Chapter 280: Free City Alliance: Epilogue (2)

I lay in the mini Reaper garden, submerged in despair.

Why isn’t it working?!

As if to show the magnitude of my despair, white Hungry Ghosts were piled up beside me like a mountain.

“Kyuhinghing.”

From that pile of white Hungry Ghosts, the mournful cries of white Hungry Ghosts, whose limbs had all been devoured, leaked out.

And next to that pile of white Hungry Ghosts was also a pile of Mecha Tyrannosauruses.

However, the Tyrannos piled in that Mecha Tyranno heap all had some flaws.

With my memory and imagination, I couldn’t perfectly recall the Mecha-Tyranno.

Even if I could summon the soul of the dead Tyranno with the blue giant, it was meaningless if I couldn’t perfectly create its body.

Putting the Halo back on my head, I created another Mecha Tyranno.

Though I made it with intense concentration, what emerged was a Mecha Tyranno lacking some detail.

This isn’t it!

The Mecha Tyranno I created had the quality of a very cheap, illegally made counterfeit figure.

Should I really outsource the Tyranno design to James?

I wanted to create a purely self-made Super Mecha Tyranno…

Sniff sniff.

As I lay there sadly, mini Reapers began to approach cautiously.

Mother, are you okay?

Children patting my cheek as I lay fallen.

When there was still no response, the Golden Reapers took out the star candies they had hidden one by one and pushed them into my mouth.

The Black Reapers huddled together, then slowly began to form a giant shape.

Peeeeep!

As the Black Reapers gathered, a giant Mecha Tyranno, chirping like a sparrow, revealed itself.

Oh.

Its appearance was so intricate that I stealthily opened my eyes and began to observe.

<!>

When I opened my eyes, the Blue Reapers gathered in a corner, whispered amongst themselves, then began to embroider character strings in the air.

<Star-Shining Fusion Tyranno!>

<Fusion Tyranno!>

Then water appeared from thin air and slowly began to take the form of a giant Tyrannosaurus.

Roar!

As the Tyranno golem roared silently, water armor materialized from thin air and flew towards it.

Slap! Slap!

And the armor interlocked like intricate parts, completing a Mecha Tyranno golem that emitted light like a glow-in-the-dark dinosaur.

Ooh!

Cheered on by the mini Reapers, I regained my energy and stood up.

And I hugged the mini Reapers who cheered for me, conveying my sincere gratitude through my will.

Then, the mini Reapers grinning in my arms.

Hugging those children, I chuckled and gave them a mission.

A mission to stick a Mecha Tyranno request with adhesive to James’s back every hour.

Hehe.

***

The Golden Reaper observed Mother with eyes full of curiosity.

Om nom nom.

Mother was in her attached human’s embrace, endlessly eating pudding while watching something.

[The Chinese government today designated the area affected by the Object erosion in the Free City Alliance as a higher-risk zone and decided to strengthen existing blockade measures.]

[It is reported that unpredictable events are occurring in the Free City Alliance, such as concrete buildings turning into marshmallows and Objects scattering as star candies.]

[In addition, eyewitness accounts continue to emerge of golden Reapers starting to roam the city.]

[A Chinese government official stated, “We view the appearance of ‘Golden Reapers’ as more threatening than the erosion of reality, and we will maintain the blockade even more thoroughly for the safety of our citizens.”]

Incomprehensible words continuously flowed from the emotionless square box.

But the Golden Reaper’s interest was not in such things, but in Mother.

Mother gained weight.

The Golden Reaper watched curiously as Mother gradually became rounder.

Is it because of Mother’s attached human?

The Golden Reaper, which had been secretly spying, began to stealthily follow Yerin as she left the containment room.

***

Yerin slowly walked towards the bus stop, her gaze slightly directed backward.

Then, a small golden figure, startled, quickly ducked into an alley.

It was so agile that she couldn’t see it properly, but golden antennae still protruded from the end of the alley, waving gently.

What on earth could it be?

Yerin thought with a warm smile at the cute situation of being followed by a Golden Reaper.

Screech.

And sitting down on the Sehee Research Institute shuttle bus that had arrived, she closed her eyes as if falling asleep.

Then the Golden Reaper stealthily approached and began to burrow into Yerin’s bag.

And the Golden Reaper zipped up the zipper to hide completely.

But its antennae stuck out above the zipper, still waving gently.

Yerin pretended not to notice, stroking the antennae, and looked at the scenery on the way home.

What should I play with the Golden Reaper today? A puzzle?

Her mind, as always, was full of happy thoughts.

***

The Free City Alliance, or now, the place called ‘Mini Reaper Special City’.

Qing sat by the window of the hideout set up in a corner of that city, looking out at the street.

