"... What are you talking about?" Feng Jietang asked, rather scandalized that Lang Yuxuan made such a ridiculous proposal.

Lang Yuxuan shot him a knowing smile.

"Let’s not beat around the bush, Senior Feng. I know that you have feelings for Senior Shen. Also, there is no need to lie to me and say that you only see him as a friend. If you and Senior Shen can successfully become a couple at the end of the TV show, wouldn’t that be great?"

Feng Jietang scoffed.

"I thought that you see yourself and Yan Renzhong forming a loving couple at the end of the show."

"Well, two couples are better than one, for sure," Lang Yuxuan smoothly said. "Anyway, our goals happen to align with each other. We should work together."

Feng Jietang bit into his lower lip.

At this point, he did not know what he was. Heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. But he knew that deep in his heart, he wanted Shen Jingwei to be more than just his friend.

And he wanted Shen Jingwei to like him. Love him, if possible.

"Just to be clear," he slowly said. "I am against employing dirty tricks to achieve these goals."

"Rest assured, Senior Feng, all we are going to do is push you closer to Senior Shen, and push me closer to Senior Yan. We don’t need any dirty tricks. Plus, we have cameras recording our every move. I wouldn’t want to risk ruining my good image in public."

Feng Jietang slowly nodded in acknowledgment.

"Ok."

Lang Yuxuan shot him a satisfactory smile.

"Very good," he said. "Well then, see you in three days, Senior Feng."

Shen Jingwei enjoyed a restful three-day holiday devoid of any lessons, thanks to his manager’s boundless generosity.

Once the three days were over, though, Zhu Dongyi arrived at his apartment at six o’clock in the morning, ready to drag his poor protégé to CNC Studio.

"Old Zhu, it is so early," Shen Jingwei yawned. "Even ghosts are still wandering around. Why are we even out here?"

"Nonsense," Zhu Dongyi snapped.

"Now, listen here, Little Shen. The two largest entertainment companies are vying for you. It is the best chance to of you on the screen. We want you to gain more fanbase. We want you to be on top of the hot search list at all times!"

Shen Jingwei rubbed at his teary eyes.

"Very ambitious, Old Zhu," he said. "Unfortunately, everyone else is attempting to do the same."

"Yes, but not everyone is as talented or good-looking as you!" Zhu Dongyi, bless his heart, insisted.

Shen Jingwei snorted with laughter.

If he was such a catch, then why did he spend three years playing corpses and cannon fodders?

Nevertheless, he had to agree with Zhu Dongyi on one point -- participating in this reality show was indeed a golden chance to showcase his abilities and personality and share them with a wider audience.

And it all must happen naturally. There was no script to hold on to.

Meaning, it was not possible to prepare himself for the realitv TV show.

Their car and another sleek vehicle arrived at the CNC Studio headquarters parking lot almost simultaneously.

The second car, a luxurious model with a gleaming black finish, glided effortlessly into a vacant parking space. As the car came to a stop, two figures stepped out.

It just had to be Yan Renzhong and Wen Guilin.

Courtesy prompted the managers so greet each other at the same time.

"Good morning, Manager Zhu."

"Ah, good morning, good morning, Manager Wen, nice to see you again. Have you been well these past three days?"

The two managers quickly walked at the front, leaving their protégés behind.

Yan Renzhong blinked at Shen Jingwei, his face cold and expressionless as always.

"Good morning."

"Good morning."

They walked stiffly side-by-side, their interaction cloaked in utter silence, very much in contrast to the two managers, who had begun talking about breakfast menus at CNC Studio’s canteen.

"Have you had your breakfast?" Yan Renzhong suddenly asked.

"Uh, no. I was literally dragged out of bed at six this morning," Shen Jingwei answered without much thought.

"I see."

"... What about you?"

"No time."

"... Oh."

Yan Renzhong did not look disheveled at all. In fact, he looked like he already woke up two hours ago, ready to begin the day with some physical exercises.

Shen Jingwei patted his own face several times.

Did he look sleepy?

Hopefully not.

He did not want to make a bad impression on the first day.

"So, what do we know about the setting this season?" Shen Jingwei asked.

"Nothing," Yan Renzhong replied. "CNC Studio’s production team likes to keep everything under wrap. Filming will start the moment we leave the headquarters."

Wow. So no time to get ready at all???

As if reading Shen Jingwei’s mind, Yan Renzhong spoke with a slight smile on his face, "No one will be doing your make-up or taking care of your basic needs. You will be on your own the moment the camera rolls."

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Was it too late to excuse himself to go to the men’s room? Where was the nearest toilet anyway?

Oh, wonderful, they already pressed the elevator button...

"Welcome, Yan Renzhong and Shen Jingwei!" Shang Ruohai’s words were heard the moment the elevator door slid open. "Go take your breakfast over there, first. We don’t want you to starve on the way to the set."

Oh, good.

Shen Jingwei heaved a sigh of relief.

Shang Ruohai was not heartless enough to send them with empty stomachs to possibly a horrendous place such as an untamed tropical forest. That was good. That was really good.

He and Yan Renzhong were the first to arrive, so they ate breakfast together. One by one, the remaining participants showed up.

Feng Jietang barely swallowed his last bite before Shang Ruohai ushered everyone downstairs.

A big bus was waiting at the parking lot, ready to take them to their destination.

True to Yan Renzhong’s words, the camera crew started filming them the moment they climbed onto the bus.
