Chapter 568: Chapter 381: Ugly Looking, Wishful Thinking!
Before Sean could dial, his mobile phone rang.
"Are you there?" The gloomy voice on the other end made Sean feel uncomfortable.
"We’re here. Where are you? How’s my brother now?" Sean asked.
"Did you bring the money?"
"Yes."
"Looking at your backpacks, they can’t fit five million dollars."
"We brought some gold. US dollars in cash are hard to store, and it’s too hard to pass through customs." Sean had already thought of a reason. "We’re carrying a million dollars in cash in our bags, and tens of kilograms of gold."
"Alright, now walk fifty meters ahead from the highway, there’s a small road leading up the mountain."
The other party was apparently at a high point, able to see Sean and his group, and was directing them.
Sean and the others were not unprepared, Elijah and Douglas both moved around Sean in small, irregular steps to block any potential bullets.
Meanwhile, Sean himself unleashed his senses, searching for any possible danger.
Luckily, he didn’t feel any danger in his premonitions.
Sean didn’t hang up the phone but spoke firmly:
"I want to hear my brother’s voice. Otherwise, I won’t go."
Upon hearing the resolve in Sean’s voice, the other party hesitated before saying:
"Wait."
After a while, hurried but somewhat weak breathing sounds came through the mobile phone, followed by Oscar’s voice:
"Sean, is that you?"
Sean could tell that it didn’t sound like a recording and said:
"Bro, it’s me. I’ll be there to save you soon... Are you alone?"
"No, William Perry is with me." Oscar replied, just about to continue when he was rudely interrupted:
"Alright, knowing he’s alive is enough. Go inside!"
A conversation and a rough voice in Russian was heard at the other end, followed by Oscar shouting:
"Sean, be careful!"
Then, the sound of a wooden door closing was heard.
It seemed to be a simple wooden door.
The sound was very coarse.
"Alright, you’ve heard his voice, now do as I say, or you can forget about seeing your brother!"
The other party’s tone was harsh, but Sean didn’t care. After hanging up the phone, he followed the other party’s instructions and walked down from the highway.
After walking through the mountain for several turns, Sean and the others could feel they were already halfway up the hill.
Although the sun was in the middle of the sky, approaching noon, the temperature in the mountain was not high, and the mountain breeze blew, making their backs feel cold.
Along the way, Sean saw quite a few resources, including some relatively rare medicinal materials.
However, he had no time to worry about it for now.
The mountain road was not easy to walk, mainly because there were too few people. Thick moss covered some roots, and occasionally branches and roots were exposed from the moss, like tentacle-monster hands.
It felt like they had entered a fantasy world, as if a witch wearing a pointed hat might jump out at any time.
While worrying about his brother Oscar, various thoughts crossed Sean’s mind.
At that moment, a sense of danger suddenly appeared, and Sean shouted:
"Take cover!"
At his reminder, Elijah and Douglas immediately dodged behind nearby trees, simultaneously pulling out their pistols and scanning the area.
Sean also dodged behind a fallen tree, took out his pistol, and turned off the safety.
The sense of danger came from the mountainside ahead.
"Bang! Bang!"
Just as they dodged, they heard gunshots!
Bark from the nearby trees splintered.
The gunshots only sounded twice and then stopped.
Sean suddenly shouted:
"If you do this again, we’re canceling the deal! I, Sean, guarantee that I’ll fight you for the rest of my life, relentlessly!"
His words were a bit intimidating, but it seemed to scare the other party as well.
The sense of danger weakened.
A few minutes later, the feeling of danger disappeared.
Sean sighed with relief. It seemed that the other party still wanted to negotiate.
He wasn’t too scared. As long as the other party could close the distance with the three of them, there would be a chance!
He took a deep breath and stood up.
Since the previous sense had saved his life more than once, Sean trusted his instincts greatly.
"Boss, be careful!" Elijah said worriedly when he saw Sean stand up, "Don’t show your head!"
"It’s fine, you know? I sense that their target is the two of you." Sean said, "I guess they know both of you are strong fighters, so they want to get rid of you first, then they could do whatever they want with me...hehe."
Douglas didn’t speak, vigilantly watching the direction the gunshots came from, gripping the gun in his hand tightly, apparently holding a grudge!
If it wasn’t for the fact that Oscar was in their hands, they probably would have jumped out already!
Being in such a passive situation was expected. They had experienced similar situations in previous exercises!
"Alright, it should be okay now." Sean said, "You two stay on either side of me, let’s spread out like seven to eight meters, find a good hiding spot, and hide as soon as something feels wrong!"
The three of them slowed down and continued to walk uphill.
At this time, halfway up the mountain, in the middle of a megalithic relic site, a bald, white-haired Russian hulk slapped the gunner next to him:
"Is this your skill? Don’t call yourself a gunner in front of me in the future... You couldn’t hit two living targets from a high vantage point!"
