Chapter 123: Chapter 123 : Bailing Song Zhuguan Out Of The Prison
After breaking into the Shen family’s house and getting into a brawl with local residents at the neighborhood, Song Zhuguan was dragged to the local police station.
When Shen Jingwei and Yan Renzhong showed up to bail him out, the officers were more than happy to get rid of him.
"What a hateful man," a police officer who happened to be Mother Shen’s acquaintance, Officer Li, told them. "He kept rambling about having a rich son and that we would get in trouble for curling even a hair on top of his head..."
The police officer rolled with her eyes and scoffed.
"Sometimes I wish I were not part of the law enforcement system. Ugh."
Rubbing her chin in contemplation, Officer Li stared at Yan Renzhong.
"You must be his wealthy son. Somehow, you seem familiar. Have I seen you around somewhere?"
"No, you haven’t," Shen Jingwei insisted. "Officer Li, thank you for your hard work. We are going to take him away now."
"Pay the bail fee at the counter," Officer Li nodded toward her left. "Afterward, take the release papers with you and head toward the prison. The warden will take care of the release procedures."
The two men thanked the police officer before heading off to the payment counter.
Officer Li was not lying about Song Zhuguan being grossly insufferable. Even while they were waiting for said man to be released, they could hear him running his mouth the entire time.
"How dare you all treat me like this."
"Your food stinks like shit."
"I am going to sue you all for mistreatment."
The door opened with a bang. Song Zhuguan entered the waiting room, flanked by two correctional officers.
"Here he is," one of them grumbled. "He better does not return here."
Song Zhuguan lit up upon seeing Yan Renzhong, even after the latter took off his tinted glasses and shot him a glare.
"Yan Renzhong, ah... Aiyah, you have become a superstar now. I only need a little money from you. Technically, this is all your fault. If you had allowed the security guards to let me in, I wouldn’t have bothered trying to claim that house as my own. Yan Renzhong, you won’t blame me, will you?"
Song Zhuguan grabbed Yan Renzhong’s arms, but the latter coldly pushed him away.
"The house deed is under my name, but it belongs to the Shen family by right. You have inconvenienced them greatly. Shouldn’t you apologize to them?"
Instead of apologizing, Song Zhuguan shot Shen Jingwei a look dripping with hostility.
"Why do I have to apologize to a faggot like him?"
Shen Jingwei was about to hurl an insult at Song Zhuguan’s face, but Yan Renzhong’s fist was faster.
A single punch sent Song Zhuguan to the floor.
The correctional officers witnessed the altercation between the two men, but suddenly they were very interested in the tree outside the window.
"Old Wei, ah, can you hear the birds outside sing?"
"Huh? Right, right, such a sweet melody. We all need to get close to nature."
"What did you just call him?" Yan Renzhong hissed while pressing down on Song Zhuguan’s stomach with a foot.
"I... Why are you so angry??? I am defending you! This guy almost cost you your career! Ahhh...!!!"
Yan Renzhong pressed harder with his foot, threatening to squeeze out Song Zhuguan’s intestines.
"Apologize for your nasty mouth," he snapped. "He and I are..."
"...the best of friends," Shen Jingwei completed Yan Renzhong’s sentence for him.
Yan Renzhong gave him a bewildered look. Shen Jingwei arched a brow at him, gesturing for him to shut up.
"And you chose this best friend over me, your father?" Song Zhuguan cried out like a wronged victim. "Yan Renzhong, how can you be so heartless? You are supposed to take care of me!"
Yan Renzhong gritted with his teeth. He squatted down and dragged Song Zhuguan up by his lapels.
"Listen up, bastard. You are not my father. I am not obliged to take care of people like you. Thanks to you, my mother died miserably! Thanks to you, Yaya is suffering from deep trauma!"
"It’s not my fault!" Song Zhuguan barked at Yan Renzhong. "It was an accident! If only your mother stopped holding onto those antiquated stuff, we would still be a happy family and Yaya wouldn’t be hurt at all!"
"You...!!!"
Yan Renzhong raised his fist to strike Song Zhuguan. To think that he dared pushing the blame onto his poor, departed mother!
Thankfully, Shen Jingwei managed to drag him away from Song Zhuguan in time.
"Calm down," he hissed at Yan Renzhong, who struggled to break free from him. The man was originally bigger and stronger than him, so Shen Jingwei wouldn’t be able to hold him back for long.
Not with pure physical strength, anyway.
"Think about Yaya," Shen Jingwei whispered in a hurry. "Yaya needs you. You shouldn’t land yourself in trouble. Not for a scumbag like him."
Shen Jingwei’s words hit the right spot, allowing Yan Renzhong to gradually calm down. Shen Jingwei only dared to release him after he made sure that Yan Renzhong was not close enough to snap Song Zhuguan’s neck with bare hands.
"We will take him with us now," Shen Jingwei told the two correctional officers, who were still happily chatting about the magnificent weather outside.
"What? Oh you are still here. Go, go, take him out of here now."
Outside the police station, Song Zhuguan continued begging Yan Renzhong for money.
"Yan Renzhong, I only need several hundred thousand Yuan. After that I won’t bother you anymore, I promise."
"I know," Yan Renzhong’s eyes flashed with malice when he spoke. "You are going to bother Xiaoling instead."
"A father seeking his daughter, how can it be called bothering? I haven’t seen her and Yaya for so long. Where is Yaya now, anyway? I would love to see her..."
"Forget it," Yan Renzhong snapped. "You are not going to hurt Yaya anymore. Not in this lifetime. Now go back to the rehabilitation institute. If you dare bother the Shens again in the future, don’t blame me for being ruthless."
