Chapter 846: Chapter 424 The Story of the Spectral Saint Mage (Part 1)

"Otherwise? Do you think your brother was nudging you to go hug the girl just now? Men! Once they’ve got a wife, they forget their own mothers." The voice of the Spectral Saint Mage carried a strange, eerie undertone.

Long Kongkong was stunned for a moment, but the next instant, he felt a tightness around his body. He was pulled from Hep Benn’s arms and flew directly to his older brother’s side. Hep Benn reached out her hand, instinctively trying to pull him back, yet it was no use.

Brothers Long Dangdang and Long Kongkong stood shoulder to shoulder while the Spectral Saint Mage said indifferently, "Long Kongkong, your brother is already in my grasp, and Hep Benn has become a princess of my Wraith Kingdom. This is Calamity City. Life and death are but a thought away for you, but before that, let’s have a proper chat. Now that you’re in my hands and Hep Benn is no longer under your threat, can we confirm her identity?"

The last sentence was addressed to Long Dangdang. Indeed, with life and death in the enemy’s hands, why would they need to lie?

Long Dangdang felt a lightness in his body, realizing he had regained the ability to move. However, this was hardly any different from being restrained earlier. The simple exchange, or rather, the overwhelming force, had already made him fully aware of the significant gap between himself and the Spectral Saint Mage.

"If Hep Benn is here, then where are our parents?" Long Kongkong blurted out.

The Spectral Saint Mage chuckled, "It’s rare that you still remember your parents. I thought you only remembered your lover."

Long Kongkong snapped, "Shut up. Just let my parents and Hep Benn go."

"Slap!" An invisible force struck Long Kongkong’s cheek, sending him tumbling to the ground, as the icy voice of the Sorcery Demon King rang out, "If you can’t speak politely, don’t speak at all."

The Spectral Saint Mage seemed to glance at the Sorcery Demon King, "A lesson is indeed in order. You now have two choices, submission or death. Of course, not actual death, but rather becoming a wraith, a different form of living. I am confident I can preserve nearly all your abilities from when you were alive, including some of your intellect. Don’t even think about self-destructing; you simply can’t in my presence."

A sense of desolation spread through Long Dangdang’s heart. He clearly understood the meaning behind the Spectral Saint Mage’s words: submit or die, and the entire family would be wiped out! Nobody wants to die, and Long Dangdang was no exception. He wasn’t afraid of death, but he didn’t want it, especially with his whole family here!

"Can I see my parents first?" Long Dangdang tried to stay as calm as possible.

The Spectral Saint Mage replied indifferently, "Not now, but you will see them eventually. I know it’s difficult for you to accept serving the Wraith Kingdom because you are not fully aware of humanity’s vile nature. In reality, you should feel it, the differences between you and normal humans. The noble bloodline that runs through your veins, does it belong to the human world?"

"Do you know what our bloodline is?" Long Dangdang asked.

The Spectral Saint Mage replied, "I know some."

Long Dangdang continued, "Is it because of our Bloodline Power that you went to such lengths to capture us?"

The Spectral Saint Mage said, "You could say that, but that’s not the whole story. First, I must tell you, you are not humans."

By this time, Long Kongkong had gotten back up, his face stinging sharply, but neither he nor Long Dangdang contested the Spectral Saint Mage’s statement. In fact, they had already considered the possibility. After all, could humans possess such a strong and unique bloodline? Could humans produce clones, and that’s not clone magic, is it? And could humans grow scales? They were not fused with summoned beasts. All these signs had already indicated that they were not like normal humans.

But knowing was one thing; hearing it from an enemy was quite another.

"How do you know about us in the Wraith Kingdom?" Long Dangdang asked, his voice deep.

The Spectral Saint Mage said indifferently, "I just know. You will understand this issue later. Now that you know you’re not human, there’s no need for any sense of belonging to humanity. Do you know why I established the Wraith Kingdom?"

Long Dangdang said, "I can guess a bit. You must’ve had a deep grudge against humanity in life. That’s why you want to take revenge on humanity."

"Hahahaha!" The Spectral Saint Mage scoffed, "A deep grudge? Can such hatred for humanity be described in just two words? Even the seas of the world couldn’t cleanse my hatred for humanity. Beings as fundamentally flawed as humans shouldn’t exist. Wraiths are much better; at least, in the Wraith Kingdom, I decide the order. Long Dangdang, you’ve been in my Wraith Kingdom for a while now. How do you find the order here? Here, the classes are clear, the ranks are distinct, the barriers strict, orders followed without question. How does it compare to your human world?"

"Can a place devoid of life’s breath even be called a kingdom?" Long Dangdang said coldly.

The Spectral Saint Mage responded, "Why not? At least under my rule, resources are distributed normally, every wraith has a fair opportunity. Everything operates according to my will, with no corruption or self-interest. This world will return to peace, and once the fundamentally flawed humans are completely eradicated from this world, a new world will emerge into unparalleled splendor. Wraiths will endure, eternal and undying."
