Chapter 177: Chapter 88 Real Combat Assessment_1

"Wait, wait!" Long Kongkong grabbed Hep Benn’s arm as she was about to walk away. "Are you saying the boy who just walked you home is your relative?"

Hep Benn replied indifferently, "My cousin walks me home every day. You just happened to see him for the first time. It’s a bit of a distance from the school to my house, and my dad doesn’t feel safe letting me walk alone."

In an instant, Long Kongkong felt as if an invisible force surged up from his spine, pierced through his brain, and revived him completely. He blinked his eyes, "Oh, so that’s how it is!"

"Move aside, I need to go home. My dad is waiting for me for dinner." Hep Benn tried to pull her arm from his grasp.

"I apologize, goddess!" Long Kongkong said with a guilty smile, "What if I don’t quit? Can I walk you home instead? Tell me where your school is. I will take you there in the mornings and pick you up in the evenings."

"I thought you were quitting! I thought you were leaving! Why do you want to pick me up and drop me off? What are you to me? Why should I let you walk me around?" Hep Benn asked with a stern face.

"I was wrong, goddess. I admit that seeing you laughing and chatting with someone else made me a bit jealous. It was unbearable to watch my dream girl go home with someone else. I felt a pain in my heart. See for yourself," he said, pulling Hep Benn’s hand to his chest.

Hep Benn’s face turned slightly red, and she quickly pulled her hand back. "So without even asking, you were going to quit, you were going to leave? And you say you like me? Is your liking so fickle? Can’t you even get the facts straight? Your affection is so simple. Get out of my way, I don’t need you to like me. Humph!"

"Can’t I admit that I was wrong again? Look at the gift I got for you. I handpicked it. For the sake of the gift, can you forgive me just this once? It will never happen again."

Hep Benn glanced at the elegantly wrapped gift box in her hand and then at him. "So you’re truly not quitting?"

"Yes, yes, yes, I won’t quit. I have to stay with my goddess!" said Long Kongkong, bobbing his head like a pecking chick.

Hep Benn asked, "Why are you giving me a gift then?"

Long Kongkong said with a smile, "I didn’t know about your birthday last time, so this is to make up for your birthday gift."

Hep Benn said, "You already gave me a birthday gift. I really liked it." Her voice unconsciously softened.

Long Kongkong said, "It’s not the same. That birthday gift couldn’t be seen or touched. If ever I’m not around, you won’t have anything to remember me by. With this, you will think of me whenever you see it. Isn’t that great?"

"Just open it and see!" Long Kongkong urged.

Hep Benn glared at him but carefully unwrapped the package to reveal a blue velvet box.

She took another look at him before opening the box. When she saw the ruby necklace inside, she paused in surprise, "This, this is too expensive."

Long Kongkong smiled with some pride, "I was a top student at school. I bought this with my scholarship. I don’t usually spend much, so when I saw that this looked nice today, I bought it. We students of Temple Academy get a big discount, so it wasn’t too expensive. Do you want to try it on?" He had thought out this explanation long ago.

Hep Benn handed the box back to him, "No, it’s too valuable. I can’t take it."

Long Kongkong didn’t take it, "Then who should I give it to? Sale items are non-refundable. Come on, let me help you put it on." He said as he took the necklace out of the box with great care.

Hep Benn looked at him, her beautiful eyes swirling with emotion, "Kongkong, I appreciate your sentiment, but this is really too expensive. I really can’t accept it." As she said this, she stopped Long Kongkong’s hand that was about to put the necklace around her neck.

Long Kongkong said helplessly, "So what should I do now? I can’t return it."

Hep Benn said, "You can keep it for now! When you grow up and have a girlfriend, give it to her."

Long Kongkong laughed and said, "That works too. Since my girlfriend can only be you. How about this, you keep it for now. In the future, if you become my girlfriend, it will naturally be yours. If you fall in love with someone else, you can return it to me?"

Hep Benn scolded, "Who are you talking about falling in love with someone else? Wait, no. I’m not in love with you. Don’t try to entrap me with your words."

Suddenly, Long Kongkong looked toward the left in surprise, "Eh, your cousin is back?"

Hep Benn followed his gaze instinctively. Just at that moment, Long Kongkong slid behind her and deftly clasped the necklace around her neck.

"Alright, let’s keep it in your custody." He said, letting go and sliding back in front of Hep Benn.

The silver white platinum necklace with a small diamond encircled the fiery red ruby, stunningly complementing Hep Benn’s pure white school uniform. The whole scene was incredibly gorgeous, as if her innocent and tender features were illuminated with an unusual temperament. Long Kongkong was awestruck watching this.

"Oh my! You...." Hep Benn glared at him indignantly.

Long Kongkong said seriously, "Sister Hep, this is meant for you and can never be given to anyone else. So, whether you accept it or not, it’s yours. I’m looking forward to the day you agree to be my girlfriend. Alright, I should get going now. We have an assessment tomorrow."
