Chapter 251: Broken Moon: Epilogue (3)
The boss room, which was initially very bright with many burning torches when they first entered, now had all its torches extinguished.
Only one torch remained.
In that dark place, the Golden Reaper’s party was engaged in an intense battle.
The shield the Golden Reaper had been holding was already broken.
Moreover, the green bar floating above the Golden Reaper’s head, indicating its remaining health, was only half full.
The Red Reaper sat in a corner with a broken spear, looking glum as it watched the other mini Reapers fight.
The green bar above the sulky Red Reaper’s head was completely empty.
The Blue Reaper, with almost no health left, had been chanting a spell for a very long time, as if trying to use some grand magic.
Not much left!
The Golden Reaper expressed its will, gripping its short sword.
The dungeon’s final boss was structured so that a torch would go out each time it was hit.
However, as the torches decreased, the darkness in the boss room deepened, creating a gimmick where the shadow-wielding boss grew stronger.
Looking down at the Golden Reaper steeling its resolve, the Purple Reaper wore a contemptuous expression.
It leapt into the air and rapidly fired numerous shadow spears.
The target was the Blue Reaper preparing its spell!
The Golden Reaper began deflecting all the shadow spears with just its small short sword in a flashy display.
But it seemed too much to handle with just a small sword and no shield, as a large spear struck the Golden Reaper’s body.
Kuang.
With its health depleted, the Golden Reaper, following the mini Reaper labyrinth rules, projected its will with a “Kuang!” as it spun in place and collapsed.
The Golden Reaper fell face-first onto the floor, looking up at the Blue Reaper with expectant eyes.
At that moment, the Blue Reaper raised its staff high.
But nothing happened.
Seeing that the spell seemed to have failed, the Purple Reaper wore a triumphant expression as it charged towards the Blue Reaper.
It created a sword from shadows and swung it at the Blue Reaper.
Kuang!
The Blue Reaper, cut by the shadow sword, screamed the death cry as per the rules, but wore a meaningful smile.
Behind the fallen Blue Reaper, a string of characters made of water was inscribed.
<Resurrection.>
The spell had already been completed.
Surprised by these characters, the Purple Reaper turned around.
There stood the Red Reaper, resurrected with a small amount of health recovered.
The Red Reaper, its broken spear extended forward, its entire body covered in flames.
Take this!
The spearman’s ultimate skill, charging at high speed.
And that ultimate skill pierced the Purple Reaper’s heart.
!!!
All the shadows spread throughout the boss room began to ripple and pour into the Purple Reaper.
The gathered shadows suddenly burst with a “poof” and scattered brilliantly.
Simultaneously, all the shadows that had engulfed the boss room disappeared, and the extinguished torches returned to normal.
It was a flashy death until the very end.
The Red Reaper raised its spear high and cheered in victory.
The Golden Reaper and Blue Reaper, revived now that the battle was over, rushed over to join in the cheering.
Hop! Hop!
They jumped as if truly happy, bumping into each other and rolling around to express their joy.
Then, the door at the end of the boss room slowly opened, revealing a room with a treasure chest.
It was a room with a truly delicious aroma.
Thump thump.
The Golden Reaper’s party, holding hands tightly, began walking towards the treasure room, swinging their arms excitedly.
We won!
Everyone did good!!!
Undisguisable smiles adorned the faces of the Golden Reaper’s party.
I was lying in the deepest part of the dungeon, where I could observe everything, watching the children play.
I thought the mini Reapers would quickly tire of the labyrinth game, but it was running more successfully than expected.
Near the labyrinth, many mini Reapers gathered, holding mini Hungry Ghosts with numbers engraved on their backs.
These numbered white Hungry Ghosts cried “Kyuhinghing” when their turn came.
At the entrance of the labyrinth, butler Hungry Ghosts were distributing all kinds of doll outfit made by the Yellow Reapers.
A Golden Reaper doll outfit equipped with sword and shield.
A Red Reaper doll outfit holding a spear.
A Blue Reaper doll outfit holding a staff.
An Orange Reaper doll outfit holding a bow.
And a Black Reaper doll outfit holding a greatsword.
All sorts of equipment and colors of doll outfit were lined up.
This was because only Blue Reapers or Purple Reapers could use magic, but their numbers were too few.
If they had been allowed to enter as is, there would have been parties consisting only of Golden Reapers.
Moreover, the doll outfit had the effect of limiting abilities to account for differences in physical capabilities.
Turning my gaze, I saw Purple Reapers earnestly bickering with each other in the boss waiting room.
These Purple Reapers created monsters from shadows and even played the role of bosses.
They bickered to create monsters, bickered to enter the boss room.
Given their role, they were extremely busy, but they looked happier than expected.
Was it because they can act important while playing the boss role?
If it were me, I would have made Hungry Ghost do it, but they insistently took on the troublesome monster roles themselves.
Shifting my gaze, I saw Golden Reapers happily eating candy in the treasure chest room.
And in the corner were the doll outfit discarded by the Golden Reapers.
