Second Take On Romance - The A-List Actor Wants Me -
Chapter 72 : The Final Fight
Chapter 72: Chapter 72 : The Final Fight
Like a gentleman, Shen Jingwei delivered the distressed Feng Jietang to Yunhuan Hotel.
"Are you 100% sure that that guy did nothing to you?" Feng Jietang demanded to know.
Shen Jingwei chuckled.
"Can I be less than 100% sure, Jietang? I am fine. If anything, I practically crushed him under my weight. I am worried about him."
Feng Jietang was about to say, "You can crush me under your weight anytime," but he managed to clamp his mouth shut in time.
Instead, he snorted and said, "If such a big guy cannot take that hit, he is not a real man!"
"..."
Shen Jingwei was not sure about that, but he learned over time that there were times when he simply needed to keep quiet.
"Alright, alright," he patted Feng Jietang’s upper arm in a placating manner. "Go to sleep, hm? It’s past midnight."
"You too," Feng Jietang said. He already walked three steps away from Shen Jingwei before he swiveled around and raised a warning finger at Shen Jingwei.
"If I see you still active on WeChat or Weibo, I am coming after you."
"... Yes, Dad*," Shen Jingwei said meekly.
When morning came, the production team assembled to re-shoot the final fight scene again.
Prior to the shooting, Yan Renzhong called Shen Jingwei over to discuss the last-minute changes with Director Ma.
Director Ma agreed to give Shen Jingwei a lighter prop sword to use during the scene.
True to Yan Renzhong’s words, once he got to wield a lighter sword, his movements became a lot lighter and faster. He also did not have to expend a lot of energy to launch an attack.
"Attack all you want," Yan Renzhong told him when they stood on the stone platform against each other. "I will decide when to take the blow."
With the weight taken off his shoulders, Shen Jingwei could express himself freely.
He hated to admit it, but Yan Renzhong was truly a top-notch swordsman.
He was able to foresee Shen Jingwei’s actions and adjust his own movements in response without making it appear too obvious.
The movements captured through the camera showed the two men fighting earnestly against each other, with Zhang Fengxi slowly getting overwhelmed by Xie Jianyu’s prowess.
His attacks were reduced to defense, which crumbled bit by bit.
Until finally, Xie Jianyu launched himself at him from the air like the God of War and Destruction.
His last blow landed like an enormous storm. It annihilated everything in its path and sent Zhang Fengxi sprawling across the platform in defeat.
Shen Jingwei panted heavily as he watched Yan Renzhong lay on the ground, barely moving.
The final fight finally concluded with a decisive "Cut!" from Director Ma.
The crowd broke into a cheer.
The director and several cast members poured into the set to take a look at both actors’ condition.
"Very good job!" Director Ma praised heartily. "Very good job, the both of you!"
Zhu Dongyi was practically swimming in tears when he wrapped a towel around Shen Jingwei, almost suffocating his protégé in the process.
"Amazing, Little Shen! You have progressed so much within a short period of time! I am sure that you will get more action roles in the future!"
"Yes, yes, Old Zhu, let me breathe, don’t wrap the towel around my face so tightly!" Shen Jingwei cried out.
"Oh, so sorry!"
Zhu Dongyi quickly loosened his grip around Shen Jingwei.
Beneath the towel, Shen Jingwei peeked in Yan Renzhong’s direction. He was surrounded by Wen Guilin and his circle of stars again, including Lang Yuxuan and Ye Lingxia.
By chance, Shen Jingwei’s gaze met with Ye Lingxia’s. She broke into a smile and walked in his direction.
"That was one superb fight," she praised once she arrived in front of Shen Jingwei. "You did an amazing job, Shen Jingwei."
Shen Jingwei pulled the towel off his head and laughed.
"I do not deserve such lofty praises. Thank you, Miss Ye."
Ye Lingxia, at the very least, must be aware that Yan Renzhong was doing the entire job while Shen Jingwei merely moved at will.
"Oh, but you do," Ye Lingxia disagreed. "Do not compare yourself to me or Yan Renzhong. We have been doing this for years. I heard that this was your first big role? And as a swordsman in a xianxia drama too! You should be proud of yourself."
And then she leaned closer to Shen Jingwei and whispered in a conspiratorial tone, "I don’t think Lang Yuxuan would be able to pull that final fight, by the way. It does not matter how hard he tries. He simply doesn’t have the talent."
Shen Jingwei turned slightly pink from the praises.
"Thank you," he said. "I am honored by your kind words."
Ye Lingxia then gave Shen Jingwei a hearty smack on the back, almost making the latter choke on his spit.
"Also, stop calling me Miss Ye. Call me Ye Lingxia. Once you start doing this kind of role, more opportunities will open up for you in the future. I am sure that we will meet again in another drama or movie."
"Mm, I hope so."
Shen Jingwei’s circle of acquaintances didn’t include many A-list actors and actresses. Expanding his network to include more such individuals would be advantageous for his career.
The shooting continued until dawn, at which point Director Ma called for a long break. Filming would resume at night to capture the Winter Solstice act in all its grandeur.

Author’s note :
*A little information about Chinese culture.
If you are used to reading Chinese novels, you will notice that they refer to their parents or ancestors a lot.
If they want to refer to themselves as the superior party, they like to say, "I am your father" or "I am your grandfather", etc.
When they are angry, they like to say, "I am your ancestor".
So when Shen Shen called Feng Jietang "Dad", he was basically saying that Feng Jietang was more powerful than him and therefore, he ought to obey.