The street, once filled with a dirty and gloomy atmosphere, now exuded a white, fluffy feeling like a drawing paper.

Fluffy marshmallows laid instead of concrete floors.

Old, flickering neon signs had turned into delicious-looking candy canes.

Dirty rats were nowhere to be seen; instead, Golden Reapers wearing jelly helmets patrolled every nook and cranny of the alleys.

People who had lost consciousness and sprawled on the streets from eating too much poisoned food were completely gone.

In their place were people with Golden Reapers perched on their shoulders, happy smiles on their faces.

When Qing opened the window, clean air rushed into the room.

Qing straightened her chest, took a deep breath, and exhaled again.

“Haaaah.”

Except for a slight smell of sugar, truly refreshing air.

To think the air of a city where just breathing endangered one’s life could change like this.

Having lived in this city for a really, really long time, Qing had never dreamed such a day would come.

It must all be thanks to this child.

Qing poked the Orange Reaper sleeping with closed eyes in her pocket.

Qing smiled down at the Orange Reaper, which showed no sign of waking from its deep sleep, then jumped from the 5th-floor window.

The fluffy marshmallow bounced like a trampoline, gently catching Qing.

It felt like an incredibly large amusement park ride, making a smile naturally spread across her face.

Truly magic!

But it was a game that required careful observation of the surroundings.

If caught by a Golden Reaper while jumping from a building, one would be spanked for an hour.

Qing enjoyed the soft touch of the marshmallow and walked out onto the main street.

The central road that connected city to city like the veins of the Free City Alliance.

That place too had completely changed.

Cars recklessly ignoring traffic signals, noisy honking, and suffocating exhaust fumes had left no trace.

If not for the fact that cola-flavored jelly was laid out in the shape of asphalt, one wouldn’t have noticed this was the ‘Central Road’, it had changed so much.

On that jelly road, white Hungry Ghosts had taken the place of cars.

Hungry Ghosts the size of cars, hollowed out to make seats.

The Hungry Ghosts on the road had truly diverse appearances.

People had already started decorating their Hungry Ghosts, attaching all sorts of accessories and painting them in various colors.

Instead of honking, cute ‘Kyu’ sounds echoed.

Instead of exhaust fumes, the sweet scent of marshmallows filled the air.

Qing smiled softly at the sight and headed towards the meeting place.

The barbecue restaurant she always went to after finishing a mission.

Opening the door of that familiar shop, a slightly different scene greeted her.

“Ah, you’re finally here.”

PIG unnie, with a large rib in her mouth, waved at Qing.

In the kitchen, Blue Reapers were gathered, casting magic on jelly.

<Become barbecue flavored!>

<Become meat textured!>

Casting magic on meat-shaped jelly that looked like it came out of a cartoon, delicious barbecue was being created.

Except for the fact that its color was slightly transparent like jelly, it was excellent barbecue.

As Qing slowly walked and sat at the table, her companions greeted her.

“Come on, Qing, try some. It’s a new menu item. And like other menus, it’s free.”

Her companions looked no different from usual at first glance, but there was a slight change.

The material of their Object-made body replacements had changed.

Into roll cake.

She didn’t know why roll cake, but it was roll cake.

Of course, it was impossible to tell until it was cut, and there was no difference in function.

Though it had stabilized now after quite some time, there had been a bit of an uproar at first.

Actually, it would be strange not to cause an uproar if part of one’s body suddenly turned into roll cake.

And many people died due to the roll cake incident.

People who were engrossed in the ‘red voice’ like Scavengers, or those who had replaced parts of their brains with Objects, all died.

Not roll cake humans, but just became roll cake.

Fortunately, Qing’s companions weren’t that dependent on Objects.

Well, many people died.

Still, she thought this city was the closest place to heaven.

Delicious food, cute mini Reapers, and people who had become gentle, influenced by the mini Reapers.

As Qing was thinking about various things, the clear sound of a bell rang from her shoulder.

Tiring.

The Orange Reaper, which had somehow climbed onto her shoulder, was holding a bell as large as its own body.

As Qing was patting the Orange Reaper’s head, the woman, who had taken out a cigarette-flavored candy cane instead of a cigarette, spoke.

“Qing, are you really going?”

“Yeah.”

Qing had achieved her goal.

She had retrieved her parents’ keepsake, the Object bell, so all that remained was to leave.

“Then, are you going back to your hometown?”

“I’ll have to go someday. But not right now.”

Qing looked at the Orange Reaper and continued speaking.

“First, I’m thinking of traveling a bit. Living in the ‘Free City Alliance’, I feel like I’ve been rushing forward too much.”

“Really? Then, where are you going?”

Qing smiled happily and said.

“Korea.”
