The nightclub in question was located a stretch away from CNC Studio’s headquarters, but it was just around the block from former Beihai Entertainment’s headquarters.

Back in the day, this place used to be brimming with talents and company staff who wasted away late into the night, trying to escape the stifling pressure of entertainment industry.

After Beihai Entertainment was acquired by CNC Studio, its operation was merged into CNC Studio, thus the building was abandoned, pending sale by the original owner.

This nightclub too became deserted.

The owner already planned to shut the nightclub for good when someone from CNC Studio, an ex-talent from Beihai Entertainment, suggested to have one last party to gather everyone and have fun.

How could the owner refuse this golden offer?

For one last night, the nightclub’s pulsating dance lamps would spin, and deafening music would blast through the roof, promising a night of unrestrained revelry.

That night, as agreed, a disguised Lang Yuxuan arrived at around 10 PM. He pulled the hood of his black shirt over his head, trying his best to hide any part of his exposed face from any surveillance camera in the nightclub.

The rhythmic thrum of double speakers greeted him as he passed the door, their bassline echoing the pounding of his own heart.

Lang Yuxuan sat at the bar and sneaked a peek around the surroundings.

It did not take long for him to spot Shen Jingwei, who was sitting amongst his fellow comrades from Beihai Entertainment.

The man sitting next to him must be Jin Zhuo’s accomplice, because he held a bottle of beer in his hands, ready to pour as soon as Shen Jingwei finished taking a sip.

Lang Yuxuan nervously fingered the sachet of sleeping drug in his pants pocket through the fabric.

It was only a sleeping drug.

It was nothing harmless.

He only needed to order the same glass of beer, poured the drug inside, and switched it with Shen Jingwei’s glass.

Afterward, he could leave.

Whatever happened to Shen Jingwei from this point on did not concern him.

"Bartender, I want a glass of beer."

"Sure! Coming right up!"

Lang Yuxuan sneaked another peek at Shen Jingwei. The man’s face was somewhat red. His eyes looked unfocused.

He was drunk, alright.

"Here, your beer."

The glass of beer was slid in front of him.

Lang Yuxuan hurriedly slipped the entire content of the sachet inside. Once he finished, he crumpled the paper and stuffed it back into his pocket.

The fine powder dissolved into the beer quickly, leaving no trace behind.

Now he only needed to make a switch.

Lang Yuxuan turned to look at the man sitting next to Shen Jingwei.

The man, too, was looking for him.

When their gazes met, Lang Yuxuan lightly tipped at the edge of his glass.

The man nodded with a solemn expression across his face.

"Guys, what are we doing here? Sitting and drinking? We should be dancing!"

He then rose to his feet and proceeded to urge everyone at the table to move to the dance floor.

"Come on, come on, just a little beer and you can’t stand already? Are you still a man?"

Shen Jingwei giggled like a silly person as he was dragged toward the dance floor.

The circular couch was soon empty, with only five glasses of beer sitting inconspicuously on the table.

Lang Yuxuan swallowed hard.

This was it.

He jumped off the high chair and casually strolled close to the empty circular couch.

No one was watching him.

Everyone was occupied with either dancing, drinking, or flirting.

He could do it.

He just needed to switch the glasses real quick...

But then, for no reason at all, a male voice chose that moment to tug at his conscience.

"You should avoid the same fate as Liu Wenyuan."

"..."

"You are possibly as cunning and jealous as your character, but you are still Lang Yuxuan. You are not Liu Wenyuan. You can still go back to the right path. So go back."

Lang Yuxuan’s fingers tightened around the handle of the beer glass.

Why, of all times...

"I can’t dance anymore," Shen Jingwei’s voice was heard amongst the cheerful beat of loud music. "Sorry, guys, just let me rest for a while."

Shen Jingwei was returning to the couch!

Lang Yuxuan’s soul almost left his body. He quickly distanced himself from the couch, just seconds before Shen Jingwei plopped down the couch and leaned his upper half against the table.

Was he asleep?

He was not moving at all.

Lang Yuxuan swallowed again.

He was still holding the glass of drugged beer.

It turned out that it was not necessary at all.

That fool, Shen Jingwei, fell asleep on his own accord!

Whatever happened from this point on was not his undoing at all!

He was innocent.

Happy and relieved, Lang Yuxuan subtly moved toward a potted plant at the corner of the room and poured everything into the pot.

So his job was done, right?

He could go now, right?

So he watched Shen Jingwei’s sleeping figure from afar until a disguised Jin Zhuo showed up with two unknown men.

Jin Zhuo, who spotted Lang Yuxuan near the potted plant, flashed him a wicked smile before he left.