These children were hugging giant star candies several times the size of their bodies, eating them with great relish.
It was like friends discussing a movie over a meal after watching it together.
They were happily sharing their thoughts about who was amazing when defeating which monster, who was great in other scenes.
In fact, the giant star candies, the dungeon reward, weren’t specially made.
But perhaps because they adventured together and ate it as a clear reward, their expressions while eating suggested it was the most delicious thing in the world.
Seeing such happy mini Reapers made me suddenly want to enter the labyrinth too.
I wish someone would make a Tyranno labyrinth for me…
Sehee Research Institute, Conference Room 3.
The rarely used Conference Room 3 was now occupied by Seo-ah and another person.
It was an interview being conducted to reduce Seo-ah’s workload.
Originally, it was fine when the elite researcher Oh Ye-rin was around, who despite often slacking off, still worked three times as much as other employees.
But now that Oh Ye-rin had become useless except for her role as the Gray Reaper’s caretaker, this was an unavoidable choice.
Seo-ah was slowly flipping through the resume, examining the helmeted researcher before her.
Surprisingly, the researcher was wearing a mental pollution blocking helmet with a huge James Company logo stamped on it for the interview.
More unusual than expected.
She had heard that he often wore the helmet at the Object Association too, and he seemed to be someone truly thorough about mental pollution.
Normally, he would have been seen as an eccentric who would never be hired, but in the current situation, it was viewed positively.
Perhaps due to continuous exposure to the mild mental pollution emitted by the Golden Reapers, there were hardly any people left at Sehee Research Institute who could properly manage the mini Reapers.
Amazing. Truly thorough.
This was the thought that came to mind.
With excellent specs and reportedly very good work handling at the Object Association, there was no reason not to hire him.
Normally, she would have notified him by email, but in her excitement, Seo-ah directly informed him of his acceptance.
“We sincerely welcome you to our company. I believe your values align well with our company’s vision. I think we can achieve great results together.”
After Seo-ah announced his acceptance in a businesslike tone, she shook hands with the researcher.
“Am I accepted?”
“Of course you’re accepted. I’ll send you the details by email. Please check it later.”
As Seo-ah spoke with a slight smile, the helmeted researcher bowed in response.
Then he left the interview room, seeming a bit flustered.
After the interviewee left, Seo-ah spoke to the Bud Reaper with a relieved expression.
“He seems good, right? Seeing how thorough he is about mental pollution, he might be comparable to Senior Researcher Kim Jung-roe.”
But the Bud Reaper sitting on Seo-ah’s shoulder just giggled.
?
Seo-ah was puzzled by the Bud Reaper’s hard-to-understand reaction, but she brushed it off.
The helmeted researcher, having returned his visitor’s badge at Sehee Research Institute’s main gate, began walking towards the parking lot with a light step.
“I finally got accepted into Sehee Research Institute, which is said to be so hard to enter!”
As the helmeted researcher spoke with great joy, the Golden Reaper inside the helmet patted the researcher’s cheek, sharing in the happiness.
The helmeted researcher took the Golden Reaper out of the helmet, placed it on his hand, and said:
“Now the other mini Reapers can play with their friends, right?”
But the Golden Reaper shook its head as if it wasn’t really necessary.
“Wouldn’t it be nice to have other Golden Reapers too?”
When the helmeted researcher spoke with a slightly worried expression, the Golden Reaper nodded slightly in agreement.
“Right?”
The helmeted researcher smiled happily, thinking about the rumors that people at Sehee Research Institute only play with mini Reapers.
Thump thump.
While all the mini Reapers were absorbed in the labyrinth I created, I was wandering around the newly formed terrain.
Perhaps it was created after defeating the purple moon?
It was an endless snowfield that had appeared beyond the mini Reaper garden and the Candy Mountains.
Oh.
I exclaimed in admiration as I looked down at the snowfield from atop the mountain range.
A snowfield with heavy snow falling despite not a single cloud in sight.
Trees bearing all kinds of fruits and rice cakes forming a colony on one side of the snowfield.
And at the end, ice formed from packed snow flowed like glaciers, flowing into a sea of hot chocolate.
I brought some snow falling onto my palm to my mouth and tasted it.
Munch munch.
A sweet taste spread throughout my mouth.
Delicious.
It tasted like milk with added sweetness, then frozen.
Moreover, this snowfield, reminiscent of milk shaved ice, even had trees bearing toppings to put on the shaved ice.
Perfect.
I lay down on the ground and began to enjoy the snowfield, eating snow and picking fruits.
As I kept stuffing snow into my stomach until it was full, I noticed an Object that looked like a white mouse scurrying around in the corner of my vision.
It was a hamster, white and fluffy and cute, with all kinds of fruits skewered on its tail.
When I caught it using time acceleration, I found that all the fruits stuck on its tail were coated in sugar.
Hmm. It feels like an Object that absolutely must not be forgotten.
Snowfield.
Skewer.
It was a combination that seemed like it should remind me of something.
I was lost in thought, firmly holding the hamster.
