Chapter 350: Chapter 174 Luminous Griffin_1
Hearing Long Dangdang’s question, Tao Linlin paused for a moment. After thinking he said, "Theoretically it is possible. However, this would require an even greater level of deterrence. Ideally, it would be best if the other party is completely left without force to resist. If done correctly, the effects would be significant."
Long Dangdang nodded slightly, a glimmer of light flashing in his eyes.
In the glow of the bright moon, Ming Xi spoke, "Captain, a magical beast has been spotted ahead. However, it is currently engaged in battle with one of our demon hunting teams."
Under the bright moon, Long Dangdang asked, "What type of magical beast is it?"
Under the bright moon, Ming Xi responded, "Several simian types, I don’t recognize them. Their fighting power is quite strong, but it’s now being suppressed. It’s only a matter of time before they’re defeated. Do we need to assist?"
Under the bright moon, Long Dangdang said, "No need, guide us around it."
Under the bright moon, Ming Xi said, "Isn’t it wrong not to help when we encounter allies?" Her sense of justice was stirring.
Under the bright moon, Long Dangdang replied, "Have you forgotten about the mission from the instructors? If we assist when the others have the upper hand, we’ll be perceived as stealing their kill."
Under the bright moon, Ming Xi said, "Oh, I see! Okay then."
Her intense sense of justice was slightly headache-inducing for Long Dangdang. He could feel that Ming Xi was quite proud of her sense of justice, and didn’t think she was overly righteous at times.
Guided by Ming Xi, they bypassed a certain area and continued on.
Not long after, Ming Xi’s voice came once again.
Under the bright moon, Ming Xi said, "There’s a strange magical beast ahead. You come and have a look. I don’t recognized it."
Following Ming Xi’s directions, everyone quickly approached and regrouped with her.
Approximately dozens of meters ahead, two magical beasts appeared. The constant low roars and growls indicated that they were in a struggle.
One of them was covered in scales, its body a brownish-yellow color, its upper body erect and dragging a large tail behind it. With a large head and about three meters tall standing, it had a pair of slender but sharp foreclaws. The hind claws that were touching the ground were extremely large. It was fast and periodically spat wind blades from its mouth, attacking its adversary. Hard soil spikes would occasionally appear from the ground, either attacking or blocking its opponent.
Its enemy was a lion completely engulfed in a golden glow. This lion, with gold-colored halo all around it and its body appearing like it was engulfed in gold flames, looked much more appealing. It appeared more ferocious with a body length of over four meters and a larger size. Typically, lions appear more in prairies than in the woods. However, this lion was different. It was covered in golden fur, but it had a pair of large wings on its back that was flapping from time to time. Unlike regular lions, its mouth was hook-shaped, and the mane around its neck was much larger. Its wings would flap occasionally to change direction, but it was evidently affected by the jungle environment.
Nonetheless, the lion-like magical beast was gaining the upper hand. If this had been happening in the sky or on the plains, the upright Scale Armor beast would have long since failed to hold on.
Tao Linlin immediately recognized it though Ming Xi did not! Tao Linlin exclaimed almost instantly, "A griffin, it’s a luminous griffin. This is an immature one!" His voice became excited at this point.
Hearing his words, everyone was taken aback at first, then couldn’t help but show a look of surprise.
Griffins have a deep history with humans, especially with the Knights Temple. The strongest brigade of the Knights Temple isn’t the Earth Dragon Brigade. As for the True Dragon Brigade, it doesn’t exist at all. Within the whole Knights Temple, the most formidable brigade consists of a hundred luminous griffin knights. In this brigade, the weakest knight is a Peak 7th Ranks one.
Although luminous griffins can be bred by humans, it’s extremely difficult and investment wise, astronomical. But their strength is undoubted. Their Luminosity attribute is inextricably linked with human knights, the two complement each other. Moreover, the griffin is a very loyal kind of magical beast. Once it recognizes its owner, it will never change. If the owner dies, it might even be buried with him. That is one of the reasons why the Luminous Griffin Brigade is unable to expand further, another reason, of course, is the difficulty of breeding.
Although luminous griffins can be bred by humans, their fertility suffers after the process. The exact cause is still unknown. It is only known that after being bred, they can only give birth twice and then lose their fertility. Their offspring similarly can’t reproduce in the future.
This makes the wild luminous griffins extremely valuable. The Knights Temple has always put out a high-reward task. Anyone who catches a wild luminous griffin and turns it in to the Knights Temple will receive a great reward.
An adult luminous griffin can compete with an 8th Rank professionist and is a real Level 9 magical beast. In their adulthood, they grow longer than seven meters, are fast as the wind, and aggressive as fire, and more importantly, they are proficient in several kinds of light specialty magic. They are the ideal mounts for knights. Notably, the ability to fly is a huge advantage. So when many knights go to the Knights’ Holy Mountain to find a mount, the luminous griffin is their primary target. After all, not everyone has big aspirations like Long Kongkong to become a dragon knight.
