Chapter 224: Chapter – 203 – Secondary Defense Meeting & Subtle Backup
Josephine’s Point Of View
"Alright people, let’s skip the introductions and small talk, and get straight to the matter at hand." I said, addressing everyone in the room.
The current adults in attendance were: Odessa, Meahlene, Dr. Kahlil, Dr. Khali, her mate Chavrion, Justine, her mate Ahtlan, Solomon, Jasper, Rohlander, Soona, myself, and Dehzmar. Dehzmar was a newcomer from Sîvret’s faction.
Nahana and Dr. Stellah had decided to stay behind, and defend the house with Ferdinand and the others. So they were attending via video call.
Not long after Arellany was born, the Doctors had decided to return to their clinic. Since it was also located in StohneGarrdin, it wasn’t exactly detrimental to the household as a whole. They had promised to study everyone’s genetics, and happily made house calls whenever necessary.
Unfortunately, due to the chaotic situation we had suddenly been thrust into, Dr. Kahlil and Dr. Khali had agreed to stay with the non-combatants, for safety’s sake. They even went as far as to send Grahnt, and Anthonee to the mansion as well. They were apparently military medically certified, trained in both the combat and medical trauma fields.
"While we do have momentary comfort staying in this makeshift safe house, there is no way we can rest on our laurels, and become complacent. We’ll be the ones who work in that shadows. Gain intelligence, track they’re movements, maintain the peace, and most importantly, protect our family... No matter the cost." I said sternly.
"We set up a small office here as well. We don’t have nearly as much here, as we did back at the mansion, but we’ll be able to function during emergency situations... Baring any critical surgeries... Those supplies are extremely limited at the moment." Kahlil informed us.
"Some of the guys are looking into getting you more supplies. I’m sure they will deliver them as soon as possible." Nahana said.
"I’ve been keeping tabs on both Chazmen and Shaihffer. Everything that I’ve found, leads me to believe that Tristan is not their only objective. I find it hard to believe that they will settle for his sole capture." I said.
Honestly, all the information that I had uncovered in the last 6 years was so disjointed, that it seemed like the brothers were working separately from each other. They each had a common goal of capturing the ’Special Delgaide Omegas’. However, their actions betrayed their personal aspirations.
Shaihffer seemed to be acting in the shadows, and aiding an unsettling government facility. Meanwhile, Chazmen seemed entirely focused on revenge, Tristan’s genome, and his reproductive capabilities.
"Oho? Do tell. What is it that you’ve found?" Kahlil asked leaning forward, clearly interested.
"Even though they appear to be working in unison, under the surface they both have separate agendas. I fear the upcoming confrontation, more than anything else." I replied.
"Why is that?" Meahlene asked.
"In the event that they successfully infiltrate the mansion, they could find a treasure trove of information about everyone who lives under that roof. If they find out about Arellany, I’m positive that they will become extremely aggressive going forward, regardless of their victory or defeat." I said.
Immediately, everyone tensed up, and a stir ran through the room. I was more shocked that none of them had even considered that possibility.
Nahana’s face hardened, her eyes grew brighter, and began to swirl with an intense hatred... of everything.
"I will inform the boys, and have them conceal any potentially problematic information at once. Under no circumstances should we allow the enemy to obtain, or even glimpse that information." Nahana said through clenched teeth.
"In your opinion Josephine, which brother do you consider to be more dangerous?" Odessa asked.
"Shaihffer, without a doubt. Though my memory is fairly limited, his personal dabbling into a specific facility is incredibly disconcerting." I replied.
"Why?" Justine asked, taking more interest in this information than anything else.
"Though the name of the facility was rarely mentioned, the research they conducted is a potential problem. That facility was a subdivision of our facility in Delgaide. Their direct focus was creating infallible Alphas, instead of Omegas. Ones who could circumvent the unknown sterilization crisis, that’s currently plaguing the Alpha population."
I paused for a moment, noticing the increasing shock on everyone’s faces. What I was about to say next would not be welcomed news. However, I had no choice but to divulge what I knew.
