Chapter 145 : Coaxing Lang Yuxuan
Chapter 145: Chapter 145 : Coaxing Lang Yuxuan
"Cut...!"
Yan Renzhong straightened his posture and extended a hand to a co-star, whom he just killed in a scene.
"Good job," he praised the other actor.
"Thank you, you were awesome as always. It’s always a pleasure performing an act with you," the actor said in reply.
Yan Renzhong smiled.
"Little Yan...!"
When he turned around, he saw Wen Guilin approach with a bottle of water and a fresh towel.
Her grim face suggested that something troubled her.
Yan Renzhong took a sip from the bottle and wiped sweat off his face.
"What’s up?" He asked.
"It’s that mentee of yours, Lang Yuxuan. The shooting for the second season of ’Dance Of The Dragons’ is going to start next week, but he has yet to overcome his heartbreak. I don’t know what to do with him."
"Ah."
"Little Yan, please do something. Anything. Talk to him. Baby him."
Yan Renzhong sighed into his towel.
"Do we have anything planned for tonight?"
"Nope, your schedule is clear," Wen Guilin answered smoothly.
"Let’s pay him a visit then. I suppose he is sulking in his own apartment?"
"Correct."
The shooting concluded at 6 PM, right before dinner time.
After taking a shower and changing into a fresh set of clothes, Yan Renzhong climbed into Wen Guilin’s car and they drove toward Lang Yuxuan’s apartment.
On their way, Yan Renzhong took the time to check the activities on social media.
The tenth episode of "Dance Of The Dragons" had been aired on television, with the entire season available to watch on select online streaming platform.
Thanks to viewers’ support, the show maintained a high rating and occupied the top rank of ongoing C-Drama for the past five weeks.
As a result, all actors and actresses performing in the drama had also gotten a huge boost in their career.
Even Yan Renzhong, who was famous before he joined the cast list of the drama, experienced a renewed surge of traction and fan base.
The success of a drama was short-lived, and had to be enjoyed for as long as it lasted.
Director Ma was pushing hard for a second season, and everyone was eager to return.
Liu Wenyuan featured a lot in the second season.
They could not afford to have Lang Yuxuan lose his spirit in this critical period.
The car glided into the parking lot of a modern real estate building. This was where almost all CNC Studio’s newcomers resided upon signing with entertainment company.
Yan Renzhong removed the seat belt and went out of the car.
"Little Yan," Wen Guilin called out through a rolled-down window. "Be gentle to Little Lang. He is very sensitive right now."
"I know," Yan Renzhong muttered.
He hiked up the brick walkway leading to the building and took the elevator to Lang Yuxuan’s floor.
Although he had been Lang Yuxuan’s mentor for over a year now, he never took the initiative to seek his mentee out.
Mainly because he wanted to keep their relationship strictly professional.
He did not want Lang Yuxuan to develop misconceptions about their personal interactions.
It turned out that it was all for naught, because he still had to come here tonight to coax Lang Yuxuan.
"Lang Yuxuan, it’s me, open up," Yan Renzhong said as he knocked the door.
He heard some rustling noise beyond the door before the it slowly opened, revealing a disheveled Lang Yuxuan with reddened eyes.
The younger man looked like he had been crying for a week straight.
Yan Renzhong sighed.
"What happened?"
"I failed the audition," Lang Yuxuan sobbed, waving his phone screen in front of Yan Renzhong. "I lost against Lin Ruoye!"
It was an audition for a beauty product commercial spot.
"If you can’t get yourself in a grip, you are going to lose many more auditions," Yan Renzhong said mercilessly.
Lang Yuxuan turned around and ran toward a couch. He threw himself against the couch and howled.
"I am so useless," he whined. "I can’t even beat Lin Ruoye!"
His words suggested that he already lost to Shen Jingwei, so he couldn’t lose to Lin Ruoye.
"Yuxuan, you are responsible for your own development. Stop comparing yourself to others."
"But if I don’t compare, how do I know that I suck???"
Yan Renzhong shook his head.
"If all you get from comparing yourself to others is even lower self-esteem, might as well stop."
Lang Yuxuan whipped around to look at Yan Renzhong, his face streaming with tears.
"Senior Yan, it is easy for you to talk. You are an A-List actor!"
Yan Renzhong gave him a cold stare in return.
"And do you think my landing there was a fortunate stroke of serendipity?"
His voice carried a glacial undercurrent that sent shivers down Lang Yuxuan’s spines.
"No," Lang Yuxuan said in a small voice. "Of, of course not."
"Everyone is fighting for a chance to succeed. You are not being disadvantaged in any way. If anything, you should make use of Dance Of The Dragons’ high rating to make a name for yourself."
Lang Yuxuan broke into a wave of sobs, his shoulders wracked by profound sadness.
"I... I am trying... Sob... I really am."
"Not hard enough," Yan Renzhong remarked.
"Lin Ruoye scored two advertisements this week. Feng Jietang’s latest action movie was released three days ago, successfully boosting his popularity rank in Weibo. Ye Lingxia is going to play the protagonist in a new xianxia drama. The filming is going to take place next month. What about you? What do you have to offer?"
Lang Yuxuan dug his fingers into the couch.
"I..."
"I have said everything I need to say as your mentor," Yan Renzhong sighed. "The rest is up to you. Pick yourself up before the shooting for the second season begins."
Lang Yuxuan pressed his lips together in indignation.
"Is that really all you have to say, Senior Yan?" He slowly asked.
Yan Renzhong’s facial expression remained impassive.
Lang Yuxuan swallowed his bitter tears.
"Are you not going to tell me anything about your relationship with Shen Jingwei...?"
