Second Take On Romance - The A-List Actor Wants Me -
Chapter 36 : Unromantically Entangled
Chapter 36: Chapter 36 : Unromantically Entangled
With the protagonist away from the set, all scenes featuring Yan Renzhong were skipped and the remaining actors and actresses were made to shoot scenes that did not require Yan Renzhong’s presence.
All these scenes were rather easy to shoot, so everyone was in a relatively good mood for the rest of the week.
After three days, the second shooting period concluded and everyone was free to go back to their other activities.
Lang Yuxuan could not have packed up faster. He took the last train late at night, presumably to return to Yan Renzhong’s side as fast as possible.
The rest of the cast traveled to the train station together the next morning.
With the second shooting period over, everyone was visibly in a lighter mood.
Those who had some time to waste before their trains came even went to have lunch together.
To commemorate the end of the second shooting period, they took cute pictures and shared them on their WeChat moments and Weibo pages.
"See you again, Little Shen!" Feng Jietang waved at him enthusiastically when Shen Jingwei’s train arrived. "I can’t wait for the next shooting period!"
Next to him, Lin Ruoye bowed her head gracefully.
"Thank you for the great work, Senior Shen. Let’s meet again in near future."
Smiling brightly, Shen Jingwei too waved at them in return.
"See you again, Jietang and Ruoye. Let’s keep in touch through WeChat."
During the first shooting period, Shen Jingwei’s interaction was limited to mainly Yan Renzhong, Lang Yuxuan, and Feng Jietang.
He did not consider himself a reclusive person by nature, but he did feel awfully self-conscious about his lacking on-screen time and weak acting experience.
The others too, were reluctant to approach him because they simply never worked with him before and did not know what kind of person he was.
Everything changed in the past three days.
Because Yan Renzhong was not there, Shen Jingwei’s interaction with the other casts improved tremendously.
His sweet and cheerful nature won the hearts of many co-starts. Naturally, his circle of acquaintances grew larger.
He gained friends not only from Yunhuan Entertainment but also CNC Studio and other smaller entertainment companies.
His WeChat feed page was filled with colorful posts from his new friends, with images and videos taken at the set.
He was tagged in many posts, too.
Shen Jingwei could not help but grin to himself like a creepy person throughout the journey back home.
Meanwhile, Wen Guilin posted something on Weibo, announcing Yan Renzhong’s injury.
"Mr. Yan is currently recuperating from his sprained ankle. Beloved fans, please pray for his swift recovery!"
It gained 5M likes and 20k comments within ten minutes.
As expected, the heartfelt comments mostly came from female fans.
"Ahhhh, my beloved Emperor Yan, please get well soon!"
"Yan Yan, please take better care of yourself! My heart has been hurting the past 24 hours, we must be connected in the hearts!"
"..."
Shen Jingwei rolled with his eyes.
To be exact, Yan Renzhong’s ankle must be connected to this fan’s heart.
Shen Jingwei went back to his WeChat to check on Yan Renzhong’s page. He had not posted anything.
"..."
He was the reclusive person here. He had always been that way.
Shen Jingwei went back to Wen Guilin’s Weibo post and tapped at his cheek in contemplation.
After a careful deliberation, he decided to post a comment.
"Please get well soon, Yan Renzhong."
He pressed the send button and locked his screen.
The train was moving at a rapid speed.
Vast rice paddies, each square a patch of shimmering yellow, streamed past the train window. The fields stretched as far as the eye could see, a golden ocean rippling under the gentle sway of an invisible breeze. The impending harvest painted the countryside in hues of abundance.
"Little Shen, sorry for the wait..."
Shen Jingwei tore his gaze from the window and saw Zhu Dongyi with a tray of food.
"Oh Old Zhu, thanks for the food. Come, let me help you."
He stuffed his phone into his pocket and reached out to take the tray from Zhu Dongyi.
It was full to the brim with a delectable array of stuffed pancakes, banana fritters, and fried cassava, all complemented by two steaming cups of coffee.
"Isn’t this too much?" Shen Jingwei asked, frowning slightly as he picked up a banana fritter.
"Oh, what do you know," Zhu Dongyi scolded him. "We have been eating roasts and soup for two weeks. I need to tend to my suffering taste buds."
Shen Jingwei laughed.
"You are going to get fat."
"I can," Zhu Dongyi pointed out. "But you can’t. That’s why I enrolled you to a gym. You are going to spend four hours in the afternoon there, twice a week."
"..."
Shen Jingwei could barely believe his ears.
"You already fixed my schedule for next week?"
"Of course!" Zhu Dongyi piped up while chewing on a piece of fried cassava. "Oh, this is good," he moaned.
"Where?"
"Your backpack."
Shen Jingwei grabbed his backpack and rummaged inside.
The first items he found were the unwrapped couple mugs and a box of ceramic paints that Zhu Dongyi bought for him.
Ahhh, he really needed to work on the mugs.
Shen Jingwei pulled out his schedule and started reading.
Other than sword fighting lessons, he indeed had gym training and, curiously, dance lessons.
Argh.
It must be to prepare for the next arc. Zhu Dongyi was certainly passionate about his job.
Shen Jingwei scratched at his head.
"Can you make some time for me tomorrow?"
"Sure, what for?"
"I need you to take me to Yan Renzhong’s apartment. I want to know how he is doing. Besides... We all pooled our money to buy him a get-well-soon gift. I have to deliver it to him."
Zhu Dongyi was pleasantly surprised to hear what his protégé just said.
"Is there something you would like to share with me, Little Shen?" He asked carefully.
"... Like what?"
"Like, for example, whether you are involved with Yan Renzhong romantically?"
"No!"
Shen Jingwei wrinkled his nose in disgust, trying his best to mask his embarrassment with anger.
"Have you been talking to Feng Jietang lately?"
Zhu Dongyi gave him a look.
"Everyone with eyes could see the kiss mark you have desperately been hiding by wearing turtlenecks, Little Shen."
"That was... Arghhh, that was unintentional!"
"Sure," Zhu Dongyi shrugged, his eyes darting here and there comically. "It happens aaaaaaall the time."
"..."
Shen Jingwei later found out that the coffee was not hot enough in comparison to the burning shame within him.
And it was all Yan Renzhong’s fault!
