Second Take On Romance - The A-List Actor Wants Me -
Chapter 148 : Wu Jin (2)
Chapter 148: Chapter 148 : Wu Jin (2)
"Oh..."
Shen Jingwei was slightly embarrassed. Given his limited exposure to music recently, he wasn’t familiar with the popular artists of the moment.
"I sing the opening soundtrack for the first season of ’Dance Of The Dragons’," Wu Jin added.
"Oh."
Now Shen Jingwei was mortified. Now he knew when and where he saw Wu Jin. The singer sang the opening soundtrack during the private screening.
"I am watching the first season on television every week. I admire your acting skill very much."
Shen Jingwei groaned in his heart. Wu Jin should be offended because Shen Jingwei did not know him, but in contrast to his cool appearance, the man was quite sociable.
He was good at making others feel comfortable in his presence, dispersing awkwardness as easy as turning his palm upside-down.
"By the way, this is my manager, Duan Sizhe."
"Hello, Old Duan. My name is Zhu Dongyi, I am Little Shen’s manager."
"Nice to meet you, nice to meet you."
Both managers greeted each other respectfully before they all took a good look at the flat tire.
"Oh, this looks really bad," Manager Duan commented.
"It is."
"Where are you two going? If it’s not too far, let us give you a lift..."
"Impossible. We are heading to Frosty Mist Mountain Falls."
"Right..."
Manager Duan shook his head.
"We are heading to a completely different area."
"We do have a spare tire," Wu Jin said with a shrug. "Why don’t we give them ours? Thankfully, all cars CNC Studio arrange for long travel are of the same make."
"But Little Wu, what if we get flat tire as well on our way...?"
Wu Jin tapped at his manager’s shoulder with a chuckle.
"Let’s get ourselves another spare tire in the next gas station. Be positive."
"Hmmm, alright..."
After only an hour, the two managers finished replacing the flat tire. Shen Jingwei and Zhu Dongyi were good to go.
"Thank you again for the help," Shen Jingwei said.
"No biggie," Wu Jin remarked. "Well then, be careful on your way."
"Do not go too fast," Manager Duan told Zhu Dongyi. "Otherwise you might encounter more problems."
"Yes, thank you," Zhu Dongyi said. "I was going too fast just now indeed."
Wu Jin and Manager Duan waved at Zhu Dongyi and Shen Jingwei as their car departed.
"So," Wu Jin muttered to himself with an unreadable smile. "That is Shen Jingwei."
"Hm? Did you say something?" Manager Duan asked with a frown.
"I was just reminding you to get another spare tire," Wu Jin said.
"Right. Should we go?"
"Of course."
True to his words, Zhu Dongyi drove a lot slower after recovering from a flat tire.
"They are so nice," he said. "We are lucky, Little Shen. It looks like CNC Studio does have several decent people within its ranks."
Shen Jingwei snapped with his finger.
"Now that I think about it, you did mention him when we talked about the two companies."
"We did," Zhu Dongyi said with a painful grimace. "Little Shen, ah, I know that you don’t have a lot of friends in the upper ranks of the entertainment industry, but you need to mingle with them. Networking is a crucial component for a career growth."
Shen Jingwei sank in his seat and groaned.
"I know," he said. "I embarrassed myself in front of him. I will try to keep certain faces and names in my mind."
"You do that," Zhu Dongyi said. "It will save you a lot of awkward moments."
"... Thank you, I will start now."
Thanks to their flat tire, Shen Jingwei and Zhu Dongyi arrived at their destination late at night.
By then, it was too late to shoot even a scene.
"I am deeply sorry," Zhu Dongyi wailed as he performed a deep kowtow before Vice Director Qin. "We had a flat tire and I didn’t have spare tire. If we did not encounter Wu Jin, we would not make it here at all!"
Vice Director Qin dragged Zhu Dongyi to his feet in a hurry.
"Aiyah, Manager Zhu, there is no need to exaggerate. Get up, get up. You didn’t miss out on much. We used the extra hours to train the local background actors for the Ghost Wedding scene. Everything is fine!"
Shen Jingwei heaved a sigh out of relief.
"Thank heavens," he muttered. "I thought I messed up on everything."
"Nooo, no you didn’t. No worries! You just came after long hours of travel. You should rest a little bit. We already prepared a tent for you."
"Go to sleep, Little Shen," Zhu Dongyi nudged Shen Jingwei. "I am going to discuss your schedule here with Vice Director Qin."
"Right."
Shen Jingwei rubbed at the aching spot between his brows.
"In that case, let me lie down for a little bit."
A crew member was kind enough to take him to the tent he was supposed to share with Zhu Dongyi.
As soon as Shen Jingwei entered the tent, he threw himself onto the folding mattress and fell asleep.
He was so tired that he didn’t even get to tuck himself in properly.
Sometime during the night, he was roused by a series of rustling sounds inside the tent.
At first, he thought that he was dreaming. But then he sensed a pair of hands touching him.
With a jolt, Shen Jingwei’s eyes flew open.
He raised a leg to kick at the person creeping around him while shouting, "Who is that???"
The person caught his leg swiftly and pinned him down under his weight. When Shen Jingwei’s hand arced across the air to hit the intruder, his hand too was caught.
With practiced movements, the bigger man used one hand to lock Shen Jingwei’s hands above his head and the other hand to muffle his scream.
"Sssh," a deep male voice was heard soon after. "Don’t make a noise, you will wake up the entire encampment."
