Second Take On Romance - The A-List Actor Wants Me
Chapter 146 : Another Bites The Dust

Chapter 146: Chapter 146 : Another Bites The Dust

Yan Renzhong folded his arms before his chest and looked down at Lang Yuxuan, who was kneeling on the couch with a pitiful expression on his face.

"It does not concern you."

"It does!" Lang Yuxuan choked up with sobs. "Of course, it does, how can you tell me that it does not concern me...!"

"Lang Yuxuan, I am your mentor. I am responsible for guiding you and giving you advice as you walk the treacherous path of the entertainment industry. That’s all we ever will be."

"But I..."

Lang Yuxuan began to cry again.

"I love you, Senior Yan. You know that I love you...!"

"And you know that I love him, don’t you?" Yan Renzhong asked.

"..."

"That is why you sabotaged his dance performance for the Winter Solstice act."

Lang Yuxuan’s blood turned cold in his veins.

"I... I don’t know what you are talking about," he stammered. "Senior Yan, I... I have nothing to do with that incident."

"Don’t lie, Yuxuan. Shang Ruohai already showed me the real footage. I did not drag your ass to the police because I do not want ’Dance Of The Dragons’ to be canceled because of you."

"..."

Lang Yuxuan swallowed hard.

"I didn’t mean for him to get hurt," he mumbled. "I just wanted to scare him a little. Senior Yan, you have to believe me."

Yan Renzhong scoffed in disdain. He closed the distance between them in long strides before squatting in front of the couch, his eyes locked onto Lang Yuxuan’s.

The tone Yan Renzhong used was soft and devoid of emotions, but his words cut deep into Lang Yuxuan’s heart.

"Whether or not you meant to hurt him does not matter to me. You are, unfortunately, neither the first nor the last celebrity to resort to dirty tactics to eliminate their rivals. But one thing I can say for sure..."

At such a close distance, Lang Yuxuan could see the dark, sinister malice deep in Yan Renzhong’s eyes.

"If you dare lift a single finger to harm Shen Jingwei in any way in the future, I will personally come down and crush your acting career."

Lang Yuxuan trembled from head to toe.

"That being said, I expect you to behave yourself from now on. If you can do that, we can still maintain the good relationship we had so far. Just don’t expect anything more than that."

Lang Yuxuan was unable to speak. He averted his eyes from fear and merely gave a stiff nod in response.

"See you in the second season," Yan Renzhong said before he left.

The door closed behind him, and Lang Yuxuan collapsed on the couch.

The younger man hugged himself to dispel the chill permeating through his every cell.

Scary.

Yan Renzhong was too scary.

Numbed by terror, he had to lie there for a while before reaching for his phone and dialing a number.

"... Mr. Shang?" He called out. "Senior Yan was just here. He found out everything that happened during the Winter Solstice act..."

"Is that so?" The man on the other end of the line responded in a casual tone.

"I cannot help you anymore," Lang Yuxuan said. "Senior Yan, he... He is going to destroy me."

The man chuckled.

"Are you that scared of him? No worries, Lang Yuxuan. I won’t give you any more assignments for now. Just lay low like your good senior demands of you."

"Y-yes, thank you, Mr. Shang."

The man ended the call and eyed a chessboard on the table.

He flicked at a pawn, causing it to roll off the board and fall to the floor.

"Another bites the dust," he sighed. "The game is only going to get more interesting from this point on."

It was time to put another pawn to work.

Another month passed, and the first shooting period for the second season of "Dance Of The Dragons" began.

The first major act to shoot was "Crisis In The Human Realm", which will be shot in an outdoor location.

This act constituted the first serious milestone marking the progress in the protagonist and male lead’s love story.

The tug-o-war of emotions between the two characters was delicate, but pivotal in shaping the trajectory of their relationship and subsequent acts.

Given the importance of the act, Director Ma had only one thing to tell Yan Renzhong and Shen Jingwei over and over again.

"Please, please, put aside whatever differences you have and stay in character. Slap when you have to slap, kiss when you have to kiss."

After they heard the same plea for the third time on their first day at Peak Point Shooting Studio, Shen Jingwei turned to Yan Renzhong with a smirk.

"We have practiced the kissing part many times," he pointed out. "Should I start practice slapping you?"

Yan Renzhong snickered.

"You may slap me when we make love."

The words earned him a smack on the chest from Shen Jingwei.

"Pervert."

Yan Renzhong dragged his boyfriend into his arms and whispered, "Only for you, Jingbao."

Shen Jingwei did not have many indoor scenes to shoot in Peak Point Shooting Studio. After breezing through the scenes for half a day, he was ready to head to the outdoor shooting location for "Crisis In The Human Realm", the Frosty Mist Mountain Falls.

At the parking lot, Shen Jingwei’s responsible manager had already loaded their car full of everything they might need for the trip.

"Water, check. Snack, check. Script, check. Dinner, check. Map, check. Pillow, check..." Zhu Dongyi went through his list for the third time before leaving, prompting Shen Jingwei to break into laughter.

"Why so serious, Old Zhu? It’s not like we are traveling alone."

Two other vehicles were expected to join them. One carrying Wen Guilin and Yan Renzhong, and the other transporting several members of the production team.

It turned out that Shen Jingwei spoke too soon. Before long, a crew member rushed toward their car with some bad news.

"Excuse me, Mr. Shen, I am here to notify you about the sudden change of plan. Mr. Yan is not going to be able to finish shooting the scenes in time. Mr. Shen, you should go ahead," he said.
