the central building.
‘Well then, I’m going in.’
With a feeling of intense nervousness, the plaster doll slowly began to push open the glass door of the building.
Creeeeak.
A desolate sound, as if the door hadn’t been oiled.
Inside the building where the plaster doll and Yellow Reaper had arrived, an endless expanse of brightly shining sandy beach stretched out.
‘This is it. I came here in my dream.’
The plaster doll began to walk forward, muttering as if in a trance.
Crunch, crunch.
The sound of stepping on the brightly shining sand echoed.
The white sandy beach was full of holes dug into it.
Rectangular holes, as if graves had been dug.
And in each of those holes lay a person, dried up like a mummy.
Thus, the Yellow Reaper and the plaster doll went deeper into the sandy beach, checking each hole one by one.
[This should be sufficient.]
As the man flicked his finger, countless plaster dolls began to emerge from the sandy beach.
And those dolls, crudely made by intertwining wire and plaster, all rushed at the Yellow Reaper at once.
But the plaster dolls’ attack posed no threat to the Yellow Reaper.
When the Yellow Reaper waved its hand, a multitude of Mini Reaper doll clothes burst out.
They were doll clothes that wriggled on their own, even without Mini Reapers inside.
Though not as powerful as the original Mini Reapers, they were still quite formidable doll clothes.
[As expected, this isn’t enough to capture it.]
As the man muttered this and thought to move, he was already standing on the sandy beach where the Yellow Reaper was.
Just as the Yellow Reaper finished dealing with all the plaster dolls that had suddenly rushed at it, an alien voice was heard.
[As expected, this isn’t enough to capture it.]
When the Ash-gray Girl turned her head, something white and red was looking down at her.
[With this, the final puzzle piece towards godhood has fallen into my hands.]
An ancient-looking white robe.
A red color flowing down like blood where a face should be.
Two arms stained black.
And a broken halo resting atop the head.
That grotesque appearance looked endlessly dark, despite being on a bright sandy beach.
‘A powerful Object!’
The Yellow Reaper exuded an intense will, raising an army of doll clothes.
It was an army large enough to fill the entire white sandy beach.
[….]
Seeing this, the white Object silently spread one hand slowly, and the surrounding air began to tremble minutely.
It was as if invisible energy was swirling around his hand.
And the moment he clenched his fist, a black sphere formed in mid-air.
What was initially just a small dot expanded instantly and began to devour everything around it.
It seemed as if not only the air but even light itself was being sucked into the abyss.
Space itself was twisting and warping around the black sphere.
Creak, creak.
The doll clothes floundered in the distorted space like ships caught in a storm, being sucked into the black sphere.
The doll clothes tried to escape using their individual abilities, but they couldn’t break free from the spatial distortion.
In an instant, everything vanished, leaving only empty space behind.
‘????’
Seeing this, the Yellow Reaper wore an extremely confused expression.
‘Fake!’
And the Yellow Reaper, spewing anger, summoned even more doll clothes, but…
At that moment, the white Object’s broken black halo began to pulsate as if alive, scattering intense light.
The edges of the broken halo were undulating irregularly, causing the surrounding air to ripple.
And as the fragments of the broken halo formed the shape of a complete halo, a pillar of black light shot up towards the sky.
And the black flash that started from there gradually grew in size, filling everything around.
A chill that felt like it was cutting into flesh.
Vibrations that distorted space.
A flash that seemed like it would trap the world in shadows.
And when that flash disappeared, all the doll clothes had vanished without a trace.
‘Strong… Mom Beam?’
The Yellow Reaper wore a dumbfounded expression after seeing the flash emitted from the halo.
At that moment, the white Object slowly extended its hand towards the Yellow Reaper.
Emitting an overwhelming aura just like when it had created the black sphere, the white Object began to dominate the surrounding space.
Space shook and slowly began to distort, finally swirling towards the Yellow Reaper and swallowing it whole.
And so, an endless silence descended.
Then the white Object turned its head towards the Ash-gray Girl, who was confused by the sudden situation, and said:
[Well done. Now, continue to dream the dream you wanted.]
At that moment, the Ash-gray Girl’s consciousness was cut off like a TV screen being turned off.
In the early dawn, when the Golden Reapers had not yet awakened.
I suddenly woke up from sleep for no apparent reason.
Looking around, I saw Golden Reapers softly blinking and Black Reapers sleeping while making small ‘beep’ sounds.
‘Hmm.’
It felt as if I had woken up because there was something I absolutely had to do.
What could it be?
I tried hard to think, racking my brain that I don’t usually use.
Making ‘Mini Rabbit Skewers’ while the Golden Reapers were asleep?
I want to try it, but that doesn’t seem to be it.
Looking for the golden comet I saw flying through the sky quite a long time ago?
I had forgotten about that, but that doesn’t seem to be it either.
‘Ah!’
At that moment, one thought flashed through my mind.
I should ask the Yellow Reaper to make Tyranno doll clothes for the Mini Reapers.
Waking up early this morning must have been a divine revelation to see Mini Reapers waddling around in Tyranno shapes.
And it seemed like it would be very fun to play a game of tearing apart the Triceratops White Ghouls.
Having resolved my dilemma, I got up from the bed and started waddling out.
