Chapter 555: Chapter 374: Pie Falling from the Sky - This Luck, No One Can Beat!_2
It was a delicate jewelry box.
It landed right at Sean Knight’s feet.
The box was small, about the size of a palm, with gold trimmings and gemstones embedded around the edges, giving it a very classical feel.
Sean picked it up and found that it wasn’t locked, just a hidden clasp.
He gently pressed it, and the box opened.
An irregularly shaped crystal, about the size of a thumb, appeared in front of Sean.
It was dark red and reflected the sun’s rays, quite beautiful.
Sean activated Sky Eye and saw the name of this object.
Painite, weighing twenty-one point seven grams.
What is this? A gemstone?
Sean didn’t care about the name, but he felt that the jewelry box itself was quite beautiful.
He put the item back in the box, tucked it into his trousers pocket, and then shouted to the others:
"Plane crash, let’s look around for things like a black box. Also, gather up any body parts and keep them together."
He turned to Elijah Hastings beside him and said:
"Elijah, bring the yacht here. There are plenty of ice cubes on it, so we’ll ice the body parts later. Someone will probably come soon."
A plane crash was a big event, and it was definitely not something that could be kept secret.
No matter who it was, losing a loved one in an accident was never a good thing. Sean had no psychological burden about doing some humanitarian things.
Elijah agreed and went to fetch the yacht.
After Sean spoke, the others immediately began to search and gather things.
The human remains that had fallen on the island and in the shallow waters were found and brought together first.
"Boss, this is strange." Douglas Cooper looked at the pile of debris. "It looks like there was only one person? Was this some kind of chartered plane, with just one person aboard?"
Lincoln Harrington pointed to the scattered debris around them and said:
"I think it was probably a private plane, right? Didn’t you guess that too? Look at these fragments; there’s hardly any luggage or seats."
"Alright, let’s not talk about that anymore. Let’s gather up the rest of the plane wreckage; who knows if someone will need it for solving the case later on."
As Sean collected the debris, he said, "By the way, wear gloves, so you don’t leave your fingerprints on there."
It wasn’t long before dozens of fragments, both large and small, were placed there. There were pieces of the plane, broken pieces of furniture, and some luggage.
No identifying items were found.
Douglas, still wearing gloves, felt around the man’s body but found nothing like an ID card.
The man’s face was burned, so it was impossible to compare him to any photos found online.
Suddenly, Elijah brought the yacht over.
They put the body parts in a luggage bag, placed it in a big box, and surrounded it with ice cubes.
When they reached the port, the body and ice cubes were put in a freezer.
There was a generator there, so they didn’t worry about it breaking down.
There was no news of the private plane crash on the internet immediately.
Therefore, Sean and the others couldn’t find the identity of the body.
"But looking at his clothes, he probably wasn’t poor," Elijah commented.
"No kidding, Captain Hastings, could your analysis be any simpler?" Douglas joked. "Could someone who could afford a private plane be poor?"
"The plane seems to have had a bomb on it," Lincoln suggested with an unusual perspective. "Could it have been an assassination?"
"Who cares?" Sean said. "This plane has crashed, and it has nothing to do with us."
He looked at Douglas:
"Douglas, where’s your barbecue grill?"
"I left it on the sandy beach," Douglas said, hands spread out. "I was in charge of moving the body just now. Seeing the burnt corpse... I don’t think I’ll want any barbecue for a week."
"Are you going to throw up?" Sean asked with a smile.
"No, no," Douglas waved. "I just feel a little nauseous, that’s all. We’ve trained in similar situations, being able to eat with maggots right next to us."
At dinner, they ate with Lana Brown.
"Was there a plane crash?" Lana had also seen the plane explode in midair and asked, "There likely aren’t any survivors, right?"
"Indeed," Sean nodded. "We didn’t see anything underwater, and it was all broken apart. There was only one person onshore. But no matter how many people were on the plane, survival was impossible. After all, we didn’t see a single parachute."
"Sigh." Lana Brown sighed, "I don’t know who it was..."
"Just take care of yourself." Eve Bell said from the side, "There must be many people worrying about this matter now."
Sean Knight didn’t say much either, after all, the information on the Big Island was relatively closed.
At noon the second day, Sean was awakened by the roaring helicopter noise during his nap.
He came out of the yacht and saw two helicopters hovering over the port, then landing on the open space.
Seven men and two women got off the plane.
Sean got off the yacht and saw the person in charge of managing the port talking with them, then came to report to Sean:
"Mr. Knight, they’re here to deal with the plane crash that happened yesterday. They want to talk to you."
"Let them come over then." Sean said.
Those people came over, led by a short-haired, capable woman in her thirties.
White, black-haired, very capable, and beautiful.
There was a younger girl beside her, who looked like her secretary.
Among the five men, two seemed to be bodyguards, two looked like police officers, and another looked like a technician.
"Mr. Knight, hello, my name is Caroline Hall, I am the full representative of Mr. Harrison Buck. We are here to investigate the plane crash that Mr. Harrison Buck was on."
"Hello, Miss Caroline." Sean shook her hand, "You mean, Mr. Harrison Buck was on the plane that crashed yesterday?"
"Yes." Hearing Sean’s words, Caroline became emotional, "Does that mean you saw Mr. Harrison’s... body?"
"Yes." Sean nodded:
"We witnessed the whole process of the plane crash, and for humanitarian reasons, collected all the parts of Mr. Harrison’s body we could find and put them in the freezer..."
"Can Mr. Knight tell us in detail about the plane crash?" A man who looked like a policeman suddenly asked, "It would be very helpful to find out the cause of Mr. Harrison’s death."
Sean narrowed his eyes, did not answer, but asked instead:
"Who are you?"
"I am Grings, a senior detective of the American Los Angeles Police." The man reported his identity.
"Lincoln, you tell him."
Sean said to Lincoln Harrington, then turned to walk toward the yacht, leaving a sentence behind:
"Douglas, take Caroline to get Harrison’s body."
"Mr. Knight, you can’t go..." Grings, who obviously noticed that Sean didn’t want to interact with him, immediately raised his voice and tried to stop Sean.
"Slap!"
Captain Hastings, who was standing nearby, grabbed his arm, subdued him with a move and said emotionlessly:
"If you are asking for help, act like it! This is not Los Angeles, you have no authority here!"
Caroline cursed Grings for being stupid, but now it seemed that her previous trust advantage with Sean was gone, so she had no choice but to follow Douglas Cooper to get Harrison’s body.
Lincoln briefly told Grings and another detective who didn’t even dare to move about the plane crash.
Then, Captain Hastings threw down a sentence:
"We told you all this as a humanitarian gesture. If you want to interrogate us like prisoners, you should consider whether you can leave here safely!"
He turned around and left after saying that.
Grings’ face was full of resentment, but he didn’t dare to say anything.
He went to Jakarta to seek help from the local police force.
Jakarta took him very seriously as soon as they found out he was an American detective and even sent two helicopters.
This gave Grings some illusion.
He didn’t expect Sean to teach him a lesson here again.
It turned out that his identity was not always useful everywhere in the world!
Caroline was more effective.
Afer confirming that the body was indeed Harrison, she sighed and asked for the location where the body was found.
After getting permission from Sean, Douglas took her and her team to the sandy beach.
Caroline saw the pile of plane wreckage here.
She immediately went forward, checked piece by piece, but eventually retreated disappointedly.
She couldn’t find what she was looking for.
