Chapter 147 : Wu Jin (1)
Chapter 147: Chapter 147 : Wu Jin (1)
"Why? What happened?" Shen Jingwei asked with a frown.
"Mr. Lang is encountering some problems with his scenes, so the filming will be delayed for some time. Probably a few hours," the crew member said while pulling a grimace. "I am so sorry for the inconvenience."
"..."
From afar, Shen Jingwei could see Director Ma scolding a distraught Lang Yuxuan. It seemed that the young man was still unable to get over his feelings for Yan Renzhong.
It was a pity, but there was nothing he could do even if he stayed a bit longer.
"Director Ma has notified the team on site about the delay from Mr. Yan’s side. They will assist you through the scenes without Mr. Yan," the crew member informed him further.
"Alright," Shen Jingwei agreed. "I will leave first, then."
Shen Jingwei, accompanied only by Zhu Dongyi, departed from Peak Point Shooting Studio, bound for the secluded Frosty Mist Mountain Falls nestled deep in a mountainous region. The smooth asphalt road leading to their destination posed no challenge, but its eerie emptiness unnerved Zhu Dongyi, whose anxiety grew with every passing moment.
He wasn’t even able to enjoy the beautiful scenery during their trip.
"Old Zhu, lighten up," Shen Jingwei said. He had lowered a window to savor the refreshing mountain air. "Why are you so stressed, anyway?"
"This is the first time I travel to a remote location with a car," Zhu Dongyi answered with a trembling voice. He had both hands on the steering wheel as if his life depended on it. "What if we get lost? What if we run out of gas? What if we are stranded? Ahhhhhh...!!!"
"Okay, stop panicking," Shen Jingwei said with a sigh. "We can always ask for help. No worries, I am here for you. Do you want some water? Snack?"
Zhu Dongyi’s eyes welled up with tears.
"While I am grateful for your presence, Little Shen, I am also very worried. We might encounter an accident and die. Or worse, you might never arrive at the next shooting location."
"..."
Those were a lot of dark thoughts, spoken in a single breath. Additionally, Zhu Dongyi needed to work on his priorities in life.
"I am sure that we will arrive at our destination just fine," Shen Jingwei declared, his chest swelling with endless optimism. It deflated soon after, when they heard a loud popping sound.
The car skidded uncontrollably, sending Zhu Dongyi and Shen Jingwei into a frenzy of fear before screeching to a stop in the middle of the road.
For the second time that day, Shen Jingwei was reminded of a famous proverb -- "Planning is up to humans, but success is up to heaven."
"Oh no oh no oh no oh no..." Zhu Dongyi chanted before climbing out of the driver’s seat. Behind him, Shen Jingwei followed suit. It did not take long for them to discover the problem. Apparently, they had unknowingly run over a particularly sharp stone, which punctured one of the rear tires.
Zhu Dongyi collapsed on his knees and howled at heaven.
"Why?? Why must this happen on my first car trip to a shooting location?"
"Lighten up, Old Zhu," Shen Jingwei said as he inspected the rear tire. "You have a spare tire at the back of your car. Let’s just replace the tire, quick and easy."
"Right. Right."
Zhu Dongyi stopped lamenting their poor fate and jumped to his feet in a flash.
"I also have some tools to help us. Quick, we need to get back on the road as soon as..."
Zhu Dongyi did not finish his words. Instead, he gaped at the spare tire hanging at the back of his car.
"What’s wrong?" Shen Jingwei frowned.
Zhu Dongyi cleared his throat before giving Shen Jingwei another bad news.
"Ahem, I, uhh, I had a flat tire last month and used up my spare. So, the tire you see there isn’t a spare; it’s actually the other tire that went flat."
"..."
Shen Jingwei almost dropped to his knees and howled at the sky as well.
"If that’s not bad luck, I don’t know what it is..."
As if on cue, a black cat materialized from thin air, sauntering directly in front of them. With a mocking meow, it paused, daring them to challenge it before disappearing from sight.
"..."
"..."
"Little Shen, we might not survive this day," Zhu Dongyi said in a hollow voice. "I am sorry for everything I forced you to do during these past three years."
Shen Jingwei pursed his lips and rolled with his eyes.
"Don’t invite ghosts to your door.*"
For once, heaven decided to reward Shen Jingwei for his positive outlook toward life. A car was drawing near, and the two men took action, positioning themselves in front of it to stop it.
"Help! Help!" They shouted while waving their arms frantically. "We have a flat tire! Please help!"
The other car stopped, and two men stepped out of the vehicle.
One was the driver, and the other one was a handsome man with long, inky black hair that extended to his shoulders. Once he removed his sunglasses, a pair of sharp phoenix eyes became visible. He fixed Shen Jingwei with a penetrating gaze from head to toe.
Shen Jingwei did not know when and where, but he was pretty sure that he had seen this man before.
"If I am not mistaken, you are Shen Jingwei, aren’t you?" the stranger asked.
Shen Jingwei furrowed his brows at the other man.
"Correct, and you are?"
The man’s lips pulled into a friendly smile. He extended his hand toward Shen Jingwei and introduced himself, "My name is Wu Jin. I am a singer under CNC Studio."
