Chapter 579: Chapter 386: The Sudden Urgent News
Oscar Knight was thoroughly beaten by his father, Mark Knight.
He couldn’t get out of bed for three days.
Even though Sean downplayed the rescue process, both Ralph Knight and Mark Knight were adults and had experienced a lot, so how could they not know how dangerous it could be to be kidnapped abroad?
"Sean, when your friends come over, we must express our gratitude to them properly," Mark Knight sincerely said. "If it weren’t for them, your brother might not have made it back this time."
As for their son Sean, their current impression is mainly his ability to discover treasure and make money.
They don’t know how powerful Sean is now.
So in the eyes of the Knight family, the main credit for rescuing Oscar should go to Elijah Hastings and the others.
Sean didn’t mind them misunderstanding, after all, even the best swimmer can drown. If his family knew how powerful he’d become, and experiencing such incidents frequently, they would be even more worried.
Then, the Knights stared at the pile of bones on the table, somewhat dazed.
"Mark, go close the front door!" Ralph Knight was the quickest to react, "we can’t let anyone know about this!"
Mark Knight came to his senses and immediately went out to close the door to the courtyard.
"Sean, are these really tiger bones?" Sean’s mother, Nancy Knight, carefully picked up a piece of bone and asked.
She couldn’t help but sniff it, and the smell from the bone made her frown. Then she threw the piece of bone back on the table.
"They’re real," Sean nodded. "I heard that these are good for making wine..."
"They’re good for making wine!" Ralph Knight agreed. "But you need the right recipe. Years ago, tiger bone wine was sold in pharmacies. Then tigers became protected animals, and that stuff disappeared."
Sean continued:
"I looked it up, and tiger bone wine has the effects of dispelling wind and dampness, dispersing cold and dredging meridians, and strengthening tendons and bones. It’s suitable for older people suffering from rheumatism or heavy colds in the body. This stuff works well for health care."
Mark Knight came in from outside and, after hearing Sean’s words, said:
"Send a few pieces over to your grandfather and ask him if he has any recipes in this area. It should be helpful since his legs and feet aren’t very good."
"That’s a good idea!" Ralph Knight nodded. "Sean, take a few tiger bones over tomorrow...but remember to be discreet and don’t alert anyone."
"Okay, I got it." Sean nodded.
Ralph Knight added, "Nancy, you collect these bones. Tomorrow, pick a few large bones for Sean to take, preferably leg bones..."
With him saying such words, Nancy was naturally happy and agreed as she went into the kitchen for other things.
Just then, the sound of the front gate opening could be heard, and the voice of their neighbor, Gerald, came from the courtyard:
"Why close the door in broad daylight? Are you hiding something good from us?"
Sean had already gone out to greet him, smiling and saying:
"Not at all. The wind must have blown on the door? Gerald, didn’t you have work to do today?"
"I heard you were back, so I came over for a visit and ask you about something."
"Come in and sit down," Sean invited him inside.
"No need to go in, it’s nice and cool under this grape trellis." Gerald’s house was diagonally across from Sean’s, not too far away. Gerald liked to chat with neighbors, and he knew everyone’s business.
However, he was a warm-hearted person, always willing to help neighbors with whatever they needed, so no one found him annoying.
"Then sit down, I’ll bring you a glass of water," Sean said.
At this point, Mark Knight came out, smiling and saying:
"Gerald’s here."
"Yes, Uncle," Gerald quickly stood up. "No fishing today?"
"No, it’s too hot. I’ll go in the afternoon."
Since joining the cooperative, the Knight family had almost no farm work left. They occasionally worked part-time for the cooperative and mostly tended to their vegetable garden or went fishing.
"I just wanted to chat with Sean about something," Gerald smiled.
Sean had already brought the water cup out, and Mark Knight continued, "You guys go ahead and talk, I’ll go for a walk."
One of the reasons Gerald could chat with Sean like this was because they used to hang out in the village. Although Sean had now become wealthy, he hadn’t left the village, and his attitude toward the villagers was roughly the same as before, so the villagers didn’t treat him as an unapproachable figure.
Sean enjoyed this situation. It would have been worse if his newfound wealth had alienated him from the villagers.
After all, how to live his life is up to him. He doesn’t need to worry about everyone else’s opinions, so of course, he wants to do what makes him happy.
"Where’s your brother?" Gerald asked, taking a sip of water.
"He’s not feeling well, lying in bed," Sean replied.
The fact that Oscar was kidnapped abroad was not publicized by the Knight family. Although they told the auxiliary police, that side did not spread the news because it involved sensitive matters.
The villagers were unaware, only knowing that Oscar had been away for a while and had returned with Sean.
As for the Knights’ second son, who often went out and came back once every three months or half a year, the villagers were already used to it.
It’s normal for someone doing big things to be out all the time.
"So I just want to tell you about it." Gerald took a sip of water and continued:
"Actually, I want to buy a metal detector."
"What for?" Sean had already guessed Gerald’s intention, but he still asked carefully.
