Seoul Object Story -
Chapter 107: The Cruise ship (8)
What appeared in front of Agent Black as he emerged from the cave, holding the blonde girl in his arms, was not the blue woman.
Under the large full moon, massive columns of water soared into the sky.
When he looked up, he saw a Hydra rising, making the water swirl and displaying its enormous majesty.
Even though it remained stationary, the pressure Agent Black felt was immense, as if he were being crushed to death.
The towering water column exuded an overwhelming sense of power just by its sheer size.
“Just what…”
Agent Black’s muttered words were drowned out by the violent spinning and splashing water.
The Hydra, looming high against the starry sky and arching to touch the clouds, stared in one direction with its mouth wide open.
Moments later, a stream of water shot from the Hydra’s mouth, reaching the ground in an instant like a beam of light.
The water stream, cutting across the ground, had the power and sharpness to slice through hard rocks that felt like paper.
The whirlpools around the Hydra pulled everything in their vicinity, creating chaos and sending water droplets and debris flying into the air.
To Agent Black, the Hydra’s appearance signaled the impending destruction of Seoul.
A disaster on a scale comparable scale to the Steel Tower had come to greet Seoul.
The lake water swirled and rose high into the sky, creating a massive column that cast a shadow over everything around it.
It was such a spectacular sight that even the Golden Reaper, the Blue Reaper, and I stopped what we were doing and looked up in awe.
The size and intensity of the water column filled me with anticipation. Could this be the moment I finally discover what the ‘Blue Witch’s Mirror’ is?
But what popped out wasn’t a witch or a mirror. It was a serpent with nine heads, a monster made entirely of water, resembling a Hydra.
As soon as the Hydra burst forth from the lake, it shot a stream of water right at me and the mini-reapers. The force behind it was enormous, and the speed at which the water rushed could easily slice through rocks.
If that water cannon hit the Blue Reapers, they’d be turned into a Blue/Reaper! So, I quickly whisked them back to the garden.
Whirlpools spun up around the Hydra, pulverizing stones and launching the debris into the air.
Nine columns of water poured from its mouths, cutting and crushing everything in their path.
It was quite the chaotic scene, with water and rocks bouncing around, and bits and pieces flying everywhere. But despite the Hydra’s daunting appearance and attack, weren’t fazed at all.
The Golden Reapers just rode the whirlpools like a merry-go-round, laughing and playing as they dodged streams of water and flying rocks. They flew around, giggling even when they got hit, and enjoyed some skydiving after being bounced by the water pressure.
In other words, the Golden Reaper Water Park was completed.
Like the Golden Reaper, I too was being swept around, but I was also keeping an eye on everything.
The trick to defeating the Hydra was simple: < Destroy all nine hearts simultaneously >.
Straightforward enough, right?
The only problem was, that I had no idea where the Hydra’s hearts were.
Even though its body was made of transparent water and I could see everything inside, the hearts were nowhere to be found.
As soon as the tattooed woman discovered the hydra, she returned to her lodging and woke her little sister up.
“Sis? Why are you acting like this all of a sudden?” her sister asked, confused.
The tattooed woman, carrying only a bag containing the crystals, spoke hurriedly, “Wake up quickly. We need to evacuate now.”
The vibrations from the ground were growing stronger with every passing moment.
As she exited the lodging, she witnessed the Hydra shooting a stream of water toward somewhere some distant target, followed by a booming, crushing sound that pierced the mountain.
With its target disposed of, the Hydra would soon annihilate the area around the lake.
They had to flee quickly…
She grabbed her sister’s hand and ran toward the highest and farthest place they could reach.
“Sis, sis! Look! There, look! A monster made of water!”
The younger sister pointed at the lake, sounding somewhat excited.
Under the influence of the blue moon, the girl had no idea how dire the situation was. The tattooed woman simply pulled her sister’s hand harder, urging her to move faster.
Despite their haste, a nagging thought persisted.
Why did the lake serpent appear so early?
The Lake Serpent was an entity that only emerged if the lake was truly in crisis.
That traitor’s attempt at contaminating it shouldn’t have progressed this quickly. Who on earth is actually behind summoning the serpent?
Upon finding a hill that seemed reasonably safe, she climbed it and finally discovered the culprit.
It was an Object so small that someone with normal eyesight would have difficulty seeing it. Compared to the Hydra, the Object appeared as small and helpless as a puppy.
However, in stark contrast to its appearance, it was Korea’s most (in)famous Object: the Gray Reaper.
Unfortunately, even this dangerous Object was helpless against the Hydra, being tossed around like newspapers in a typhoon.
She expected it to be torn apart in seconds, but the Gray Reaper was holding up better than she anticipated.
Yet, it wouldn’t win by just hanging on.
Her hope that someone might be able to defeat Hydra faded quickly. Seemed like she had to run even farther.
She had no choice but to run as far as she could and wait until the crystal was fully developed.
“Sis! Look at that! So bright! So shiny! Is that gold?” her younger sister, still under the influence of the blue moon, said, smiling.
As she turned to grab the crystal and call her sister, a golden gleam caught her eye.
It was the gleam of the Golden Reapers, much tinier than the Gray Reaper. It was the golden color she remembered seeing before.
Ah! It’s the golden wave that swept through the theme park! To think it the culprit behind the destruction of the theme park was the Gray Repear of all Objects…
The woman was dumbfounded by the incomprehensible situation unfolding after that, and she could only watch.
