Chapter 175: Chapter 87: I Approved Your Resignation!_1
The salesgirl was a sweet-faced young woman, about twenty years old. Although she could see that Long Kongkong was quite young, she didn’t look down on him. Instead, she flashed him a sweet smile, "Welcome to Fengxiang Jewelry Store. Please wait a moment while I bring it over for you to examine."
As she spoke, she brought both the necklace and the mannequin model up to the counter.
"This necklace is named ’Love Thought’. The ruby is of the highest quality, cut in an oval formation to bring out its fiery color. The necklace is forged in white gold, with diamonds studding the perimeter of the ruby to highlight its radiance. The gemstone weighs two carats. The total cost is 120 gold coins."
"What? That expensive?" Long Kongkong was startled.
The necklace was very beautiful, and even more so up close. The ruby was a perfect red, with a faint golden sheen under different angles; intensely radiant.
"Could you perhaps give me a discount?" Long Kongkong asked cheerfully.
"We never skimp on the quality of our jewelry, so we can’t really offer discounts," the salesgirl explained, looking a little troubled. "Oh, if you are a professionist and have a 3rd rank or higher professionist certificate, we can give you a 10% discount. This is our way of showing respect to the Temple."
Long Kongkong’s eyes lit up. "So I can get a discount if I have a relationship with the Temple? What if I have a higher rank? Would I get a bigger discount?"
The salesgirl smiled. "That would depend on just how high rank you are." As she looked at him as if he were still a child, she believed it to be unlikely that he could have a high rank. If she didn’t find him so attractive, she probably wouldn’t have been this talkative. In her eyes, this was just an adolescent boy with a crush, trying to buy a gift for a girl he liked. Yet, considering his audacity in looking at such expensive jewelry struck her as quite bold.
With a casual air, Long Kongkong asked, "Then, check out these. See if you can give me any more discount." While speaking, a flash of light emanated from his Space Ring and he passed over several cards he had summoned from it.
Seeing the shining Space Ring on his hand, the salesgirl was stunned, her smile transforming.
Space equipment! This was Space equipment! The casual, handsome boy she was entertaining had suddenly moved up a few notches in her estimations. Anyone his age using such equipment couldn’t possibly be average. He had to be a professionist and his family extremely wealthy.
And when she saw the cards Long Kongkong handed over to her, her surprise turned to shock.
She couldn’t fully recognize the cards, but she sensed their extravagance from the colorful aura each one emitted.
The cards displayed by Long Kongkong included a black gold card from the Holy City Grand Auction Hall, a VIP card from the Grand Coliseum, and a VIP card from the library. He didn’t bother using the two from the military and Temple law enforcement team. As adventurous as he was, he wasn’t stupid.
"Please wait a moment. I will call the manager." The salesgirl started addressing him with respect, then quickly disappeared into the back.
In less than a minute, a middle-aged man appeared behind the counter, led over by the salesgirl.
The salesgirl didn’t know the worth of the cards, she only knew they were impressive. But the manager instantly adopted a more respectful demeanor as soon as he spotted the black gold card in Long Kongkong’s hand.
A black gold card; a symbol of the elite status only granted to the Holy City Grand Auction Hall’s VIPs! This was now the second-highest tier, regardless of the slightly higher purple gold card. This is something only important people could possess, even money couldn’t necessarily buy it.
When such a card appeared in the hands of a teenager, the reasonable conclusion was that it had been stolen from home. But even if it was stolen, it would still require his family to possess it in the first place. What was this family?
With a nod towards the necklace displayed in front of him, Long Kongkong said, "I like this necklace. Now, based on these cards of mine, how big of a discount can you offer? Perhaps a 90% one?"
"Please allow me to take a moment to inspect these," the store manager said respectfully as he took the three offered cards. He scrutinized each one, confirmed they were all genuine, and then looked at Long Kongkong with even greater eagerness.
"Sir, these cards certainly hold remarkable backgrounds, especially the black gold VIP card from the Grand Auction Hall. However, these cards do not serve as currency in our store. At the Grand Auction Hall, however, you can bid without a deposit with this. How about this, I’ll offer you a 20% discount on the necklace, this is the largest concession I can make."
"A 20% discount, huh..." Long Kongkong puckered his lips. That would still cost him 96 gold coins, which he didn’t have. If he did, he wouldn’t be haggling; he’d just buy it.
"Temple professionists can get discounts. Is my black gold card worth less than a Temple professionist?" Long Kongkong questioned grudgingly.
"Not really. The Temple is considered our human’s Protector deity, and moreover, this store is actually a subsidiary business of the Temple. If you held a position with the Temple, you could ask for even more discounts through your sacred office. But we cannot offer any other concessions."
Long Kongkong was immediately disheartened. Would he have to go back and ask his elder brother for money? And his brother was in cultivation, besides, it did not seem realistic, and he doubted his brother would hand over his entire line of credit. He at least understood that much.
A position in the Temple will get a discount?
All of a sudden, an idea flashed in his mind. He hesitated before he took out a token from his storage ring and held it in his hand, "Then, you tell me, can this get me a 90% discount?"
