Chapter 235 - 116: The Unreliable Whang Kuaile_2

Chapter 235: Chapter 116: The Unreliable Whang Kuaile_2

The fleeting red color represents ruthlessness!

So, adding up the three colors signifies that Long Kongkong’s blood-contracted magical beast is an exceedingly ruthless, same-tribe overlord-level existence possessing tenth-rank talent.

"Good!"

"Pretty impressive!"

Both Na Ye and Whang Kuaile exclaimed almost simultaneously.

But Long Kongkong didn’t think much of it. He wailed, "A mouse with some talent and a dragon with some talent are different things. I wanted to be a Dragon Knight, not a Rat Knight."

Na Ye retorted indignantly, "You know nothing. What’s wrong with being a Rat Knight? As long as you’re strong enough, even being a Cockroach Knight doesn’t matter. There’s a saying: "Every occupation produces its own leading figures." So, why can’t a mouse become a strong one? And plus, Rat Knights aren’t as ostentatious as Dragon Knights, which I think is good."

This was the first time someone positively appraised the meaning of a Rat Knight. As Long Kongkong looked at his teacher, he couldn’t help but feel a bit moved.

"Let it come out and let us take a look." said Whang Kuaile.

Long Kongkong immediately sent a call to the contract space, but it was useless. The Sky Devouring Rodent simply ignored him.

"Come out, Foodie!" Long Kongkong yelled into the contract space.

No response!

Whang Kuaile suggested, "Try to force it out by using your blood pact."

Long Kongkong tried, but to no avail. Through the blood pact, he could contact the Sky-Devouring Rodent, but it seemed he had no control over it. This was unlike when it tried attacking him and the blood pact was directly stimulated.

"Seems like it’s not working."

Whang Kuaile said in surprise, "Resisting the blood pact to a certain extent. It’s getting more impressive. Your pet seems to have quite a temper, and seems very unhappy about failing to reverse the bloodline judgement!"

Long Kongkong asked, "What if it had succeeded in reversing the bloodline judgement?"

Whang Kuaile responded, "What else? You would have become its slave and it could kill you anytime."

Recalling what the giant rat said when it first appeared, Long Kongkong shivered and then became furious, "This thing tried to harm me? Roast it, it must be roasted. Uncle Kuaile, get it out here. We’ll have a feast; its body is large, and there should be plenty of meat."

"I’ll do it, I’ll do it!" As soon as he heard this, Whang Kuaile got excited. He stood in front of Long Kongkong’s contract space, reached out, straight into the portal, and began to rummage around.

"Ouch!" Before he could even get started, Whang Kuaile screamed in pain, quickly withdrawing his hand.

Two of his robust fingers had been bitten, and golden-red blood started gushing out immediately.

Then, a voice from the giant rat came from the contract space, "Hey fatso, you want to eat me? Don’t you know my talent is eating? Just wait, wait till I revive my power. You’ll be the first one I’ll eat."

Whang Kuaile turned to look at Na Ye, his chubby face showing an expression of grievance, "It bit me, Old Coward."

"You deserve it. You want to eat them, so why wouldn’t they bite you?" Even though Na Ye said this, he was stunned inside.

No matter how unreliable Whang Kuaile could be, he was still a Tenth-Rank dragon species. Even if he was considered at the bottom of the dragon species, the defense mechanisms inherent to dragons were hard to breach. The fact that a beast of the same cultivation level as Long Kongkong could pierce his skin spoke volumes about the extraordinary nature of the Sky Devouring Rodent.

Na Ye quickly gave Long Kongkong a wink. As master and student for several years, they shared a certain tacit understanding. Long Kongkong chuckled and said, "Uncle Kuaile, don’t make a fuss. We were just joking with Foodie. Foodie, Uncle Kuaile is our senior. You should respect him! I’ll take you to enjoy some delicious food later. You rest for now!" As he spoke, he quickly closed the contract space.

"Who’s joking? I clearly want to eat it, and it wants to eat me. It’s driving me crazy." Whang Kuaile expressed his frustration.

