Seoul Object Story -
Chapter 309: The Ash-gray Girl (1)
The Ash-gray Girl with ash-gray hair was always happy.
As soon as the girl woke up in the morning, she suddenly had that thought.
That she was truly happy.
The scent of toast that made the morning warm and the gentle sunlight coming through the window.
When she opened the window and looked down, she could feel the green color of the trees lining the streets around the apartment and their distinctive woody smell.
At the end of the tree-lined path, she could see the school situated in the middle of the apartment complex.
“Come out and eat breakfast. You have to go to school!”
Hearing the voice calling her, the girl replied, “Yes, I’m coming!” and headed to the dining table.
Her parents, sister, and brother were waiting at the table.
They weren’t rich, but to the girl, they were always a happy family.
Parents, sister, and brother who always gave her love.
Hehe.
The girl laughed softly, finding it strange that she felt like laughing.
As she was pouring water into her cup from a water bottle so large it was hard to hold with one hand, suddenly the water turned red and became thick like blood.
“!!!”
Startled, the girl dropped the cup and spilled it, but what spilled was clear water.
“Are you okay?”
Her family members asked with worried expressions.
The girl rubbed her eyes as if trying to erase the strange sight she had seen, then looked down at the spilled water.
Clear and transparent water.
It was ordinary water.
‘Something’s strange.’
Perhaps because of the strange sight she had seen, her mood soured a little.
After finishing her meal, on her way to school.
The Ash-gray Girl was walking along the neatly arranged sidewalk.
‘There are no Mini Reapers today either.’
In fact, when she heard her parents were moving to Songpa District, one of the main reasons she was most excited was because of the Mini Reapers.
Songpa District, where Mini Reapers were said to roam the most!
Of course, her parents were overjoyed for slightly different reasons.
‘A newly built apartment by the Han River in Songpa District, said to be the safest area.’
It seems they were very happy that they could live in such an expensive place at an affordable price.
Unlike her parents, the girl was simply excited at the thought of being able to easily see Mini Reapers.
But even after moving to Songpa District, where Mini Reapers were said to be plentiful, it was actually very difficult to see them.
Strangely, no Mini Reapers were visible around the Ash-gray Girl.
She couldn’t see them at all, neither near the apartment nor at school.
‘I wonder why?’
She could see Mini Reapers waddling around just outside the apartment complex, but strangely, there were none within the complex itself.
At first, this fact made her a little sad, but now it was okay.
‘Because I have the Yellow Reaper!’
A hideout that no one knows about.
My own Mini Reaper friend.
Hehe, the thought of meeting it again after school today made her feel a little better.
In the sunny courtyard of the Sehee Research Institute.
I had stopped monitoring the Steel Tower and returned to the Sehee Research Institute.
That was because despite rolling around in front of the Steel Tower all day, there had been no change.
Staying in that empty, gloomy forest for so long, I became so irritated that I couldn’t stand it anymore.
It seems I used to spend quite a long time in Seoul Forest right after I was born as an Object, but now I could barely stand a single day.
Biting the Steel Tower out of frustration.
Delivering a Gray Reaper dropkick.
Trying to crumble it with a ‘Kyuu’.
I tried every method to promote its destruction, but it was all in vain.
So, leaving behind two sulky Golden Reapers chosen as ‘Steel Tower duty’, I returned to the Sehee Research Institute.
Hehe.
Though it must be the same sunlight, I rolled around basking in the sunlight that felt completely different from Seoul Forest.
As I was stretching my arms and legs to enjoy the sunlight, I started to hear the sound of the TV set up in the courtyard.
[A unique apartment has been built in Songpa District, known as the safest and most expensive area in Seoul.]
[This apartment is attracting a lot of attention as it’s being rented out at an affordable price.]
[However, there was a dark shadow in this apartment’s past.]
[There were frequent accidental deaths among officials and those involved in approving the apartment, which caused ongoing controversy.]
[These mysterious accidental deaths continued from the construction company’s president down to low-level executives, to the point where proper sales were thought to be impossible.]
[At one point, it was believed to be the work of a powerful Object, and even after investigations showed no connection, ominous rumors persisted.]
[Eventually, the apartment that was handed over to the government due to this incident shed its past image and is now being offered at affordable prices to vulnerable groups for the public good….]
It was a story about a newly built apartment.
