Seoul Object Story -
Chapter 306: Aftermath of James Space Station (1)
In an open space near James Tower in Songpa District, employees were bustling about, organizing equipment. In the center of the clearing lay a slightly blackened Golden-Mecha-Tyranno Rocket.
James looked down at the rocket and muttered with a hint of pride, “Recovering a Tyrannosaurus-shaped rocket, this must be a world first.”
There was also a touch of incredulity in James’s mutter.
Lowering his gaze to the table, he saw a Golden Reaper vigorously chewing on something spread out over a wide-open newspaper.
This Golden Reaper, which always followed James around, was trying to eat the tough dried squid that James had left out as a snack.
The Golden Reaper seemed to be having trouble tearing off the tough squid, mercilessly gnawing at it with its tiny teeth, but to little effect.
Was it because it was weak and its teeth were slightly soft?
While it was good for humans that the Golden Reaper’s bite didn’t hurt, it seemed inconvenient for eating tough food.
Hing.
The Golden Reaper, with the large squid in its mouth, looked up at James with a dejected expression.
Seeing this, James pulled on the squid in the Golden Reaper’s mouth.
Ah!
Thinking James was trying to take away its squid, the Golden Reaper clung on with all its might, dangling.
But when James grabbed the Golden Reaper’s body and pulled, the squid slipped out of its mouth.
No!
Laughing at the Golden Reaper struggling in his grasp, James said, “I’ll cut it for you, wait.”
James used small scissors to snip the squid into bite-sized pieces for the Golden Reaper.
Nom nom nom.
The Golden Reaper, looking slightly embarrassed, sat near the squid and began to chew it slowly.
I wonder how long it will take the Golden Reaper to eat that piece of squid?
James watched the Golden Reaper earnestly chewing the squid as he turned the page of the newspaper on the table.
The turned page showed a photo of dozens of Red Reapers flying around, burning slime.
The headline read: <Angels of Communism. Red Reapers Prevent Global Threat!>
In fact, until now, the exploits of the Gray Reaper and Mini Reapers often took place on the Object frontlines, so it was easy for ordinary people to have only a vague impression like ‘The Gray Reaper destroyed some Object.’
But this time, the ‘Dark Green Slime Incident’ was different.
It was a direct threat experienced firsthand by most people around the world.
After all, there were hardly any people living in places without animals like cats or pigeons, including insects and plants.
There were many eyewitness accounts, such as house tables suddenly sinking and dark green slime oozing out from underneath.
Just when an Object was right in front of them and there was no clear way to deal with it, the Red Reapers appeared.
Perhaps because of this, the popularity of the Red Reapers, along with the Gray Reapers and Mini Reapers, was skyrocketing.
Red Reaper fan sites were springing up like mushrooms, and numerous deeds ‘presumed’ to have been done by the Gray Reaper and Mini Reapers were being rediscovered.
In James’s opinion, an extremely positive atmosphere was forming.
After all, as time passed, humans would inevitably have to live under the protection of the Gray Reaper and Mini Reapers.
Moreover, seeing the Red Reapers carrying sickles and hammers, opinions began to emerge that the Reapers might be able to understand human culture.
Objects that understand humans and protect them!
This perception was gradually spreading.
There was just one problem.
Rumors were circulating that the system the Mini Reapers wanted was communism, but how should this be resolved?
No matter how much James racked his brain, he couldn’t come up with a clear solution.
Deep in the Mini Reaper Garden, beyond the Brown Sugar Desert.
I had arrived in an area no Mini Reaper had ever reached and was looking around.
After destroying the Green Moon, this was a new area that had appeared in the Mini Reaper Garden.
It was a jungle made of colorful jellies.
Tree-shaped jellies.
Rock-shaped jellies.
River-shaped jellies.
Vine-shaped jellies.
With various shapes and colors, it was an enjoyable place to wander around.
It also felt like a jungle decorated with giant plastic block toys.
While the shapes were toy-like, the characteristics of jelly were preserved.
Nom nom nom.
I lay on a rock where sunlight fell well, looking up at the sky and eating jelly.
Without Yerin to feed me snacks or Mini Reapers offering tributes to eat with Mom, I was using shadows to tear off and eat the jelly.