"To my knowledge," I continued, "back before Tristan had come of age, they had allegedly created said Alphas. Maybelline had grumbled about how they had piggy-backed off her notes about Tristan. This betrayal led to her locking away her more detailed notes, and serving the director redacted, mundane updates about Tristan’s genetic developments."
"What makes this specific facility such a problem?" Dr. Khali asked.
She was quick on the uptake, and it warmed my heart to know that this room was filled with intelligent, yet wary minds. I couldn’t help but feel relieved to call such competent people my family. fre.eweb novel\.c om
"There was one day in particular, that stands out clearly in my memory... It was the first time I’d ever seen Maybelline so pissed off, in all our time together. She was a genuine Mad Scientist, but in the way that alters the common sense spectrum." I sighed, thinking back to my crazy friend.
We had both been Omegas taken from the street, and we had also been cast aside by our proud Alpha parents. Misery was something we shared, and bonded through.
"May and Seraphine were two total opposites, and yet they were like one side of the same coin. Their friendship brought about Tristan’s birth, and the secrets that came with him. Needless to say they both loved and adored Tristan, but for two separate reasons."
I continued, "On that fateful day, May came back to our living quarters in a maddening pique. The director had apparently gone behind her back and introduced a young alpha to Tristan. Due to this secret meeting, Tristan’s genetic makeup had altered considerably...."
In hindsight I had just let Maybelline rant to relieve some built up stress and anger, however, now her screams had taken on an eerie haunted tone.
Delgaide’s facility had been leaking Maybelline’s studies and findings to their collaborative sister company, from which they found it much easier to create infallible Alphas, rather than Omegas.
"From what I could understand, the Alpha that they introduced to Tristan had imprinted on Tristan. Making Tristan extremely susceptible to said Alpha’s pheromones. The next day, the director ignorantly assumed that he had gotten one over on Maybelline, and openly bragged about his treachery. She had run the usual blood work on Tristan, only to discover that his genome had taken on a severely aggressive structure. Turns out that that fateful encounter is the reason why Tristan can take multiple mates. It’s also the reason why his pheromones still have an effect on others, even after being mated..." I sighed heavily.
"And the young Alpha?" Rohlander queried.
I squeezed my eyes shut, and let out another heavy sigh.
"At the time, I was more concerned with Tristan and the kids. So I put him out of my mind readily, especially since he never met Tristan again. However, during my recent investigation, I discovered that the Alpha was still in that facility, and suffering horribly. Due to the aggressive change in Tristan’s genome, the imprinting was completely one-sided. He becomes enraged when exposed to the pheromones of any other Omegas. His ruts are irregular, aggressive, and indiscriminate. Most concerning of all, his genetic makeup is deteriorating due to the lengthy separation from Tristan..." I concluded.
The silence in the room was deafening. I had some extreme concerns about how Shaihffer would use that Alpha against us, and it was clear that I wasn’t the only one.
"Do you think Tristan still remembers that Alpha?" Jasper asked, nervously.
"I highly doubt it, considering how long ago their meeting was, and how one-sided the attachment became." I replied.
"Do you think that Alpha’s pheromones could had a critical effect on Tristan?" Nahana asked.
"Tristan is easy affected and swayed by Alpha pheromones regardless, no?" I replied.
"What she meant was, do you think his body will reject the pheromones now that he’s mated? Or will it subconsciously accept them unknowingly?" Dr. Stellah added.
"It’s impossible to know that until it happens..." I sighed, solemnly.
My reply did nothing to ease the worries and concerns swirling about the attendants in the room.
"This I certainly a problem that the boys need to be briefed on. Maybe we can have Meyhymn look into it further. I think this information is more critical than anything else..." Nahana said.
"Agreed. If they bring that bastard to the mansion to lure Tristan out, there’s honestly no telling what might happen. It could be inconsequential, or it could flip their defensive strategy on its head." Meahlene said.
’I just hope that the worst-case scenario doesn’t happen...’