The Mini Reapers used to poke around there occasionally, but lately there’s been no talk about that apartment.
As I was continuing my thoughts about this suspicious apartment, the Mini Reapers started to become noisy.
‘A new sibling!’
‘The youngest has arrived!’
When I turned to look, I saw the woman from the space station and the Green Reaper entering the courtyard.
Hmm.
I was wondering why there were suddenly miniature animals roaming around the Sehee Research Institute courtyard, but it seems they were animals created by the Green Reaper.
Actually, as soon as I came to the courtyard, I had focused on those fascinating mini animals.
And the moment I saw the Mini Rabbit, I came up with a ‘brilliant snack’ idea, but unfortunately, I couldn’t realize it due to the strong opposition from the Mini Reapers.
That brilliant snack was a skewer made by catching an armful of thumb-sized rabbits.
Hing.
I wanted to eat a whole rabbit skewer with 5 mini rabbits on each stick…
But the Mini Reapers looked at me with expressions as if I were a harmful Object, so I couldn’t bring myself to try it.
I wonder how it’s different from White Ghoul skewers.
The only differences are the level of pain and ability to revive, right?
Now the Green Reaper started creating thumbnail-sized elephants, hippos, and rhinos at the request of the Mini Reapers.
Perhaps because there was only one Green Reaper, it didn’t seem to feel any burden in creating animals.
‘Ah!’
At that moment, I realized the most important fact in the world.
I should ask it to make a Tyranno!
Hehe.
The combination of James’s Golden-Mecha-Tyranno Armor and the detailed Tyranno made by the Green Reaper!
Just thinking about it made my heart race.
Of course, I don’t have a heart, but still!
Deep in the Mini Reaper Garden.
In an artificially created valley between the Marshmallow Plains and the Candy Mountain Range.
In the place called ‘White Ghoul’s Scream’ by the Mini Reapers, many Red Reapers were gathered.
The blonde girl was running here and there, observing the slightly smaller Red Reaper leading the other Red Reapers.
The Red Reaper running around most cheerfully had shrunk to about a head smaller than the other Red Reapers.
‘I’m sure it wasn’t this small before….’
At first, they were similar in size, and after a while, it was just slightly smaller, but now the difference had grown even more.
The original Red Reaper always liked to say it was the oldest sister, but looking at how they played, it seemed the opposite.
It felt like the youngest, who was extremely adorable, was bossing around the older sisters, and the older sisters were laughing and going along with it.
‘Revolution!’
‘Revolution!’
When the Red Reaper shouted ‘Revolution!’, the sisters would shout along with it.
Kyuhinghing.
It was like watching older sisters joining in when the Red Reaper roasted and ate White Ghouls.
It’s probably because it’s like seeing the childhood of ‘us’.
Us in our happy times, when both parents were still alive and before grandfather became strange.
The blonde girl turned her head and smiled slightly as she brushed off the Red Reaper sisters clinging to the Black Agent.
Saying this was ‘our’ happy ending.
At that moment, the small Red Reaper floated up into the air and exuded its will.
‘Expedition!’
It was suggesting they go on an expedition to Seoul Forest, where there were many Objects, for no particular reason.
‘….’
Is this really a happy ending?
In the most splendid apartment complex among those recently completed in Songpa District.
The Ash-gray Girl was on her way to meet the Yellow Reaper, taking a slight detour on her way home from school.
Mingling with the other students, bustling about.
Then, she heard the slightly frightened voices of some children.
“It’s a Golden Reaper.”
“Somehow, it’s scary.”
When she turned her head towards the sound, she saw a Golden Reaper standing on top of a bollard that prevented vehicles from entering the sidewalk.
Staring blankly with an expressionless face.
The Golden Reaper was just looking at the passing children without any emotion.
‘It’s definitely strange.’
She had heard that Golden Reapers smile brightly at humans, but all the Golden Reapers she had seen so far had such eyes.
Transparent eyes, as if looking at a pebble on the street.
Eyes that seemed even more dangerous because they were devoid of any emotion.
The internet really can’t be trusted.
All those stories about Golden Reapers were lies.
The fortunate thing was that the girl had her ‘Yellow Reaper’.
‘Unlike the Golden Reaper, a friend of my own who smiles and plays with me.’
The Ash-gray Girl felt the corners of her mouth lifting involuntarily at the thought of seeing her friend again today.
