Chapter 123 - 123 61 Celestial Abyss Domain_1
Chapter 123: Chapter 61 Celestial Abyss Domain_1 Chapter 123: Chapter 61 Celestial Abyss Domain_1 Long Kongkong rapidly considered his options as he watched the feisty soldiers in front of him. How could he resolve the situation without arousing Hep Benn’s suspicion?
He would be hard-pressed to beat them; they were 7th Rank Warrior Kings!
Suddenly, an idea sprouted in Long Kongkong’s mind. With a wide grin, he stepped forward and slung his arm around the leader of the bunch. “So, you fine gentlemen are the cream of the crop at the Warriors Temple. It’s our humble restaurant’s honor to serve you! Why don’t I shout this round? Let’s consider it a small token of our newfound friendship.”
The 7th Rank Warrior King hadn’t expected a mere shop hand to be so brash amid news of his high rank, and even forgot to shrug off Long Kongkong’s arm. It was at that moment that he and his crew noticed a peculiar glow – gentle, yet compelling, subtly implying a complex structure – emerging from Long Kongkong’s chest, causing their eyes to bulge in surprise.
Long Kongkong put his finger to his lips signaling for silence, but said aloud: “Gentlemen, I too attended the Temple Academy’s Knights Branch. Knights and warriors are both close-combat classes, aren’t they? It’s my honor to cross paths with you esteemed figures. So, please, allow me to treat you today!”
The soldiers exchanged awkward glances, their embarrassment evident on their faces. Even the 7th Rank Warrior King did not attempt to peel away Long Kongkong’s arm.
A spirit furnace! That was a spirit furnace!
They were all familiar with a spirit furnace!
Regardless of their respective temples, one who possessed a spirit furnace would undoubtedly be recognized as a prodigy. Even more so when Long Kongkong appeared to be only in his teens. Even a fool would know his background wasn’t ordinary.
A tense moment of awkwardness ensued.
Applying a tad more force, Long Kongkong, almost forcing the Warrior King to sit, said, “One moment, brother. Our prized rib rice is truly unparalleled. I’ll serve it right up. Please make yourself at home.”
Having said this, he finally released his hold and turned towards Hep Benn, whose face was pale. He casually took her arm and led her towards the back.
Only then did Hep Benn seem to breathe a sigh of relief, as Long Kongkong led her all the way to the back kitchen.
“Boss, four servings of rib rice, please!” Long Kongkong hollered at the back.
“Alrighty,” Father Hep replied.
Only then did Long Kongkong whisper to Hep Benn, “You stay here, leave the front to me.”
“But, they seem like bad people,” Hep Benn whispered back, her lovely face growing somehow paler yet.
Long Kongkong reached out and gently patted her on the shoulder, “Trust me, I’ve got this. As long as I’m here, no one will dare to harm my goddess.” And with that, he was on his way back.
The tables at Hep’s Ribs Shop weren’t big – they only had room for four at a time. Long Kongkong simply dragged a chair next to the soldiers’ table and sat down beside them.
Looking at the knights with a grin, the leading 7th Rank Warrior King asked in a low voice, “Young man, are you from the Knights Temple’s Main Hall? About today’s incident…”
Long Kongkong laughed, “Misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding. I understand. I’m not from the Main Hall. I’m from…” He stopped short and discreetly produced his insignia from Spirit Furnace Academy, his body shielding his movements from the kitchen’s view, and flashed it at the soldiers.
The soldiers’ faces changed instantly. A spirit furnace and an insignia; those couldn’t be fake.
“We should go then,” the Warrior King, looking a bit pale now, suggested.
“No! It was agreed that this meal was on me! Our rib rice is really good. Of course, you gentlemen, considering your age, must feel awkward letting me treat. If you are happy to pay a bit more, our shop would be more than grateful.”
The warriors’ expressions grew strange. They knew all too well what the Spirit Furnace Academy signified. The teenager in front of them might not match their strength, but his standing within the Temple was far beyond their reach. The Spirit Furnace Academy, that was where the monstrous talents are cultivated with almost all Sacred Legates emerging from there.
“Kongkong, come take the dishes,” Father Hep’s voice echoed from the back.
Long Kongkong stood up and moved his chair back. He gave the soldiers a smile before heading back to the kitchen.
The delightful aroma of rib rice was soon wafting before the soldiers.
“Enjoy, gentlemen! Our ribs are tender and full of flavor, it’s incredibly tasty.”
The soldiers finished quickly, the Warrior King being the first one to stand up. He coughed lightly, “The food is indeed delicious. Good job, young man. Thank you. May I know your name?”
Long Kongkong thumped his chest and replied cheerfully, “In the spirit of transparency, I’m Long Kongkong.”
The Warrior King nodded, “We’ll come visit you again when we get the chance. A man of our age can’t let a youngster pick up the tab. The rib rice indeed tasted great. Here’s for the food. We’ll be taking our leave now. Don’t take our earlier misunderstanding to heart. If you ever need us brothers, just say the word.” He then laid down a coin, gestured his comrades and left.
When they were out of sight, Hep Benn was quick to run out from the back, closely followed by Father Hep.
“Kongkong, are you alright?” Hep Benn rushed to his side, letting out a sigh of relief when she saw he was fine and dandy.
