Chapter 531: Chapter 362: Became the Target of Public Criticism _2
Their target was none other than the old villa owned by Sean Knight!
After spending a night in Jakarta City, Sean and three others sailed away from the port on a yacht, heading to his Big Island.
"Once the airport is done on the island, we won’t need to hassle as much," Sean said. "Currently, the detour takes two full days, which is quite inconvenient."
"I actually quite like it," Douglas Cooper said while fishing. "Consider it a vacation. Not everyone gets to enjoy views like this or relax like this."
That was true. While the yacht wasn’t the most luxurious kind, it was already very comfortable. The sea was clean, with few boats and nice views. There wasn’t much garbage, and it was resource-rich.
Since this large sea territory doesn’t support a large population, and coupled with its tropical climate where fruits are available all year round, it’s naturally a nice place where heaven provides the food.
This makes it suitable for tourism.
After two days of leisurely traveling, they reached the port.
When Sean arrived, he realized that Lana Brown was already there.
"Miss Brown, you got here rather quickly," Sean, somewhat surprised, commented, seeing Lana at the port chatting with the director of the overseas branch of the Chinese Construction Company.
"It can’t be helped. As a woman, I am easily overlooked. If I want to make achievements without relying on my looks, I have to put in the hard work. So, I have to be diligent."
Lana’s half-true-half-sarcastic reply impressed the director. Clearly, she could get by on her looks yet she chose to work hard, leaving others no chance to excuse their lack of effort.
"Has the salvage ship arrived yet?" Sean scanned the area. Apart from his own yacht, there was a small yacht which was probably sailed by Lana. The remaining ones belonged to the construction company. There was no salvage ship in sight.
"People from the Western Realm are very punctual. They should arrive as per the agreed-upon appointment, which is in one and a half days," said Lana.
Nodding indifferently, Sean then pointed towards the Big Island and asked, "I’m going to the island now. Are you coming?"
"I would love to." Lana had spent two days on the yacht, and she didn’t want to stay on the island much longer.
"Mr. Knight, Mr. Davis has returned to China. Vice President Lewis is on the island, currently directing the workers in leveling the airport field..."
"It’s okay, don’t we have the electric vehicle? We can just drive there ourselves. Just get on with your work." As this was his island, Sean was at home and didn’t bother getting special treatment. He took Douglas Cooper and Elijah Hastings onto the electric vehicle while Lincoln Harrington stayed behind to look after the boat.
Lana quickly climbed aboard. Another man who also tried to tag along was left behind on the yacht at her request.
As the electric vehicle followed the freshly paved highway to reach an elevated platform, it became clear that the island had completely changed.
Most of the area had been completely levelled. Some parts had been turned into gardens, some into houses, and some into amusement parks and the like.
In short, the number of people involved in the construction was several times more than before.
Every few kilometers, one could see a busy construction site.
On the other side of the island, the construction of the airport had already started with several pieces of heavy engineering machinery at work.
At this time, Lana turned into a curious kid, asking constantly:
"Mr. Knight, why are those two mountains still there? They look rather ugly. What are you planning to do with them?"
"Nothing planned as of now," Sean looked over and understood, "Those are two mountain mines. If we have time in the future, we can start mining."
"What kind of mines?" Lana asked curiously.
"Copper mine – and a gold mine."
"Gold mine!" Lana expressed her surprise, perfectly revealing the adorable face of a beauty.
A bit dramatic, eight out of ten points for acting.
Sean gave his internal assessment.
But it feels quite comfortable to be subtly flattered by a beauty of this level.
Sean Knight didn’t really care about that at the moment. After all, compared to Lana Brown, Cheryl Suweton’s status was more advanced.
If he wasn’t proud of one, why would he be proud of the other?
It was a bit blunt. Lana Brown clearly didn’t consider this an achievement, which was understandable.
Sean Knight walked into the Engineering Management Department with ease AND saw Connor Price, who was temporarily replacing Craig Davis as vice president, there.
Connor Price, in his forties, was looking at blueprints with a safety helmet on. When he saw Sean Knight come in, he smiled and said:
"Mr. Knight, welcome! We’re quite busy here, so we didn’t come to greet you..."
"No, no, no, I’m quite happy to see you guys like this." Sean Knight said with a smile, "You’re all working for me, and seeing how dedicated you are makes me really happy."
Seeing Sean Knight say this, Connor Price relaxed and started to introduce Sean Knight to the progress of current projects.
Lana Brown, who was listening by the side, couldn’t help but wonder, how rich was Sean Knight? These projects were so big, and once the island buildings were completed, that would be something else!
"... Actually, Mr. Knight, I have a small suggestion. After the construction of the island, it could completely accommodate some tourism projects.
Imagine, domestic tourists are really longing for the sea. This place has such great resources and plenty of space. If only your family comes to play here, that would be a waste of resources..."
After introducing the engineering projects, Connor Price, seeing that Sean Knight was easy to talk to, continued:
"Actually, there are already relatives of the workers who want to come over and visit. We didn’t let them because the engineering project wasn’t finished yet..."
Sean Knight was struck by a thought, actually, this could be a great project!
However, now was not the time.
After some thought, Sean Knight said:
"Actually, if everyone is working here for a long time and cannot go back, and now that the infrastructure has been improved, if relatives want to come, they can come.
You can organize it. As for the places to eat and live, I think you should be able to build some makeshift houses in a few days, right?"
"What we’ve been waiting for is your words Mr. Knight. I will call the mainland later... this is really good news!"
Because of this news, Sean Knight felt that the workers’ mood had been greatly uplifted that night.
After meeting Connor Price and hearing about the introduction of tourism projects, Lana Brown was always thoughtful.
Connor Price had always thought that Lana Brown was someone close to Sean Knight, and because they were talking about the things before, Sean Knight had forgotten to introduce her, so he didn’t bring it up.
Connor Price was rather busy, so the next day he arranged a guide for Sean Knight to visit various project sites. Sean Knight wasn’t affected by it, and just went on with the tour.
In addition to tidal power generation on the island, there was also a large area of solar photovoltaic power generation, which provided a constant supply of electricity.
Because the entire island was high with a few artificially made sandy beaches, there was no fear of typhoons and high seas. Moreover, with the good weather, Sean Knight and the others were really enjoying the sunshine, waves, sandy beaches and seafood.
By the time they returned to the port, the salvage ship had already arrived.
What surprised Sean Knight was that on the private yacht, a white man about twenty years old was confronting Lincoln Harrington. Behind the white man, there were two followers holding him up. On the salvage ship, a man in a captain’s uniform was watching this scene, without any intention of interfering.
"This is a private yacht and no one is allowed to board without the owner’s permission," Lincoln Harrington’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was powerful.
But the young white man was a bit overbearing:
"I know who owns this yacht. Let me tell you, without my father, the owner of this yacht can’t do anything! So, you better treat me with respect. I assure you, the owner of the yacht won’t refuse me boarding the yacht - let me through!"
Sean Knight has rather sharp ears, and as soon as the electric vehicle stopped, he heard the young white man’s words.
At this time, the person in charge of managing the port stepped forward, stood next to Lincoln Harrington, and said to the white man:
"Please don’t make trouble at the port! He’s already rejected you, and you better not cause trouble – otherwise, I have the right to refuse you to go ashore!"
Sean Knight was quite pleased, at least this person in charge wasn’t a shrinking turtle and had a sense of responsibility.
Now, it’s time for him to step up!
