"I will be back soon, Little Yan," Wen Guilin told her protégé through the lowered car window. "Are you sure you don’t need me to accompany you?"

Yan Renzhong shrugged.

"I am home, and the physiotherapist is waiting for me. Your presence will not facilitate my healing in any way. Just take Yuxuan to his audition. He is going to be late if you delay any further."

"Alright."

Lang Yuxuan stuck his head out and waved at Yan Renzhong as the car departed.

"Senior Yan, please take good care of yourself!!!"

Wen Guilin pulled at the young man’s jacket from behind.

The car window rolled up soon after.

Lang Yuxuan gave Wen Guilin a bewildered look.

"That is not the point here! Manager Wen, did you help Shen Jingwei land this job?"

"Well..."

Wen Guilin returned the phone to the young man and gave him a cryptic smile.

"Your Senior Yan was unable to do the job as originally planned, so he recommended Shen Jingwei in his stead."

"But..."

Pain flashed through Lang Yuxuan’s dilated pupils. He looked as helpless as a motherless chicken.

"Why him? Why not recommend me instead? Look, he is now third in the hot search list on Weibo!" he cried out, as if Shen Jingwei’s rise in popularity was a grave sin in itself.

Wen Guilin arched a brow at Lang Yuxuan.

"Little Lang, why don’t you ask him the question yourself? I can hardly give you a satisfactory answer."

Lang Yuxuan slumped back into his seat and grumbled to himself. It was Yan Renzhong’s prerogative whom to recommend, after all. Questioning him would only sour the relationship between them.

The audition might be important to a certain degree, but the role could not compare to a spot in Chun Yao’s MV.
