The bag of potato chips fell to the ground with a soft thud.

Lin Ruoye stared at Feng Jietang as if the latter had lost his mind.

Feng Jietang turned slightly pink from self-consciousness. He picked up the bag of potato chips from the ground and dragged Lin Ruoye out of the tent.

"Senior Feng, I don’t know," Lin Ruoye replied helplessly after they arrived at a remote corner. "I mean, you don’t look gay to me."

"I kissed Shen Jingwei," Feng Jietang readily confessed to his junior.

Lin Ruoye’s jaw fell to the ground.

"Y-You... what??? On... on the cheek?"

"No, on the lips!" Feng Jietang hissed. "I kissed him here!" he pointed at his own mouth, afraid that Lin Ruoye, in her denial, failed to locate his lips.

Lin Ruoye required several inhales and exhales before she regained her composure and was ready to speak further about this topic.

"And, uh, Senior Feng, did you... did you like it?"

Feng Jietang started pacing around in front of her.

"I mean... I didn’t exactly hate it. Shen Jingwei’s lips were soft and... his eyes were so beautiful close-up. Arghhhh, what am I saying!"

Feng Jietang grabbed his head with both hands and howled at the blue sky.

"Senior, calm down!" Lin Ruoye desperately tried to keep her composure, fighting off the rising panic in his heart. "Senior Shen is a very attractive man. Surely, I mean, of course, a lot of people would like to kiss him."

She realized her words were nonsense as soon as she said them. That was one illogical explanation. Still, in his desperation, Feng Jietang clung to any glimmer of hope.

Lin Ruoye exhaled out of relief.

"Then... Then, I guess... maybe you are not gay, Senior Feng."

"Oh, Gods. Thank you."

Feng Jietang was so relieved that his knees buckled under him, causing him to topple to the ground.

"B-but why did you kiss Senior Shen, Senior Feng?" Lin Ruoye gingerly squatted in front of Feng Jietang. Now that the crisis was averted, her curiosity got the better of her.

"I... To be honest, I don’t know," Feng Jietang replied.

That night, Shen Jingwei appeared so vulnerable, like a small birdling that just fell out of its nest and did not know the way back.
