The two man engaged in a staring competition none could afford to lose.

When his eyes grew teary, Shen Jingwei was forced to be the first one to blink.

"Sure," he said, trying his best to maintain a neutral, nonchalant tone in his speech. "Go ahead."

Unexpectedly, Yan Renzhong straightened his back and moved away from Shen Jingwei.

"No," he said. "You go ahead. Kiss me of your own accord."

Taking into consideration the fact that Shen Jingwei rejected Yan Renzhong’s kiss many times during the failed scene, Yan Renzhong’s terms were understandable.

But if one considered the past, this was not exactly the best idea of the century.

The last time Shen Jingwei kissed Yan Renzhong, it was captured through a video camera.

The video went viral and he became known as the homosexual acting academy trainee who seduced an up-and-coming actor.

Sensing Shen Jingwei’s reluctance, Yan Renzhong shrugged and said, "You don’t have to if you don’t want to."

He was pushing him to the corner.

Yan Renzhong’s answer implied a crucial detail.

If Shen Jingwei was unable to prove himself here and now, Yan Renzhong would focus his attention on his other jobs, placing "Dance Of The Dragons" at the bottom of his list.

Yan Renzhong did not need the drama to add to his long list of filmography, but Shen Jingwei did! This drama was his lifeline, a chance to rise above his status as a forgotten Z-lister and achieve something significant.

"Dance Of The Dragons" must continue no matter what!

"I did not say that," Shen Jingwei snapped. "I will kiss you."

After taking a more-than-necessary deep breath, Shen Jingwei rose to his feet and closed the distance between them.

"Close your eyes," he said.

Yan Renzhong shook his head.

"Look into my eyes when you do it," he said. "I won’t be able to assess your capability otherwise."

"..."

What capability? It was just a kiss!

Whatever.

Shen Jingwei grabbed Yan Renzhong’s shoulders and pecked him on the lips.

It was over as soon as it landed, too fleeting to generate any impression.

Yan Renzhong gave him a cold, blank stare in response.

"Is that it?" He asked, his tone dripping with disappointment.

"A kiss is a kiss," Shen Jingwei declared.

Yan Renzhong scoffed.

"Congratulations," he said sarcastically. "You have successfully overcome your problem."

Although Shen Jingwei managed to prove himself before Yan Renzhong, he was not happy at all.

He was dissatisfied with Yan Renzhong’s reaction.

Should he not dole out a little praise? Or at least relieved that Shen Jingwei was not going to ruin the drama?

Or did he simply not care?

For some reason, it made Shen Jingwei burn with anger.

"Wait, I am not done yet."

Yan Renzhong furrowed his brows at Shen Jingwei.

"What else do you need?"

The answer came in a way Yan Renzhong least anticipated.

With the swiftness of an eagle striking its prey, Shen Jingwei pinned Yan Renzhong against the couch and captured his lips in a passionate kiss.

Like a seasoned temptress, he teased and tormented Yan Renzhong’s lips, coaxing them open.

Yan Renzhong, eyes fluttering close from the tantalizing sensation, gradually melted into the kiss.

He put one hand behind Shen Jingwei’s neck to lock his position, and the other hand at his waist, pulling him to sit on his lap.

Shen Jingwei’s tongue darted out, exploring the depths of Yan Renzhong’s mouth, eliciting a soft groan from the latter.

Yan Renzhong responded with equal fervor, entwining their tongues in a passionate dance.

The intensity of their kiss was palpable, their bodies pressed tightly together, their breaths mingling in a heated exchange.

As the kiss deepened, Shen Jingwei’s hands roamed over Yan Renzhong’s body, tracing the contours of his muscles.

Yan Renzhong’s hands mirrored Shen Jingwei’s, their touch igniting a fire within them. The world around them seemed to fade away, as they were consumed by the intensity of their sweet encounter.

Until someone who did not know how to knock pushed the unlocked trailer door open.

"Little Shen, it has been fifteen minutes..."

Wen Guilin and Zhu Dongyi stood at the doorway, their jaws slack in amazement. They only saw their protégés making out with each other for a split second before Shen Jingwei jumped off Yan Renzhong’s lap out of fright.

"It was practice!" He announced before any of the managers got the question past their lips.

"Practice," Zhu Dongyi slowly said.

"Practice," Wen Guilin confirmed with a vigorous nod.

Shen Jingwei wondered fervently if it was a good idea to bury himself alive in the golden begonia field. Maybe the commercial production team did not mind giving him a hand.

Meanwhile, Yan Renzhong left the couch and gave the dejected Shen Jingwei a pat on the back.

"See you in the fourth shooting period," he said.

That was the cue for Shen Jingwei to go. He could not be more grateful for the dismissal.

After Shen Jingwei and Zhu Dongyi left, Wen Guilin drawled, "Sooo..."

Yan Renzhong returned to lie back down on the couch.

"I haven’t gone through with your plea to step off the protagonist role in ’Dance Of The Dragons’. I assume we can proceed as before?"

"Yeah. There is no longer a need for that."

Wen Guilin mentally pumped her fist in the air.

Thank God she did not act out on Yan Renzhong’s impulsive decision.

Thank God she had more faith in Shen Jingwei’s acting prowess.

Yan Renzhong pressed a hand against his face and closed his eyes to sleep. It was the signal for Wen Guilin to take her leave.

"Great! Rest a little bit, Little Yan. I am going to get you some lunch."

"Hmm."

Once the door was closed, Yan Renzhong was steeped in darkness.

He rolled to his side and thought to himself.

It was good that Shen Jingwei overcame his inhibition in acting out intimate scenes with him.

Pity that the one who helped him was not Yan Renzhong, but Feng Jietang.
