Second Take On Romance - The A-List Actor Wants Me
Chapter 201 : Feng Jietang’s Inner Struggle

Chapter 201: Chapter 201 : Feng Jietang’s Inner Struggle

"Hey, Brother Wu."

Feng Jietang sounded dispirited.

Wu Jin leaned an elbow against Feng Jietang’s shoulder. Seeing two handsome men in such a friendly pose, other crew and cast members could not help but steal secret glances.

They wouldn’t be able to guess that these two men were talking about a third person, specifically a certain slender man who was chatting with an actress by the drinks table.

"You like him, don’t you?"

Feng Jietang clenched his teeth.

"Don’t be ridiculous. He’s taken," he blurted out before slapping a hand against his mouth.

Wu Jin arched a brow in surprise.

"Oh? He is dating Yan Renzhong? Is it official?"

Feng Jietang cursed his big mouth.

"Look, just keep it a secret. Little Shen is going to hate me if he knew that I blabbed."

Wu Jin grinned.

"Naw, I won’t blab. CNC Studio management is going to wring my neck if I dare reveal this matter to public."

Feng Jietang breathed out of relief.

Good that they both had their tongues tied due to a tacit understanding between the entertainment companies.

"What a pity, though, that’s all I am saying," Wu Jin muttered.

"Pity how?" Feng Jietang asked.

"Well. Shen Jingwei is a good guy. Kind-hearted and pure, with zero malicious bone in his body. He deserves someone better than Yan Renzhong."

"..."

Feng Jietang knew that very well. But he couldn’t say it out loud, could he?

Wu Jin shot him a skewed smile.

"Someone like you, for example."

"..."

Feng Jietang averted his eyes.

"Little Shen chose him," he pointed out. "He already made the decision, and I am happy for him."

Wu Jin took his arm off Feng Jietang’s shoulder and sighed.

"It is said that when you truly love someone, you should learn to let go. But what if that someone is landing in the arms of the wrong man?"

"..."

As if Feng Jietang had not thought about that.

"I mean, there gotta be a reason why they can’t make it official."

"... That..."

"Dance Of The Dragons scores a consistently high rating week after week. The #RenWei couple tag has been going strong for a while now, not to mention the countless fanfics and fanarts that coursed Weibo. Audience satisfaction rating is very high.

Traditionally, this is the best time to announce a relationship, if any."

"..."

"So why, do you think, does Yan Renzhong not take the initiative to announce his relationship with Shen Jingwei?"

There was only one logical explanation for that, but Feng Jietang refused to accept it. Shen Jingwei had already given Yan Renzhong a second chance. Surely that bastard knew to appreciate Shen Jingwei. Surely...

But Wu Jin’s voice pierced through his certainty like a sharp arrow, sowing seeds of doubt in his mind.

"It’s because he does not plan to be with Shen Jingwei in the long run. My bet? He is going to dump the poor man the moment Dance Of The Dragons finishes filming."

Feng Jietang stared blankly into the distance, his mind racing with vivid images.

He imagined Shen Jingwei, heartbroken and in tears, betrayed by the man he loved unconditionally.

He also envisioned Yan Renzhong, climbing higher and higher, having used Shen Jingwei as a pawn for the second time.

Wu Jin leaned closer to Feng Jietang, putting the latter’s deepest, most inner thought into words.

"If you don’t do anything to prevent it, Brother Feng, you are going to regret it bitterly. A man can only take that much."

More horrid images flooded Feng Jietang’s mind. Even if he wanted to stop them, he could not. They kept coming.

After nearly a decade in the entertainment industry, what horror stories hadn’t he heard? He’d heard countless tales of careers ruined and dreams shattered by poor choices and misplaced trust.

The grim future he’d witnessed in countless others was now rapidly approaching Shen Jingwei.

Did he really want to just stand idly by and watch...?

Wu Jin ended his exhortation with a light pat on Feng Jietang’s shoulder.

"Well, think about it."

Feng Jietang was frozen in place and gave no answer.

Wu Jin left with a smirk across his face.

It didn’t matter to him whether the loving couple announced their relationship or not.

Once Yan Renzhong divulged his homosexuality, a lot of question were bound to surface.

His popularity was going to be affected.

But if Yan Renzhong continued keeping Shen Jingwei in the shadow, it was going to put a strain in their relationship.

Shen Jingwei’s patience might be as deep as the ocean, but even the vastest reserves could eventually run dry.

By then, what was going to happen?

If they broke up, how devastated was Yan Renzhong going to be?

Wu Jin chuckled to himself.

It was his victory, one way or another.

Meanwhile, Shen Jingwei, who remained oblivious of Feng Jietang’s inner struggle, received several messages on his phone.

The first one was from his little sister, Shen Dou Dou.

"Big Brother! We are going to arrive in an hour! See you at the train station!"

The second one was from his boyfriend, Yan Renzhong.

"Jingbao, I am picking you up in ten minutes."

Shen Jingwei smiled to himself.

Following through with her plan, Shen Dou Dou had successfully entered the manhua college she wanted to visit.

Today, she and Mother Shen relocated to the city for good. The old house at Nanwu Town had already been rented out to a small family.

Yan Renzhong found Mother Shen and Shen Dou Dou a small house within walking distance to Red Jade Pavilion. It had good commute options to Shen Dou Dou’s new college as well.

After years of being apart, the Shen family was finally going to be reunited.

To celebrate, they were going to dine as a family for the first time.

This also marked the first time Mother Shen and Shen Dou Dou met with Yan Renzhong again after Shen Jingwei started cohabitating with Yan Renzhong.

Shen Jingwei bit into his lower lip nervously.

Hopefully the atmosphere wouldn’t be too awkward...
