Chapter 303: Chapter 303 : (Extra) Lang Yuxuan and Feng Jietang’s Side Story (4)
It wasn’t the kind of kiss Lang Yuxuan would describe as "breathtaking" or "extraordinary". Still, it was unforgettable, just like the first kiss they shared months ago. The alcohol rush that time only added to its sweetness, making Lang Yuxuan think about it for weeks to come.
Truth to be told, he didn’t know why he even cared.
Feng Jietang loved Shen Jingwei, and he, Lang Yuxuan, was not yet over Yan Renzhong.
Their first kiss was a blunder.
Their second kiss was part of their jobs.
So he shouldn’t care that much, right?
...
As he stood in front of a sand bag, practicing his punches alone, he couldn’t help but heave an exasperated sigh.
No kidding, was he so thirsty for affection and intimacy that any man would do?
Even if that was the case, he must not end up with Feng Jietang. Feng Jietang just wouldn’t do.
"Oi, Little Lang!"
Lang Yuxuan turned his head and looked at a gym coach, who just called out to him. He was walking toward him with a phone in his hand.
Lang Yuxuan’s.
"Your manager called. Manager Wen, isn’t it? You haven’t been answering your phone, so she asked me to bring your phone to you."
"Oh. Thank you."
Lang Yuxuan grabbed a towel and dabbed beads of sweat off his face and neck.
"Yes, Manager Wen?"
"Little Lang, I am stuck in evening traffic," Manager Wen reported. "You might have to wait for me a full hour before I can get you."
Lang Yuxuan hummed into his towel.
He didn’t have any job lined up for today.
Once the kickboxing session ended, he was free to go home.
What was the point of sitting in the gym and waiting for Wen Guilin one full hour then?
"Manager Wen, I can take the train," he offered. "My apartment is only five stations away. There is no need to pick me up?"
"But..."
Wen Guilin sounded hesitant.
Lang Yuxuan scoffed.
"It’s not like I am an A-List actor in need of constant protection, Manager Wen," he said. "I will be fine on my own."
"Hmm..."
It was only this one time, anyway.
"Alright," Wen Guilin agreed in the end. "Little Lang, go straight home, alright? Don’t go off wandering on your own."
"Hahaha, I won’t."
Why would he.
He had only ever clung to Yan Renzhong and accompanied him to his photoshoots when he had nothing else to do.
Now that Yan Renzhong was gone, Lang Yuxuan’s schedule became less demanding.
The kickboxing session ended after another hour.
By the time Lang Yuxuan stepped out of the gym building, the sun had already set. Only some golden traces were left in the sky, waiting to be swallowed by the inky blackness of the night.
He had only taken three steps away from the building when a strange feeling washed over him. Though the streets weren’t deserted, he felt a distinct sense of being watched.
The feeling was a world away from the adoring gazes of his fans. This was something sinister, something dark.
Lang Yuxuan’s face darkened.
He quickened his walking pace.
Damn it, could it be a black fan?
The train station was just ahead of him.
If he moved faster...
"Lang Yuxuan."
The familiar voice made Lang Yuxuan halt in his tracks.
He turned around and came face-to-face with an old friend. Or better said, an ex-accomplice.
Jin Zhuo stood there, a grim expression etched across his scarred face.
Despite multiple surgeries, his features remained unnatural, similar to a plastic mask.
The deep gashes inflicted by the gang members had been reduced to faint, darker lines of scars. While layers of makeup could conceal these imperfections, the reality remained that beneath the surface, Jin Zhuo was forever marked.
Whenever he looked into the mirror, he would instantly be reminded of the events of that night.
And of course, the people responsible for his misfortune.
"Looks like life is treating you well," he snarled. "I saw you on TV. Congratulations on landing a commercial job alongside Feng Jietang."
Lang Yuxuan furrowed his brows. The grip around his satchel inadvertently tightened when he caught sight of Jin Zhuo.
"Jin Zhuo, what are you doing here?"
"What I am doing here?"
Jin Zhuo slowly sauntered toward him.
"I want you to fix it."
"... Fix what?"
"You fucking little shit. You ruined my life."
Lang Yuxuan took a step backward, but Jin Zhuo followed up with another step forward.
"I am going to scream," Lang Yuxuan said in a low voice.
"Go ahead."
Jin Zhuo casually cracked his neck.
"I am going to tell everyone everything I know about you."
"You know nothing about me."
"Oh, but I do. Heard that you sabotaged Shen Jingwei during one of his scenes, making him fall from the height."
"... Who told you?"
Jin Zhuo sneered.
"Heh. Does it matter?"
"..."
Lang Yuxuan gritted his teeth.
Wu Jin.
Or was it Shang Ruohan?
Why must they drag him down with them?
"Now, why don’t you just come with me? Let us talk like two old friends. No worries, Lang Yuxuan. I didn’t bring any thugs with me to beat you up."
He tapped at the scars at his face.
"But you still need to compensate me for my losses, hm?"
"...."
Without waiting for Lang Yuxuan to give a reply, Jin Zhuo grabbed Lang Yuxuan’s arm and dragged him along a small street.
"Come on already. You worked so hard to land one job after another by sucking up to Yan Renzhong. Now that Yan Renzhong is out of the picture, the struggle has only become harder. It is difficult to thrive in the entertainment industry if no one is there to support you, hm?"
Lang Yuxuan clenched his jaw, his face contorted in tension.
"Jin Zhuo..."
The words had barely formed in his mind when suddenly a sharp male voice cut through the air, like a knife cleaving through a handful of silk threads.
"Let him go this instant, or you will regret it."
