Chapter 236: Chapter 236 : Happy Birthday, Yan Renzhong (1)

The plane they took was not any other plane, but Shang Ruohai’s very own private jet. The luxurious interior boasted soft velvety armchairs to ensure the exclusive passengers’ utmost comfort.

As soon as they stepped their foot onto the plush turkish carpet, they were greeted by a steward.

"Good morning, gentlemen. May I offer you something to drink? Our collection boasts a range of exceptional wines, cognacs, and whiskeys, curated from the most esteemed years."

"Don’t get too tipsy," Yan Renzhong warned Shen Jingwei. "Otherwise, you might never go beyond the hotel bedroom."

Shen Jingwei gulped.

"Orange juice for me," he answered readily.

He barely lowered himself onto his seat when his phone started ringing urgently.

Zhu Dongyi had arranged for him to receive notifications as soon as his name was mentioned on Weibo.

Right now, his name was rising to the top of the hot search list, and for a very good reason -- CNC Studio had finally released the promotional photos for the second season of "Dance Of The Dragons".

In other words, pictures of pregnant Shen Jingwei as Xie Jianyu were making their rounds all across the net.

Shen Jingwei groaned into his hands.

"Noooo," he wailed like a wounded animal. "Whyyyy..."

CNC Studio’s official post quickly gained a lot of likes and comments, most notably from Yan Renzhong, Ye Lingxia, and Lin Ruoye.

Feng Jietang did not like the post, but he left a sad emoji in the comment area.

#JieWei fans in particular quickly sympathized with him. They replied to his sad emoji with a lot of unhelpful comments.

"Your Highness Prince Jiang Muchen, I am writing a fanfiction in an alternate universe, where you slay the Supreme General and claim the Crown Prince for yourself!"

Shen Jingwei shuddered.

"Don’t be sad, Your Highness! Omegas are as many as fishes in the sea!"

.... This fan must be living inside Lu Shui’s novel.

"Tang Tang, I love you! Let me bear your babies for you!"

Shen Jingwei choked on his orange juice when he read that last comment.

The private jet took them to a tropical paradise, known for its pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and vibrant coral reefs.

By the time they landed, it was already close to 5 PM.

After going through the check-in procedures, they were guided to their accommodation -- a luxurious overwater bungalow, one of many that were interconnected by wooden bridges. The aerial view of this unique structure was breathtaking, resembling a branching, flourishing tree.

Inside, their suitcases were already waiting for them.

Shen Jingwei wanted to unpack, but Yan Renzhong circled his waist from behind and dragged him toward the sun deck.

"Yan Renzhong...!"

"Do that later. Come and enjoy the view."

The scenery outside was so mesmerizing that it took Shen Jingwei’s breath away.

The sun was slowly dipping below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the rippling water surface.

A soothing breeze, carrying the scent of the ocean, swept through the air, gently stirring their hair.

Yan Renzhong tightened his arms around Shen Jingwei and buried his nose in the crook of the latter’s neck.

His lips pressed against Shen Jingwei’s nape, sending a shiver of pleasure down his spine.

"I already booked a dining spot for us at the beach," the taller man whispered.

He then planted kisses along Shen Jingwei’s neck and whispered, "I would love to walk there with you. The sunset view is incredible."

Shen Jingwei’s lips curved into a smile. He grabbed the back of Yan Renzhong’s neck and pressed their lips together in a passionate kiss.

"Let’s go, then," he whispered in return. The gift he prepared for this occasion was ready, tucked nicely in his pocket.

One could almost say that the resort was reserved to mainly couples.

As they walked hand-in-hand along the beach, Shen Jingwei and Yan Renzhong came across other guests, all in pairs.

Some were sitting at the beach side, chatting to each other while soaking their naked feet in the cold water.

Some were found cuddling with each other under rectangular tents some distance away from the water.

Some, like them, were walking along the beach, admiring the setting sun.

For half an hour, the sky was ablaze with a fiery sunset in a breathtaking display of nature’s artistry. As the last rays of sunlight faded into oblivion, the sky transformed itself into a velvet canvas, dotted with countless stars.

"So beautiful," Shen Jingwei whispered. "I love it."

As they fell into an embrace, they shared a loving kiss with each other.

Initially, Shen Jingwei wanted to wait until they finished dinner, but right now he was overcome with so much love for his boyfriend that he could barely contain himself.

"I have something for you," Shen Jingwei blurted out.

"Oh?"

Shyly, Shen Jingwei produced the jewelry box out of his pocket. It was dark blue in color, lined in velvet and bearing the logo of the jewelry store itself.

"It’s just a little something I bought for us."

Shen Jingwei’s voice trembled when he spoke.

Funny how he did not hesitate at all when buying these couple rings a while ago, but now anxiety clawed at him, a knot of tension forming in his stomach.

"Happy Birthday, Yan Renzhong. I wish you a lifetime of good health, boundless happiness, and unwavering success...

This is my birthday gift for you. I really hope you like it."

He opened the box, and it showed two white gold rings neatly placed next to each other. Thin but strong silver chains hung from the rings, tucked neatly beneath their pillow.

"..."

Yan Renzhong’s lips parted slightly, his eyes widening in surprise.

"I-i-it’s NOT an engagement ring," Shen Jingwei cried out, afraid that Yan Renzhong might think that way. "These are couple rings! One for you and one for me. Look, I even engraved our initials in the rings..."

Before Shen Jingwei spoke further, Yan Renzhong took the box from his hand and pulled him close.

"What was that?" He asked, his sound dripping with menace.

"These better be engagement rings."

"...."

In light of Yan Renzhong’s persistent gaze, Shen Jingwei did not dare to repeat what he previously said.