I was using the tentacle summoning ability I had gained before and the shadow shaping ability I had obtained after destroying the Purple Moon.
I couldn’t give physical force to shadows like the Purple Reaper, so it had been a useless ability, but when combined with tentacles, I found a way to utilize it somewhat.
Using the shadow shaping ability to stretch the shadow long!
And then summoning tentacles from that shadow!
It was a great discovery that allowed me to easily retrieve jelly beyond the reach of tentacles.
As I was eating jelly and lounging on the soft rock like that, I suddenly thought of the Green Moon.
Now that I’ve caught the Green Moon, I’ll soon get Mini Reapers and abilities, I wonder how they’ll turn out?
Since Mini Reapers usually appear with a connection to the Vassals of the Moon, would it be Green Reapers with numbers in the trillions, like bacteria?
The ability I’d gain would likely be related to controlling nature, but I couldn’t predict exactly how it would manifest.
When the Green Reapers appear, the Mini Reapers will probably be in a festive mood again.
I could almost see the Golden Reapers exuding their will, saying ‘A new youngest sibling!’
As I was lost in these thoughts, something suddenly popped out of the shadows of the jungle with a ‘poof’.
!!!
It was a tiny Object of a form I had never seen before, but this child had a small ember in its heart.
Ah, so that’s a Green Reaper.
It looked quite different from other Mini Reapers, almost as much as the Orange Reaper.
Fortunately, it still had the body of a Mini Reaper.
It had something like cat ears and was floating gently through the air.
Following the Blue Reaper, Red Reaper, and Orange Reaper, it was the appearance of another Mini Reaper that could fly.
“Ming?”
The Green Reaper, looking around in confusion, saw me and let out a small cry, then started circling around me as if happy to see me.
“Ming!”
And after letting out a loud cry, it started flying away urgently as if it had some pressing matter.
?
At a large hospital near the Sehee Research Institute.
The sole survivor of James Space Station had arrived in Korea through the Mini Reaper Garden.
There were no major injuries, but she was hospitalized due to mental shock and inability to regain her strength.
No, Mingming. Don’t go.
The woman was trapped in an endless nightmare.
It was a nightmare that repeated Mingming’s last moments, turning into a ball of light and disappearing.
“Miing.”
Wounds that had dried up, with no more blood to flow.
Dimly shining golden eyes.
The crying sound of ‘Miing,’ smiling as if to say not to worry for the last time.
It would have been nice if I could see other moments.
Though their time together was short, there were so many memories between Mingming and the woman.
But this nightmare was all the woman could see in her dreams.
And as Mingming turned into a ball of light and disappeared, the woman woke up.
In the dark hospital room, the woman looked around with blurry eyes from sleeping too long, then closed her eyes and lay down again.
If she fell asleep again, she would be able to see Mingming.
As the woman fell back asleep, a small green Object peeked out from a corner of the hospital room.
“Ming…”
It was Mingming, returned from death.
But Mingming couldn’t approach the woman readily.
Because its appearance had changed so much.
Mingming had become a Green Reaper due to the influence of the Gray Reaper.
The Green Reaper, confirming that the woman was asleep, flew back into her arms.
“Miing.”
And feeling the warmth of its beloved human, it closed its eyes with a peaceful expression.
In the middle of Seoul Forest, which rejected civilization, stood a massive Object.
The special-grade Object, Steel Tower.
On a night endlessly quiet and dark without man-made light, the clouds slowly parted and moonlight began to pour down.
As seven-colored moonlight illuminated the top of the Steel Tower that soared to seemingly pierce the sky, there was a feeling as if something that had been sleeping for ages was awakening.
Crack.
Cracks began to form on the Steel Tower, which no human weapon had ever been able to scratch.
Eerie black light began to seep through the cracks in the splitting Steel Tower.
Paradoxically, it was a light even darker than the darkness enveloping Seoul Forest.
The crumbling surface of the Steel Tower was like a demon shedding its skin.
Slowly, very slowly, the interior of the Steel Tower revealed itself to be completely empty.
Though its surface slowly began to crumble, the Steel Tower still stood firm without collapsing.
