Chapter 122: Chapter 122 : Shen Jingwei’s Insufferable Sister
Between the two men, the first one to wake up was Shen Jingwei.
Having engaged in a debauched act of lovemaking until he passed out from exhaustion, the man needed some time to rearrange his memories before he recalled everything.
Careful not to wake Yan Renzhong up, he gently extricated himself from the man’s strong arms.
Once he succeeded doing so and sat at the edge of his bed, he fell into a deep contemplative state.
To be clear, it was normal for two people in love to harbor the desire to make love to each other.
If it happened three years ago when they were still dating, Shen Jingwei might not waste much thought on it.
But it happened yesterday, after they went through one emotional rollercoaster ride after another.
Was it wrong to crave intimacy nonetheless?
He sat there in silence, trying to answer the single question. Unfortunately, he was unable to piece together the answer.
"You are awake," Yan Renzhong spoke behind him.
Shen Jingwei turned around and watched the man he loved on the bed, naked without even a quilt to cover his body.
The more he looked at him, the harder it became not to look at a specific erect part between the man’s legs.
In some fanarts on Weibo, Yan Renzhong was portrayed as very well-endowed in that aspect.
After clearing his throat of awkwardness and his mind of dirty thoughts, Shen Jingwei grabbed his pillow and threw it against Yan Renzhong.
The latter caught it with a puzzled look.
"What’s wrong?"
"Nothing," Shen Jingwei murmured. He still felt somewhat uneasy.
His facial expression must have betrayed the turmoil brewing within him, because Yan Renzhong pushed the pillow aside and pulled Shen Jingwei into his arms.
"What’s wrong?" He asked again, cocking his head slightly to the side. "Are you regretting what happened last night?"
He was relieved to see Shen Jingwei shake his head.
"I wanted it to happen as well. It’s only now that I think it might be a little rushed."
Yan Renzhong’s lips curled up into a smile.
"I’d rather think of it as delayed rather than rushed."
"Delayed?" Shen Jingwei blinked at him. "How come?"
Yan Renzhong responded by sliding his hand into the folds of Shen Jingwei’s hair.
"If we didn’t break up back then, we would have done it a long time ago."
"Heh. Well, we didn’t exactly break up."
Shen Jingwei furrowed his brows.
"Or did we?" He asked, in doubt now that he thought about it.
They threw each other quizzical looks.
To be clear, the word "break-up" had never fallen in their conversation before.
When Yan Renzhong was busy taking care of his family problem and assist Shen Jingwei in the shadow, Shen Jingwei erased Yan Renzhong out of his life and focused on rebuilding his life without said man.
"Some people would still call it a break-up," Shen Jingwei argued. "Otherwise, what else should we call it?"
"Maybe just a ’break’?" Yan Renzhong suggested.
They smiled and leaned toward each other for a peck on the lips.
"So what are we doing now?" Shen Jingwei said as he put his arms around Yan Renzhong’s neck. "Ending the break?"
Yan Renzhong planted a kiss against Shen Jingwei’s forehead lovingly.
"I would rather call it ’a second take on romance’."
Shen Jingwei arched his brows at the other man.
"I could swear I heard that phrase before."
He just didn’t know when and where.
Yan Renzhong snickered. He bumped his forehead against Shen Jingwei’s and rubbed the tips of their noses together playfully.
"Are you going to stay naked for much longer?" He asked, mischief twinkling in the depth of his pupils.
"If yes, I might be persuaded to do more than just talk."
Swift as a forest rabbit escaping a fox, Shen Jingwei lifted himself off Yan Renzhong’s lap and grabbed his wrinkled pajamas and Yan Renzhong’s pants from the floor.
He threw the pants at Yan Renzhong and hurried to get into his own pajamas.
"We don’t have time for that," he snapped. "Aren’t you forgetting what you are here for?"
"Ah, yes."
Yan Renzhong sighed.
"I remember. It’s just that the alternative is so much more enticing..."
Shen Jingwei hurled another pillow at Yan Renzhong, this time aiming at his face.
Yan Renzhong blocked the pillow attack with a soft giggle.
The two men readied themselves in the morning before going downstairs, where Mother Shen was busy making breakfast and Shen Dou Dou was munching on a butter toast.
"Good morning," they all said in chorus.
"Oh, it smells so good," Shen Jingwei praised as he took a deep breath and smelled the tantalizing aroma pouring from the stove.
"Nothing extravagant," Mother Shen countered as she brought out two plates of omelettes and toast.
"Did you sleep well last night, Little Yan?"
At hearing the question, Shen Dou Dou whipped her head in Yan Renzhong’s direction.
"Yes, thank you," Yan Renzhong answered graciously.
Shen Dou Dou, ever so cheeky, went on to ask her elder brother the same question, "And did you sleep well, Big Brother?"
Shen Jingwei’s hand, about to stab into his plate with a fork, froze in the air.
He gave his sister an incredulous stare, and Shen Dou Dou responded with a toothy grin.
"It rained so heavily last night," she reasoned. "I heard a lot of noises. Howling of the trees. They sound a lot like moaning sounds of tortured prisoners."
"..."
Shen Jingwei raised a leg and stepped onto Yan Renzhong’s foot in vengeance. To his credit, Yan Renzhong did not even flinch.
"Did it even rain?"
Mother Shen took off her apron and joined them at the dining table. "I didn’t hear anything. It was such a tiring day, I must have slept like a log."
"The rain was heavier close to Big Brother’s bedroom," Shen Dou Dou, who had a death wish, kept babbling non-stop. "That’s why you heard nothing, Mom. It was quite wild, I tell you."
"I see," Mother Shen responded absent-mindedly as she ate her breakfast.
Shen Jingwei was not sure whom to kill first -- his sister or his lover.
Before he made that decision, he needed to accompany Yan Renzhong to the police station first.
