Chapter 247 - 122: Sun Glory_2
Chapter 247: Chapter 122: Sun Glory_2
Long Dangdang was surprised to see his younger brother rush in. When Long Kongkong first confessed he had fallen for a goddess of a girl, Dangdang had assumed it would be a short-lived infatuation as it had always been, yet unbeknownst to him, Kongkong’s affection persisted, even growing more intense with time.
Upon entering the door, Long Kongkong immediately spotted Hep Benn who was wiping the tables.
She was clad in light grey trousers. It was the season where the weather was turning chilly, and she was wearing a beige high-necked sweater that sketched her figure to perfection. It was filled with youthful vigor while carrying the charm distinctive to young girls. Her long hair was piled on top of her head, revealing a long, slender, and fair neck. From the side, her long eyelashes fluttered, leaving Kongkong in somewhat of a trance.
"Eh, why are you here?" Hep Benn was surprised to see Long Kongkong. Although she appeared calm, the joy in her eyes couldn’t be concealed.
Kongkong stepped forward, took the cloth from her hand, and started wiping the table, grinning as he said, "Because I missed you."
Hep Benn rolled her eyes, "You miss me but didn’t consider coming back to work?"
Kongkong laughed, "We are currently in a selection competition. The selected ones will have a promising future. My brother and I just finished a match, and we won. You have no idea how dashing I was. As soon as the match was over, I rushed over to see you. Isn’t that sincere enough?"
At this moment, the shop door opened again, and Long Dangdang walked in.
Upon seeing Long Dangdang, Hep Benn showed a light smile and nodded at him. Dangdang returned the favor with a courteous smile and nod.
"Have you two eaten yet?" asked Hep Benn softly.
Hastily hugging his stomach, Kongkong called out, "Just about to starve to death. Is there food?"
"Wait a moment. I’ll get that for you. Keep your voice down, Dad is sleeping in the back." Hep Benn lightly punched him.
"Alright, alright." Kongkong quickly lowered his voice, continuing to wipe the table.
With Hep Benn gone to the back, Kongkong seemed flirtatious like never before. Seeing Hep Benn made him feel blissfully satisfied. He was truly content! It was a deep sense of joy and excitement.
Dangdang sat next to a dining table, watching the ever-changing expression on his brother’s face, he couldn’t help but reveal a slight smile. Given Kongkong’s capricious personality, it seemed good to have someone who could command his heart.
It wasn’t long before the aroma of food began to waft from the kitchen. Kongkong couldn’t wait anymore and ran to the back. In just a little while, two large bowls of rib noodles were brought out.
"The goddess said we ran out of rice at noon so she made us noodles. Come, have a taste. It’s fantastic." Kongkong said as he sat down and savored his meal.
The noodles were firm, the ribs carried an irresistible fragrance, all of them the best ribs available. There were more than a dozen ribs in a bowl of rib noodles, obviously extra ingredients added. Stewed rib sauce imbued the noodles, Dangdang also couldn’t resist anymore!
Hep Benn brought out a plate of vegetables from the kitchen, watching the two devour their food, she couldn’t help but laugh. "Eat slowly, if it’s not enough, I will cook more."
Kongkong looked up and smiled at her, his mouth full of noodles, unable to speak. Seeing him laugh with his cheeks bulging, Hep Benn chuckled lightly, murmuring in a gentle voice, "Stay put and eat."
A large bowl of rib noodles, all that was left was bare bones, both brothers cleaned the bowls completely, including the soup. Even the plate of vegetables was almost empty.
"Comforting, too comforting." Kongkong relaxed on the backrest with a satisfied expression.
Hep Benn sat down next to Kongkong and said, "When will you be able to come back to work?"
Kongkong looked at his elder brother sitting across him.
Dangdang said, "It might take some time. The selection competition we’re participating in is rather complex, if we make it to the rematch, there might be numerous matches ahead."
Kongkong looked at his brother and then Hep Benn seated at his side, instantly revealing a grimace.
If it were before, he would have given up on participating in the hunting team selection competition. What’s so good about the demon hunting team? Isn’t it better to accompany the goddess every day? But now, it’s different, he was constantly on tenterhooks, he had to protect his elder brother! He could not let his elder brother sacrifice for him every time. But now, not only the current selection but if he entered the demon hunting team afterward, could he still work at the rib shop?
Thinking this way, Kongkong’s eyes dimmed instantly. He dared not to look at Hep Benn, worried he would lose his determination.
"Alright, then. You both should keep fighting." Hep Benn said with a smile.
"Mm, thanks." Dangdang nodded.
Hep Benn gently nudged Kongkong who was next to her, "What’s up?"
"Ah?" Kongkong lifted his head, looking troubled, "Sister, I am thinking, if I pass this selection competition, I would probably get busier later, I am not even sure if I could stay in the Holy City."
Hep Benn paused, then softly said, "You have to become a capable and upright man first! Then, you can protect whoever you want to."
Kongkong’s loyalty didn’t waver for an instant. "I will surely protect you."
Hep Benn glanced at Dangdang sitting across her, she huffed lightly, "Who asked for your protection?"
Kongkong stated matter-of-factly, "Didn’t you say to protect the ones I want to? You are the one I want to protect the most!"
Hep Benn’s pretty face turned slightly red, "Anyway, you just need to do what you’re supposed to."
Kongkong nodded repeatedly, "Alright, alright. Brother, why don’t you go back first? I will help Hep Benn clean up the shop and then return."
Dangdang thought to himself, is he trying to get rid of me because I’m in the way?
"Okay! Then, I will leave first." He said goodbye to Hep Benn and left the ribs shop first.
"There isn’t much to clean. You can also go back with your brother." Hep Benn murmured.
Kongkong laughed, "It’s alright, I can clean thoroughly. That way, I can watch you longer! You just sit here, if you need anything, you can ask me." Saying this, he happily began the deep cleaning. The him right now was nothing like he was when he was in the competition.
Sticking around another two hours, it wasn’t until Father Hep woke up from his noon nap that Kongkong reluctantly left the ribs shop to return to the academy.
As he exited Hep’s Ribs Shop, he felt full of contentment. Seeing the goddess was pure happiness! He made up his mind that if he truly got into the demon hunting team, he would find a way to stay in the Holy City with his brother so he could see the goddess often.
Yes, let’s do it like that. His mood had picked up again. He was always good at cheering himself up, he believed his brother would support him.
"Watch out." The hurried voice suddenly arose in his mind without warning. As Kongkong was gleefully lost in thought, everything around him twisted, a faint green mist arose and seemed to transport him into another world.
Within the green mist, a figure walked slowly towards him. She was not fast-moving, but with every step she took, Kongkong’s heart skipped a beat, and his face instantly paled.
"Who are you?"