Na Ye helplessly said, "You should go back too, continue sleeping. Lack of sleep will make you lose weight."

Whang Kuaile blinked, "Yeah! I’ll go back then. Kongkong, Uncle Kuaile will play with you later. If there’s anything delicious, remember to call me. If that big rat appears, call me too. I’m the best at barbecuing. See ya!" While talking, he opened the portal of the contract space and squeezed back in.

Once Whang Kuaile left, only the master and apprentice were left in the room.

"Master, did you infect me somehow? That I ended up with an unreliable mount?" Long Kongkong couldn’t help but snark.

Na Ye slapped him on the head, "Who’s unreliable? Your Uncle Kuaile is a standout amongst the dragon tribe, a legend in his own time." As he said this, he gave a look.

Immediately, Long Kongkong comprehended that Whang Kuaile could hear everything, so he hastily said, "Being unreliable is good! The more unconventional represents greater ability, right?"

Na Ye nodded in satisfaction, "That’s right!"

Long Kongkong said, "So what should I do about my Sky Devouring Rodent?"

Na Ye sighed, "Since you can’t control it even with the blood pact, all you can do is communicate with it. Find its weaknesses and cater to its interests."

Long Kongkong continued, "So food then. That guy really likes to eat, and it seems to work a bit when I use food to threaten it."

Na Ye’s eyes lit up, "Then you’ve found what it loves to eat. Make it addicted, and it will naturally listen to you. Then try to find out its abilities, think of ways to make it listen to you, and assist you in battle."

Long Kongkong interrupted, "Master, Uncle Kuaile doesn’t quite listen to you, does he?"

Na Ye glared, "Can we even compare? Uncle Kuaile and I have an equal contract, who’s listening to whom? And furthermore, Uncle Kuaile is quite cautious and detests violence, just like me."

A pair of cowardly knights and dragons? Long Kongkong’s understanding of the term ’unreliable’ was growing day by day.

"Master, there’s something else. The selection for the demon hunting team is starting soon. I want to join the same team with my brother, but I’m afraid I can’t even pass the preliminary round now. What should I do?"

Na Ye frowned, "Isn’t it too early? You’re still too weak and not fit for the demon hunting team. Continue your cultivation for a few more years. Your brother’s cultivation level is moderate, he should be at the 5th Rank now. But even qualifying for the preliminaries won’t be easy. After all, the competition is older and all are prodigies."

"That’s not acceptable. My brother, cousin and I, our team ranked first in the internal assessment at the Spirit Furnace Academy. Why can’t we form a demon hunting team?" Long Kongkong said somewhat proudly.

"First in the Spirit Furnace Academy’s assessment, does that include you?" Na Ye looked at him in surprise.

"Master, you probably aren’t aware of how much I’ve grown recently. I have the Wisdom Spirit Furnace now, I’m also a reserve Sacred Legate at the Knights Temple. Isn’t my rank higher than yours now?" Long Kongkong bragged as he confidently presented his reserve Sacred Legate’s badge.

Na Ye stared dumbfounded at the badge handed to him and immediately recognized its credibility.

A reserve Sacred Legate? Is it rare? Of course it’s rare! In the whole Knights Temple, there are only about ten reserve Sacred Legates. All are extraordinary individuals because only those with the potential to become Sacred Legates in the future are granted this badge. They’re all heavily nurtured by the Knights Temple.

Na Ye himself had a similar badge, which was awarded to him by the Knights Temple when he got Whang Kuaile as his dragon mount. But as Whang Kuaile showed his unreliability, his status as a reserve Sacred Legate gradually faded. Although he still became a divine knight, becoming a Sacred Legate seemed out of reach now.

That Long Kongkong also became a reserve Sacred Legate, especially before he got his mount, was an entirely different story!

"Wisdom Spirit Furnace? Which wise deity has taken a fancy to you? Don’t tell me it’s also unreliable?" Na Ye blurted out involuntarily.

Just then, a golden light surged, and a golden figure appeared in front of Long Kongkong, "Hello, I am Small Tree!"
