Chapter 128: Chapter 128 : The Private Screening (2)
"No," Shen Jingwei promptly answered. "It’s not the right time for that."
A thin smile spread across Yan Renzhong’s lips. He knew Shen Jingwei would say that.
"Well then, let’s seize the few moments we have together, disguising our love with a veneer of hate and topping it with a layer of affection. It shouldn’t be too difficult for us..."
"I want to tell Jietang," Shen Jingwei blurted out.
Yan Renzhong’s smile faded somewhat when he heard Feng Jietang’s name coming out of Shen Jingwei’s mouth.
"Why?" He asked, an undercurrent of jealousy lacing his tone.
"I do not wish to deceive him."
"And I don’t want anyone else to know about my family situation," Yan Renzhong pointed out.
That was the reason he deliberately allowed Feng Jietang to throw mud at his face and portray him as the villain in the first place.
He wanted to protect his surviving siblings. Shen Jingwei knew that much.
"I know. I will not implicate you. I will leave your family matter out of the conversation, I promise."
Shen Jingwei’s reassurance did not make Yan Renzhong any happier.
Yan Renzhong groaned as he sank in his chair.
"Jingwei, why do you even need to tell him anything? Just keep him in the dark."
"He’s my..."
Yan Renzhong arched a brow at Shen Jingwei.
"He is your what?"
"He is a good friend of mine," Shen Jingwei confirmed. "He has always been there to support me in my most difficult times."
Yan Renzhong sighed.
"Good friends do not confess their love to each other."
"I did not confess to him," Shen Jingwei said, raising his brows at Yan Renzhong.
"Still doesn’t make him any less of my rival, both in acting and in love."
Shen Jingwei sighed.
"You already have me. Just let me talk to him, that’s all."
"Do I?"
Separated by two screens and distance, the two men exchanged solemn looks at each other.
"Don’t you...?"
"You are not mine completely, not quite."
"... Give it some time, Yan Renzhong."
It’s not like he didn’t want them to be together. They both knew why they had to keep their relationship a secret for now.
Yan Renzhong slowly exhaled, as if dispelling irritation from his system.
"Fine. Talk to him. No word about Yaya, Xiaoling, or Song Zhuguan," he warned.
"I promise," Shen Jingwei said with a disarming smile.
"I will pick you up tomorrow at five. Stay pretty for me."
Shen Jingwei rolled with his eyes.
"Bye."
He was about to end the video call when Yan Renzhong suddenly called out to him.
"Wait."
"Hm?"
"I love you," Yan Renzhong whispered. "I wish you could be here with me."
It was almost unfair. Yan Renzhong only needed to flirt a little and a spark of warmth ignited in Shen Jingwei’s heart.
"I love you too."
"Good night, my sweetheart. Ah yes, I thought about a good nickname for you."
Shen Jingwei frowned.
"What nickname?"
"Jingbao*," Yan Renzhong grinned. "I am going to call you Jingbao from now on. Good night, Jingbao."
"H-hey!!!"
Shen Jingwei did not get to protest because Yan Renzhong swiftly ended the call.
"How embarrassing," Shen Jingwei grumbled. Still, he could hardly prevent the corners of his lips from tugging upward in delight.
The sleek black limousine pulled up in front of Shen Jingwei’s apartment building the next day at 4.50 PM.
Yan Renzhong, the handsome boyfriend with tall and commanding figure, arrived at Shen Jingwei’s door with a box of chocolate and a bouquet of flowers.
Shen Jingwei looked him up and down in bewilderment.
"Are we going to the private screening or a date?"
Yan Renzhong cocked his head to the side and grinned.
"Must it be one of two? Can it not be both?"
Shen Jingwei chuckled.
"Fine," he said. "I am still getting ready. Will you please come in? Sorry, my place is a little messy."
Yan Renzhong’s eyes landed at the pile of unopened letters and gifts in the living room.
"Wow," he whistled.
"Don’t act like you didn’t get any," Shen Jingwei commented as he combed his hair backward in front of a mirror.
"I do."
Yan Renzhong put his arms around Shen Jingwei from behind and kissed the latter along his slender neck.
"But my assistants usually sort through the gifts and summarize the letters for me."
"I don’t have any assistant specifically to do that," Shen Jingwei reached up and patted Yan Renzhong’s cheek.
Yan Renzhong proceeded to kiss Shen Jingwei’s cheek.
"Behave yourself," Shen Jingwei turned around to face the other man.
"Am I not?"
Yan Renzhong put both arms up and pinned Shen Jingwei between his large frame and the mirror.
Shen Jingwei craned his neck upward and closed his eyes. Yan Renzhong’s lips curved into a smile as he accepted the invitation and locked their lips together in a ravenous kiss.
"We should go," Shen Jingwei whispered when Yan Renzhong did not know how to stop after only one kiss.
"We should," Yan Renzhong agreed. His left hand stealthily moved toward Shen Jingwei’s rear side and pinched it. "Otherwise, I might forget the reason I am here."
The private screening started at 6 PM, followed by a dinner party.
As they arrived, they were greeted by a swarm of fans and flashing cameras, their excited shouts for their idols filling the air.
They began chanting "RenWei! RenWei!", so Yan Renzhong granted them a show by placing his hand down a small spot at Shen Jingwei’s back and led him into the cinema.
The fans’ frenzied shouts trailed behind them until the doors closed.
"Welcome, Mr. Yan, Mr. Shen," the welcome committee members rushed to greet them with an enthusiastic smile.
"Your seats are at the frontmost row, A row. It is specifically reserved for the core cast members of the drama. And here are some goody bags to enhance your watching experience tonight."
The goody bags basically contained promotion materials for other equally exhilarating projects under the company. An escort card was pasted on each goody bag, along with the name and role of the recipient.
"We are seated next to each other," Shen Jingwei remarked when he compared their cards. "A10 and A11."
"Lucky us," Yan Renzhong said as they exchanged smiles.
Their smiles quickly disappeared when they saw the people seated right next to them.

Author’s note :
*For those who did not read "Dance Of The Dragons", Zhang Fengxi’s nickname for Xie Jianyu was "Jianbao".
Jian = sword, bao = baby. Together it means "treasured sword"
The "jing" from Shen Jingwei means "peaceful and quiet".
So "Jingbao" means "peaceful and quiet baby".
