Chapter 553: Chapter 373: The Inevitable End_2
"Auntie, just call me Sean." Sean Knight was embarrassed. Was this the legendary mother-in-law liking her son-in-law more and more? This praise was a bit overwhelming!
Leroy Brown also came to Sean:
"Mr. Knight, our salvage ship will rest for two hours and then go to the reserved sea territory for search and salvage. Do you want to go with us?"
"I won’t go." Sean said, "Let Douglas follow you guys, I need to accompany Aunt Eve to tour the island."
Sean not going made Leroy quite happy. He nodded and said:
"That’s right, you should definitely accompany her when my aunt comes. Don’t worry, we will record everything we salvage."
Eve Bell advised Sean:
"Sean, you should go and take care of your business. I’ll be fine with Lana’s company."
"Don’t worry, Auntie." Sean laughed and said: "The salvage ship is not going far. Accompanying you on a tour of this island is a big deal for me. This is even more important."
Eve felt more satisfied when she heard Sean put her in such a high position.
Sean and Lana Brown accompanied Eve on an electric vehicle around the big island, introducing it to her while she nodded.
Lana Brown also added her ideas for transforming the island into a tourist spot. Eve felt some were appropriate, while she added some of her suggestions.
During the conversation, Eve said to Sean:
"Sean, my college major was urban planning and design. Although it seems unrelated to the construction on this island, the design aspects are actually connected.
So, I have some ideas that I’ll share directly with you. I think you should build everything well from the beginning, to avoid having to patch things up later, which would be very troublesome."
Sean nodded continuously.
Did he just find a treasure?
After touring the island, they arrived at the command headquarters.
There was already a two-story small building made of composite materials.
Although the decoration was simple, it had all the necessary furniture and appliances.
Lana whispered to Sean:
"These things were originally for you to live in after the command headquarters was built. But since you basically don’t live here, they never mentioned it. When I came this time, they let me live here directly."
Sean asked:
"How is it?"
"It’s great!" Lana said: "It’s actually better than some two-story buildings in rural areas.
There’s no shortage of water or electricity, satellite television, and although the internet isn’t as fast as in the city, it’s still available. It uses satellite network.
Although I don’t have many acquaintances, to be honest, I plan to start my life anew. It’s actually better to make new friends here."
Sean nodded.
Since Lana had this realization, it would be best to keep her here.
Eve also stayed and went with Lana to see the under-construction tourist attractions she had designed the next day.
Sean originally planned to follow, but was "chased away" by Lana.
According to Lana, as a collaborator of the treasure hunting team, he would seem suspicious if he didn’t pay attention to the treasure salvage.
Sean thought about it and waited for Elijah Hastings to come before they set off on the yacht to find the salvage ship.
The salvage ship was only a few dozen sea miles from the big island.
When Sean saw Leroy, he was frowning.
"The radar detected something suspicious, so we salvaged it." Leroy looked at Sean and said disappointedly: "But we ended up with a bunch of broken ship planks... and no valuable items."
Sean could not be too obvious, so he had to say "disappointingly": "What bad luck!"
"Tell me about it!" Leroy originally came with the intention of making a comeback for his family but didn’t expect the first attempt to end up like this. He couldn’t help feeling disappointed.
Fortunately, he adjusted quickly and soon started scanning and salvaging the second area.
Seeing Leroy regaining his enthusiasm, Sean sneered, young man, get ready for the upcoming blows!
The salvage ship moved quite far this time, almost reaching the marine border.
Leroy told Sean that this place was an ancient waterway, and they would definitely find something!
Sean was enjoying seafood porridge on the yacht, listening to Leroy’s confident words through the satellite phone, and responding with "yes yes yes."
Then, a day later, Leroy excitedly called again:
"We found it! A huge sunken ship! Forty-three meters deep on the seafloor! This one is much bigger than the one we salvaged before. This time, our collection will be absolutely rich!"
Seeing Leroy so excited, Sean was also a bit curious. He had only searched a small portion of this sea territory, and left the rest untouched since it was mostly on the waterway where he thought it would be unlikely to find anything. Even if there were, it would have been taken away by those maritime bandits long ago.
So he didn’t continue before.
Could it be that he missed something important?
The salvage ship immediately deployed a robot to submerge and locate, excavate, and salvage.
Sean Knight let his yacht get closer to take a look.
But Leroy Brown wasn’t answering his phone.
Could it be that he was concentrating on watching the salvage operation?
Or did he have some other ideas?
As Sean Knight was thinking about this, Leroy Brown in the monitoring room of the ship was staring intently at the images sent back by the robot!
The robot was on the sunken ship, slowly lifting the ship’s planks to expose the cabin below.
Then they saw a few large broken holes.
Underneath were layers of boxes arranged one after another.
The boxes, which should have been neat and tidy, were now leaning and disarranged, and the things inside them were revealed.
Porcelain!
A large number of porcelains were exposed!
This was the most transported and most valuable item on the Maritime Silk Road!
However, there wasn’t a single complete piece of porcelain in view of Leroy Brown!
All of them were shattered, even broken into many pieces!
"These robbers!"
Even Leroy Brown, an outsider, could tell that this was definitely man-made!
Someone sneaked into the ship’s cabin, picked out the most valuable porcelains, and broke the remaining ones!
These robbers!
Damn them!
Although sea salvaged porcelain is generally inexpensive, the boutique and official kiln ones can still be worth a reasonable amount.
But now, all they could do was look at a package of shards with tears in their eyes!
Leroy Brown wanted to kill those destroyers!
If these were all intact, wouldn’t this be another "South Sea No.1"?
At this point, he finally remembered the phone call from Sean Knight that he had deliberately ignored earlier.
First, Leroy Brown instructed Captain Guy:
"Be as careful as possible, and see if there are any intact pieces left. Be extra careful!"
Then he dialed Sean Knight:
"Mr. Knight, I apologize, I was so engrossed in watching the contents of the sunken ship that I didn’t hear the phone ring."
"Is there anything good in there?" Sean Knight asked.
"No... Damn those robbers! There was a shipload of exquisite porcelains, but they were destroyed after some robbers picked out a few and broke the rest. Damn them!"
Sean Knight listened and felt somewhat sad instead of feeling schadenfreude.
At that time, China’s power wasn’t enough to protect these sunken ships, so the robbers could do whatever they wanted in this sea territory.
Indeed, those robbers!
If he ever encountered them, he would make them suffer later!
"Look carefully, there might be some intact ones left," Sean Knight left these words and hung up.
Leroy Brown gloomily threw the phone aside, it seemed that he couldn’t feel proud and elated this time.
Hopefully, they could find another valuable sunken ship.
Otherwise, when he returned to the family, he would face sidelining and even exile, rather than promotion and appreciation!
In a week, Leroy Brown finally gave up.
The supplies on the salvage ship had been mostly consumed. Except for finding more than 100 relatively intact porcelains on the sunken ship, this salvage trip was almost a total failure.
With a bitter face, Leroy Brown bid farewell to Sean Knight and left Big Island, following the salvage ship back to Jakarta.
Originally, he wanted to meet Lana Brown, as she was currently more welcomed by the family’s elders council.
But Lana Brown refused, saying she didn’t want anyone to disturb her current life.
Leroy Brown had no choice but to leave dejectedly.
Sean Knight watched the salvage ship leave and thought to himself that this was not yet over!