Each time the hydra was swept away by the golden wave, its size decreased, as if its mass was being taken away.
Yet, the golden wave remained unchanged; only the Hydra kept shrinking.
Continuously,
And continuously…
Even though the Hydra spewed water at the golden waves, struck them, and tried to flee, it was of no use.
[ Kieeeeeek ]
With a terrible death scream that echoed throughout Seoul, the Hydra vanished.
“Unbelievable,” the woman muttered, dropping the crystal in her hand.
“Sis?!! Y-you dropped it… The crystal! You dropped it!!! Didn’t you say it was very important?”
Sigh… Well, not anymore…
Since I couldn’t see the hearts, I had only one option left…
If I vaporize the whole body, won’t the hearts also disappear?
The plan was simple: gather as many Golden Reapers as possible and destroy the Hydra!
And guess what? The plan worked like a charm!
Maybe it was because the Hydra didn’t have physical immunity, but the fight ended up being a lot less exciting than I imagined.
Now that the Hydra was gone, the lake returned to its calm, serene state.
Even though all the water the Hydra had drawn up vanished, the lake’s water level remained unchanged, just like before.
It was clear as day now—Lake Yangcheon-gu was definitely an Object.
All of a sudden, I sensed a presence near the cave entrance. It was faint, like someone barely hanging on.
When I looked, I saw a man in a black suit, one I vaguely remembered, trudging forward with a girl in his arms.
Hmm, all the Golden Reapers look sad… Is someone seriously hurt?
The man in the black suit walked slowly out of the cave before collapsing to the ground. Several large rocks were embedded in his back, probably from the debris flung by the Hydra.
Meanwhile, the Golden Reapers fidgeted anxiously.
Hmm, the situation is dire… Hehe! This calls for the might of our youngest!
As soon as I released the Blue Reaper into the air, it spotted the man in the black suit and began treating him.
< Stone, get away from him… Please. >
< Wounds get healed… Please. >
< Recover your strength quickly… Please. >
The characters written by the Blue Reaper turned into light and slithered toward the man.
The moment it came into contact with him, the stones fell out on their own, and his wounds slowly began to heal.
Sigh… It’s too late for the blonde girl… There’s no hope, even magic can’t save someone who’s already dead…
I recognized the blonde girl from the research institute in China. It was heartbreaking to think she died like this…
As I kept looking at the girl with regret, I felt a tugging sensation out of nowhere. For some weird reason, I felt like I could save her.
Without even realizing what I was doing, I took out the burning heart I had thrown into the garden.
Thump-! Thump-!
I placed the small, vibrating heart on top of the girl. The red heart slowly sank into her body as if returning to its original place.
Hmm, seems like using the heart to save her was the right move.
Cough-!
Soon enough, the girl started coughing up blood and began to breathe again. It was such a relief to see her alive once more.
Satisfied that the girl was breathing again, I turned and walked deeper into the cave.
Since this was where the Boss? That huge old woman came from, there had to be something interesting inside, right?
Maybe, just maybe, I would finally find that Blue Witch’s Mirror…
In the middle of the cave, I stumbled upon a magical pool of water that glowed with a soft, enchanting light.
The water was so calm, it perfectly reflected the entire night sky visible through the ceiling.
I couldn’t help but gasp in delight.
So this is the‘Blue Witch’s Mirror,’huh? Yay!
The pool was perfectly circular, with beautiful engravings that made it look just like a mirror.
But then I hit a snag…
Umm, how on earth am I supposed to destroy it? Should I just jump in and splash around?
I tried to brainstorm a few ideas, but nothing seemed right. It felt like I was stuck in an escape room with no hints whatsoever. So frustrating!!!
With a sigh, I plopped down into the puddle, dipping my feet into the cool water and splashing around.
But no matter how much I splashed around, the water stayed perfectly still… So much for destroying it by making a mess.
Next, I decided to call in the Golden Reapers. One by one, I tossed them into the puddle.
One, two, three… Soon, the pool was packed with Golden Reapers, like a crowded bus.
I thought maybe if I filled it up enough, it wouldn’t be a mirror anymore. But nope, no change whatsoever… Another failure.
Undeterred, I called on our youngest, the Blue Reapers, and asked them to heat the water.
At first, they hesitated, worried about hurting the Golden Reapers. But after I reassured them it would be okay, they got to work.
< Heat up! Please… >
< Boil! Boil until every single drop of you evaporates!! Please… >
With a wave of their magic, the water puddle exploded, sending steam gushing up to the ceiling. The Golden Reapers had a blast, waving their hands in the steam.
I couldn’t help but giggle at the sight. It was like we had our very own Bathhouse of the Golden Reapers!
Still, I didn’t feel like I had destroyed the mirror. Yet another failure…
At this point, I began to doubt if this puddle was even the Blue Witch’s Mirror at all.
My mind started to wander, and I decided to try one last thing. I eroded reality with my garden, spreading my hands wide and grabbing the space where the water puddle was.
Clap-!
I clapped my hands, crushing the space itself and erasing it.
At that moment, I felt a huge amount of my firewood disappear in one big clump.
Just when I thought I might have messed up, a change occurred in the hole above the ceiling.
A cute, blue mini-moon appeared, casting its gentle glow.
Ah! As expected, yup yup, as long as someone is strong, they don’t have to be smart!
Wait… no! Don’t get me wrong okay…? It’s not that I am not smart, it’s just that I am so strong that I don’t need to use my head!!
Hihihihi!
